Tandem Hang Gliding

Come join Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures as we take you tandem hang gliding Saturday and Sunday, June 21 - 22. Live the dream and learn to fly as we take you to Lookout Mountain in Georgia (near Chattanooga, TN); no experience necessary. You will fly your first flights in a controlled environment as you surf the slopes of small hills 5 – 10 feet off the ground. You will have five opportunities to fly from a small hill with a certified instructor guiding you step by step. Then, fly tandem with an instructor by your side. An ultralight aircraft will tow you to an altitude of 2,000 feet above the beautiful Lookout Valley for 12 – 20 minutes of actual flight time.

Day 1 - We will leave from the Recreation Center at 4:00 a.m. and drive seven hours to Lookout Mountain. We will set up our camp and spend the rest of the day sightseeing Ruby Falls, America’s deepest commercial cave and which has

Gulf Shores Saturday – Sunday June 28 - 29

Come join Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures as we camp at the Gulf Shores State Park on June 28 and 29 (Saturday and Sunday). This is a wonderful – and inexpensive – way to experience the beautiful Gulf Shores. We will leave from the Student Recreation Center at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and camp at the Park where showers and toilets are available. We will return to Mobile by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Participants may go to Waterville USA – a huge water and amusement park – for an additional $29. Or just lie and the beach and/or hike and swim for free. We can also hike the 4 mile, 90 minute Pine Beach Trail in the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge where a simple walk down a forested nature trail will reveal sand dunes and pristine white beaches. As the trail meanders, we will get a close look at marshes and perhaps see an alligator. For meals, you can cook in camp or go out and eat.
