You guys. We got a good one for you. Our annual 20 Women to Know issue is always, hands-down, one of our most anticipated issues of the year and for good reason. Twenty stories of real, live women in our community working hard and making it big – who can resist that? Turn to page 8 to read more about these powerhouses who are challenging and changing our community.
Advertising Director Steve Teofilo Graphic Artist KRIsty gnadt Circulation Manager Dave Sielski Contributing Writers Amelia Compton Wolff, Meghan Diemel, Kirsty gungor, Melissa Gorzelanczyk
I always love learning what makes these on-therise and in-the-know women tick. This year, one of our featured ladies shared her succinct key to personal and professional success: get over yourself.
Photography Jennifer Comins, Andrea Naylor, Mike Peters, Press-Gazette Photography Staff
Now, some people may find this a bit glib, but in a world where “humble bragging” is a thing and selfies have become an art form, I find this advice to be a breath of fresh air. It really spoke to me. It’s so easy to get caught up in our little universes, our problems and personal stresses that sometimes we lose sight of the bigger picture and end up hurting ourselves in the process.
YOU Advisory Board Members Sharon Verbeten Brown County Public Library
This advice almost seems counterintuitive though, doesn’t it? That to get ahead, to really further yourself and your cause, you need to first let it all go. It’s a deceptively simple suggestion that comes with a strong implication – don’t just stop at getting over yourself, keep going by then getting in to something else. Maybe that’s your work, your family or a hobby you are passionate about, but the getting into is as important as the getting over. When we free up that mental and emotional space, just think of all the good we can fill it with.
Patti Schisel The Ultimate Closet Allyson Watson, Definitely De Pere Amy Bailey Press-Gazette Media Janie Denis Strutt Forte Modeling & Talent
In her column on career success (pg 18), Mind & Spirit contributor Melissa Gorzelanczyk has a great suggestion on how we can begin the getting over journey. Melissa advocates that we celebrate the successes of others, as opportunities often beget more opportunities and there’s lots of room in the winner’s circle. Sounds like a great idea to me.
Dave Compton Wolff Cineviz Stephanie Schultz, MSM, RDN, CD Skogen’s Festival Foods
In an issue all about celebrating success, let’s raise a glass to those failures too. We’ve all had them, and I bet we can all agree that we’ve learned as much, if not more, from the fall-on-your-face moments as we have from the triumphs.
Lisa Malak Local Five Live, WFRV lori o’connor Press-Gazette Media
I think Winston Churchill summed it up nicely when he said, “Success is not final and failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.” So, carry on.

We asked and, boy, did you deliver.
The nominations came pouring in for this annual feature celebrating Green Bay’s leading ladies. From those nominations, we met these 20 influential women who are inspiring conversations, shaping their organizations and even changing the way we do business. With stories like these, we couldn’t help but share. Here’s who we have our eye on in 2014.
you spotlight
Kelly Felmer
Nurse Practitioner, The Wellness Way A passion for prevention and reversal of disease pushes nurse practitioner Kelly Felmer, 42, each day. She works with individuals to find the causes of illness and symptoms when the traditional healthcare model tells them that everything is normal. She has also served as vice president of myTEAM TRIUMPH WI, a non-profit organization that develops relationships, through athletics, with those who have a disability. “I think I have been striving to improve and grow and learn, and now I have really found what I have been waiting or searching for,” says Felmer of her career. Felmer and her husband Tim have a blended family with a total of seven children including Jordan, 19, Brady, almost 17, Alexis, 15, Max, 14, Beau, almost 13, Matthew, 12, and Mason, 12. Her passion at work is also a passion at home. “We are all working together to have a healthier lifestyle, to make good food choices, and stay active,” she says.
Tara Day Owner, Capture Courage Photography Nutrition Coach, Better Body Fitness
Tara Day’s father, Tom Diedrich, taught her to live a life full of adventure and to always see the beauty in every experience. It’s not a surprise then that Day, 37, lives that inspiration through her nonprofit Capture Courage Photography, where local children with cancer are photographed as part of a dream photo shoot. Day’s vision for capturing those precious moments for families was motivated years ago by a session with Amber Mastey, a girl who was losing her battle with cancer. “After photographing her I just knew,” says Day. “Every photo had a special meaning and she truly gave me the purpose I was looking for, for my hobby.” Her children Zavion, 11, and Kaiason, 3, are also evidence of life’s blessings. “My two sons are my world, filling our days with adventure, laughs and constant reminders on what life is all about,” she adds.
Tanessa Klug Director of Development, Cerebral Palsy, Inc.
Grant writing, corporate giving programs, capital campaigns, online donation programs, and Annual CP Telethon – Tanessa Klug, 33, is the main fundraising cog for the local CP Centers, which provide caring services to 1,600 children and adults with severe physical and cognitive conditions each year. This spring, Klug led the charge in raising an astounding $1.28 million for the nonprofit organization. “My goal is to support the mission: celebrating all abilities and unlocking potential,” says Klug. “Everything we do comes back to those six words. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on community support to provide caring, personalized and progressive solutions for a fully inclusive community.” The Tomah, Wis. native, who is wife to Joe and mom to Isabella, 4, and Landon, 1, wants to best use the gifts with which she’s been blessed. “My work at the CP Center has a direct impact on our community and that provides deep meaning to me,” she adds.

