See Famous Reggie, who won the Anheuser Busch Best American Bred Gelding at the National Clydesdale Show. Get a chance to pet the baby Clydesdale, which is very rare. Visit the ranch where the gentle giants live. See an entertaining demonstration of a cart class in costume and full harness, antique hitch wagons and show preparation. The only 90-minute guided Clydesdale tour with a small show in the middle. Museum and gift shop. Open midMay to mid-Oct. Mon-Sat. 1pm tour and grandstand show. Villa Loretto

The only Historical Society in Wisconsin that has two historic mansions. The Galloway House is a 30-room mansion that was the “farmhouse” of the family for three generations. The many buildings that make up the village depict life of a bygone era recreated to give visitors a view of what it was like over 100 years ago. HISTORIC GALLOWAY HOUSE AND VILLAGE

This 30-room mansion was the "farmhouse" of the Galloway family for three generations. Beginning as a simple but decorative house, the Galloways built ornate additions to become a showplace for gracious living and entertaining friends. The many buildings that make up the village depict life of a bygone era re-created to give visitors a view of what it was like nearly 100 years ago.

The Galloway House and Village is owned and operated by the Fond du Lac County Historical Society.

This National Registered Historic Home designed by Orson Fowler was built in 1856 by former mayor Isaac Brown. Authentically costumed guides lead tours of the 27-room Stagecoach Inn, forge iron at the Dockstader Blacksmith Shop and demonstrate the sawyer’s craft at the Herrling Sawmill-the nation’s only working reproduction of a muleytype up-and-down sawmill. Visitors enjoy a relaxing horsedrawn carriage ride to the Wesley Jung Carriage Museum, featuring the state’s largest collection of horse-drawn wagons and carriages. May 19-Oct. 14. Wander through the center’s exhibits and take in the spectacular view of the local glacial landforms from the observation deck. There is also a 20-minute movie shown every half hour. The movie does a nice job explaining how the last Ice Age really impacted this area and all of Wisconsin. Open year round Mon-Fri. 8:30-4pm, Sat-Sun. 9:30-5pm. Winter hours may vary.

Bring the family for fun at Fond du Lac’s 400-acre Lakeside Park, on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin’s largest inland lake. Walk-up lighthouse, picnic areas, shelters, playground, deer park, ball diamonds, marina and boat launch ramps, rides and seasonal petting zoo. Park glows with thousands of holiday lights and animated displays including holiday music each December.

Lakeside Park, North end of Main Street

Self-guided tours May1-Oct. 15, weather permitting. 8am to dusk. Free. Climb this 40-ft tall working lighthouse for a spectacular view of Lake Winnebago and Lakeside Park. The city’s signature attraction and most photographed structure in town. Built in 1933 during the Great Depression, it is wooden Cape Cod style painted white with a flagstone base and free telescope views. Decorated and spotlighted for the holidays every December.

Consists of two swimming beaches with a picnic area adjacent to each lake. Long Lake is home to Summit Trail and Dundee Mountain, which have become popular spots over the years. The area is also a great location for tobogganing and ice fishing.

Reservations required. Tailor-made dog sled rides. Demonstrations and tours for all ages. Visit with the dogs while you learn about sledding and the history of an antique sled.

Kettle Moraine State Forest Mauthe Lake Recreation Area

Located in Fond du Lac County. The River Road Route in the Town of Ashford is situated between Highway 67 on the north and County W on the south. Length: 9.4 miles. Paved surface. R82 comprises five roads: River Drive, Spring Drive, Rolling Drive, Cloverland Drive and Katzenburg Drive. This route takes travelers through wetlands, rolling hills, oldgrowth wooded areas and scenic agricultural areas.

Hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, backpacking and snowmobiling are all activities that can be enjoyed on Mauthe Lake’s 130 miles of trails. A swimming beach with an 80-acre lake is perfect for boating or fishing off a pier.

Lake Winnebago is the largest freshwater lake in Wisconsin. Year round, it is one of the more heavily fished state lakes and considered as one of the nation’s top walleye fisheries. FAST FACTS: • 137,708 acres with 88 miles of shoreline • 15.5 ft. - average depth, 21 ft. maximum depth • Fish species: Black Crappie, Bluegill, Burbot, Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish, Freshwater Drum, Lake Sturgeon, Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Northern Pike, Saugeye, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, White Bass • Approximately 30 miles long by 10 miles wide • Ice fishing is very popular and it’s not uncommon to view 10,000 cars parked on the lake during the frigid months. • The annual spearing hunt for the bottom dwelling, prehistoric sturgeon fish begins in February. • Fond du Lac County is home to 42 lakes plus numerous rivers and trout streams to lure the anglers. • Opening day for Wisconsin fishing is traditionally the first Saturday in May. Fond du Lac is in the “elite” Area 2 turkey hunting zone of southeastern Wisconsin and a hunter’s paradise featuring a variety of landscapes form the Niagara Escarpment, the “kettles”, straight farmland and marsh areas. There is no doubt a healthy share of the state’s wild turkey population of over 320,000 Eastern turkeys. Public hunting in state recreational areas managed by the Habitat Restoration Area, Kettle Moraine State Forest Northern Unit, Brandon Marsh, Eldorado Marsh Wildlife Area and parts of Mullet Creek Wildlife Area. Eisenbahn State Park Trail

22 mile recreation trail extending from Eden Community Park south into West Bend. The north 12 miles of the trail is within Fond du Lac County. Multiple purpose trail surfaced with crushed limestone. Open to ATV use between 12/15 & 3/15 when the ground is frozen and the temperature is 28 degrees or lower. The 5-mile southern section has been paved with asphalt suitable for in-line skating.

The trail runs from the southern trail head at HWY 60 (about 4 miles south of the City of Juneau) in Dodge County to the northern trail head at Rolling Meadows Drive in the City of Fond du Lac.

This 120 acre park has well groomed & hilly trails, woodlands and a small stream. In addition, the park being part of the Niagara Escarpment, has a high ledge with an overlook tower.

Located at UW-FDL, the Arboretum is composed of 37.5 acres of native prairie. Serves as an outdoor recreation facility including about 0.8 miles of walking trails and an established interpretive trail with 12 signs introducing visitors to the prairie community.

Kettle Moraine State Forest New Fane Loop Lake to Lake Trail

The Kettle Moraine State Forest Northern Unit offers multi-use trails. A 5.5 mile off-road biking trail is permitted on the New Fane Loop. Normally opened in late April through November, depending on trail conditions. The Lake to Lake Trail is a 6.5 mile limestone surfaced trail connects Mauthe and Long Lake recreation areas and passes by the village of Dundee.
