The All Women Expo Announces Anna Kaiser As A Guest Speaker And Exhibitor STORY BY EMILY BERNSTEEN
The All Women Expo will be featuring Anna Kaiser as a speaker and exhibitor, focusing on the dangers of human trafficking and how it is an issue closer to home than many people are aware of. Anna is an advocate for International Justice Mission and a Freedom Fighter for Better Way Imports. Better Way Imports is a company committed to supporting life changing Anna Kaiser. Photo courtesy of opportunities for women who have Boss Expos. been rescued out of human trafficking by organizations like International Justice Mission. Once the women are rescued, they require months of rehabilitation and counseling, which these and other organizations provide. When they are ready, BWI’s partners hire and train the women in order to provide sustainable careers, child care, insurance and the ability to raise their children in a positive environment, hopefully stopping the cycle of poverty and abuse. Anna felt compelled to do something about this issue after seeing a film about how young women are being trafficked into the sexual slave trade all around the world, including the U.S. About a year later, one of her very own students at the high school she teaches at went missing and trafficking was suspected. “I had no idea how to help or where to start so when I heard about Better Way Imports as a tangible way to fight against human trafficking, I began immediately.” Anna is confident that she can spread awareness at the All Women Expo about the severity of human trafficking. She states, “My goal right now is to educate and spread the sad news that it is happening in our own backyards, but more importantly, I must educate about the hope that we have. We will be able to combat it by knowing what trafficking looks like, what to do if we see it and by knowing how to prevent it from happening in the first place.” Since being involved with BWI and IJM, Anna has hope that we can put an end to this issue. She states, “With awareness comes hope and strength to not only rescue those who are currently enslaved but to prevent it from even starting. We may not see an end in this lifetime but that does not mean we stop fighting.” Women can look forward to hearing about tangible ways to help these victims from Anna’s sessions.

Overcoming The Fear And Taking The World By Storm STORY BY STARLA GOLIE As women taking on the world, life offers incredibly empowering moments as well as moments that seem to shake us to our very core. We rejoice for the triumphs that propel us closer to our dreams and goals. While at times, we’re also discouraged due to our own self-doubts, anxieties and road blocks. “We are all more alike than different. We are really, on the bottom line of it all, exactly the same. We have the same fears, the same hopes and the same dreams. We all just want to be loved and feel safe,” Kathy Kinney states. The paths of Cindy Ratzlaff and Kathy crossed while they were both attending the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point despite both being born as well as raised in Wisconsin. After graduation, they continued staying in touch while pursuing their passions. At times, life led them in directions that they could never have envisioned or even imagined.
“I never intended to be an actress. Life just sort of appeared in front of me and I kept saying yes. Getting cast on The Drew Carey Show was unexpected and came out of the blue,” explained Kathy. While she had always been really shy, accepting that role allowed her to grow and flourish not only in her career but also in her personal life. “My self-esteem was below sea level. But after I played Mimi, there was this brief transference of, I gave her some humanity I hope and she gave me some incredible strength. Now I’m really good at setting a boundary. A very strong but gentle boundary. I got that from playing Mimi,” Kathy said. The life experiences that both
4 | YOU | APRIL 1, 2017 | ALL WOMEN EXPO & CONFERENCE 2017
women share are proof that perseverance prevails and sometimes all you need is a good friend to remind you of the spectacular qualities that sometimes we tend to forget about ourselves. We can be our own very worst critic. “I had a very long and very successful career in book publishing until 2007 when the market crashed and I was laid off. I was the vice president of brand development at a big publishing house at that time.” Cindy continued, “I curled up on the sofa, ate potato chips for six months and felt like I had failed until I reached out to Kathy. She said to me, ‘snap out of it and put the potato chips down. You and I are going on a trip and we’re going to talk about this.’”
You can take the girl out of Wisconsin but you can’t take Wisconsin out of the girl.” – Kathy Kinney It was just what Cindy needed to help her out of the funk and continue moving up the success curve like she had been. “She was able to help me understand that I didn’t get stupid overnight, I just got laid off. That all the skills and talents that had gotten me to that vice president level at my company were all still there,” confirmed Cindy. That trip was also the impetus for their collaboration on the book The Queen Of Your Own Life: The Grown-Up Woman’s Guide to Claiming Happiness and Getting the Life You Deserve which has allowed them to positively impact the lives of people all over the world. “That experience of Kathy pulling me out of depression and helping me understand that I was still fabulous, I was still smart, I was still okay and that I was flexible enough to try something new,” Cindy elaborated. “We created some rituals and exercises to do this and it changed my life. Then we wrote the book so that it could change others. There was a moment where I did not think that I would amount to anything again and that was false.” Both ladies will be sharing
their insight, life experiences and more as keynote speakers at the All Women Expo in Stevens Point. They will be returning to their original stomping ground to show women in central Wisconsin how to unlock their full potential. The day will begin with Cindy offering advice on how to create a powerhouse personal brand that can help your business without having to break the bank. She’ll offer simple tips that people can do that very same day to increase their visibility and refine the way they present themselves. “Whether you’re an author, an artist, a banker or a small business owner, it all starts with your personal brand. Everything that you do, is your brand. That’s your promise to the world,” stated Cindy matter-of-factly. As the day winds down, both women will join forces for the final discussion that will focus on accepting yourself, empowering yourself and leaving fear in the dust. “When I was a little girl, I thought that everybody was born knowing how to be happy. I didn’t realize that it was a skill that you needed to learn and then practice,” Kathy mentioned. While doubts may bring us down, it’s crucial not to let them hold you there. If you believe something is possible, you are already on your way there. Stay focused, make a plan and don’t let anything hold you back. You are perfect just the way you are and have so much to offer the world. Kathy assured, “you have a choice how you want to live your life and who you want to be. Sometimes you feel trapped, but it’s not true.” ALL WOMEN EXPO & CONFERENCE 2017 | APRIL 1, 2017 | YOU | 5

