Downtown Fond du Lac Open House Weekend – Nov. 12-14 Downtown businesses will showcase their new holiday merchandise and products. Businesses will be open Friday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, November 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 14, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity to give shoppers a chance to get a head start on shopping. Participating businesses will
offer special sales and discounts, free product samples, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. For more information on participating businesses and their specials, look for the Open House Weekend Holiday Guide on page 8.
Home for the Holidays – Dec. 4 Downtown Fond du Lac will host Home for the Holidays, a day of holiday entertainment and oldfashioned fun. On Saturday, December 4, start your
morning with Santa at the Ramada Plaza Hotel. Children and parents can enjoy a delicious breakfast while visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Call the Ramada at (920) 923-3000 for reservations. Other festivities throughout the day will include live reindeer on Forest Ave. and free horse-drawn carriage rides from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Keep warm by enjoying the chili at a variety of downtown businesses from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (920) 921-9500 for more information. Wrapping up the day is the wonderful KFIZ Holiday Parade starting at 4 p.m.

Breakfast With Santa

This event has become so popular that Santa and Mrs. Claus will be joining boys and girls for breakfast twice! Seating is at 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, in the Crystal Ballroom at the Ramada Plaza Hotel. Children can have their photos taken with Santa and children and parents can enjoy a delicious breakfast featuring sausage, bacon, fruit, cheese & sausage, breads, French toast sticks, cheesy scrambled eggs, hash browns, potato casserole, mini quiché and a Christmas cookie. The cost is $7 for children and $9 for adults. This is inclusive of tax and service charge. Children under 3 are free with a paid adult. Space is limited. Please call the Ramada for reservations, (920) 923-3000.
Chili Crawl On December 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Downtown Fond du Lac will be hosting their 2nd annual Chili Crawl! Participating downtown businesses will be cooking up their best batch of chili – but the winner will be up to you! To participate in the Chili Crawl purchase a $10 ticket at Mid Town Pub, located in the Ramada Plaza Hotel, on
the day of the crawl. From there, stop by the 10 Chili Challengers and taste an array of different chilies. The last stop is Hopper’s Silkscreening and All Star Trophy where you turn in the marked-off ticket to receive your Chili Crawl t-shirt. The ticket will also be your ballot to vote for your favorite chili. The winning chili will be awarded a prize as well as a year’s worth of bragging rights!

Santa & Mrs. Claus
at the Children’s Museum
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 4. Kids will be treated to an early Christmas gift, candy canes and
hot cocoa. The Children’s Museum is open on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; admission is $4.25 for visitors ages 1 to 101. However, there is no charge to visit with Santa.

Shining Star Campaign Veteran’s Park will be kicking off the Shining Star Campaign 2011 during the Holiday Open House Weekend. The goal of the campaign is to raise money to light the largest tree in the park with LED lights. We are looking for support from the whole community, including service groups, businesses and military branches. Veteran’s Park is a great addition to downtown, help us show our gratitude to those who have served and are serving our country. Will you be a Shining Star?