Criminal Justice Professor, Justin Patchin, Ph. D., at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Talks Cyberbullying at All Women Expo STORY BY EMILY BERNSTEEN to look into ways to help them and has been working on these issues ever since. Justin has spoken at the White House and appeared on numerous national and international media about the use and misuse of technology. He mentions that it is such a pressing issue because in today’s society, everyone is online. “A lot of folks are looking for ways to protect themselves from abuse in online environments,” he states. “In addition, most people have heard the horrible stories of children being mistreated online and want to do something about it.”
The All Women Expo is very excited to feature Dr. Justin Patchin as a guest speaker! Justin is a Professor of Criminal Justice at The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Co-Director of The Cyberbullying Research Center and has always been interested in working with young people. He will be delivering two intense sessions at The All Women Expo and doing a book signing for his book, Words Wound: Delete Cyberbullying and Make Kindness Go Viral. When Justin began seeing teens use technology to harm each other, he started
The first session Justin will be speaking about will be “Deterring Teen Bullying: Do’s and Don’ts.” This session will touch on specific strategies to prevent bullying and cyberbullying. There will be a particular focus on efforts to improve school climate and student empowerment. Participants will leave this session with a better idea of what works (and what doesn’t) to prevent inappropriate adolescent behaviors, online and off. His second session will be “Bullying Beyond the Schoolyard,” which will provide an overview of

examples of cyberbullying that will help to stress the seriousness of this specific issue. In this session, Justin will also describe many of the online environments

among
adolescents today so that educators and parents can be better prepared to help young people navigate the ever-changing online world. Justin hopes to empower women of all ages in both of his sessions with the information he has about how to use technology safely and responsibly. He states, “Whether you are a parent tasked with helping your children or an adult who is being mistreated online, what I have learned in over 15 years of research can help you make sense of what is going on online.” Justin plans to convince attendees that technology is amazing and something we can utilize for many incredible things, but we also need to be aware of how it can be misused. His sessions will provide practical solutions for those looking to minimize the effects of online problems.

you all women expo & conference The History of the Company Behind the All Women Expo Boss Expos, LLC began as boothboss®, an interactive floor plan software used by trade shows and conferences throughout the United States and Canada. When we developed the software back in 2007, we were the first of its kind. Our software was critically acclaimed, winning “Rookie of the Year” at Expo! Expo!, the largest trade show for event professionals in the United States. After the initial success of boothboss®, we created registrationboss® in 2009. This software can be used to register for an event or purchase tickets for an outing. Naturally, after all this success, we expanded our operations into event management. In 2011, we began to
plan and manage trade shows and conferences for our clients throughout the United States. We were honored to be chosen as the registration software for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Los Angeles, CA in 2015. In 2016, with our fantastic team and software in place, the decision was made to take the next step and Boss Expos, LLC will now proudly own two expositions. As an all women company, the mission of this conference is to empower women in an uplifting environment. Featured speakers will
talk about topics such as women’s issues, living healthier lives, and alternative medical treatments. There will also be sessions on cyberbullying and our children, money and estate planning, and handling family crises. We are using this opportunity to encourage women to explore new things and meet new people. In addition to the educational sessions, the expo portion of the event will be filled with vendors that sell to women.