Mary Swanson
Community Activist & Volunteer Mary Swanson, 56, is well known for her advocacy for urban living and is considered by many as an “urban pioneer” – she and her husband Dave were some of the first investors in the Riverfront Lofts projects. She also writes a weekly food blog, The Urban Diner, for Downtown Green Bay, Inc. Her efforts don’t stop there, however. She gives back to her community through the American Red Cross and the Brown County Community Women’s Club. She says her philanthropic desires began in her teens while assisting at an elderly care facility and continued through the years – as mom to son, Steve – at school, church and even on the basketball court. Eventually her excitement for living in downtown Green Bay garnered the notice of Downtown Green Bay, Inc. Through her varied interests, she lives by simple phrases for inspiration and direction. “Being positive,” she notes. “Being f lexible. Let others around you shine. Get over yourself.”
Toni Loch
Executive Director, Howe Community Resource Center In 1989, a single mother moved her 4-yearold and 4-month-old to Green Bay to begin her position as executive director of the Family Violence Center/Golden House. In the 10 years that followed, Toni Loch took the agency from a small, grassroots nonprofit to a highly visible program with a new shelter. Now she is the executive director of Howe Community Resource Center. “I worked in domestic violence for 17 years, which was very rewarding,” says Loch, 57. “Now I’m at Howe Community Resource Center where our major focus is making sure all children (prenatal to 5) are healthy, safe and ready to learn.” Loch says one of the best lessons she learned early in her career was to look at “problems” as opportunities to make things better. “I am a life-long learner, and I work to learn from people and situations that can forward the progress of the nonprofit I’m involved in,” she states. 10 | www.greenbaypressgazette.com/you | JUlY 2014
Amy Bailey Community News Editor, Press-Gazette Media Life is a marathon for Amy Bailey, 38, community news editor for Press-Gazette Media. She oversees the Press-Gazette’s metro news reporting team, coordinating coverage of everything from breaking news to insightful, investigative stories. She also pens periodic columns about life as a working mom and avid runner. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she and her husband David moved to Green Bay for their careers. As mom to 6-year-old son Nolan, Bailey has a refreshing take on “the balance” of working mothers. “At a time when there’s so much pressure to be the best, most thoughtful, do-it-all mother, I try to focus on what works best for me and my family instead of trying to be like someone else,” she says. “You know what you’re capable of and you know how to push yourself – so use that as the measuring stick instead of other people. No one else has your background, your talents, your limitations and your motivation.”
Kari Merrill
Group Fitness Director and Personal Trainer, Western Racquet and Fitness Club Kari Merrill, 38, is changing lives on a daily basis. Stemming from a “leap of faith, she changed careers and became a full-time fitness professional in 2010. Now she teaches fun, high-energy and uplifting fitness classes, trains people from many walks of life and many different fitness goals, and is a great advocate for fitness in the community. “I am so blessed to be able to create workouts that people actually enjoy and love to do, says the mom to stepdaughters Vanessa and Savanna, and wife to husband, Joe. “Seeing people getting stronger and more confident inspires me and motivates me. I am so amazed on what the body can accomplish – and seeing people fight to get stronger physically and mentally is what keeps me going. “I also find inspiration from my team of instructors, she adds. “We have such a great team – we support each other and all have the same goal in mind when it comes to helping people.

Denise McGinnis Foster Parent, Hotel Manager, Community Outreach Director, Entrepreneur
The endless energy of Denise McGinnis, 48, helps her maneuver through a varied routine each day. It’s one that has a centralized goal: providing for others. As hotel manager, she engages guests and motivates her staff before heading off to the Community Giving Closet, where she is a community outreach director who helps provide free clothing to those in need. From there, it’s off to work with her children on everything from sports to school activities. She currently provides a loving, caring home to her children Nick and Megan and to three foster children with high needs. “I would say the key is to always have a positive attitude and be ready for anything,” says McGinnis of the balancing act. “Life is going to throw you curve balls, just always be ready for what it gives you. We can’t always change what we are given, but it is our choice how we choose to react and handle it.”
SeongKyung Graham
Conductor/Music Director, Civic Symphony of Green Bay and Fox Valley Symphony Youth Orchestra Conducting was something SeongKyung Graham, 48, never dreamed she would be able to do. But through hard work, determination and inspiration from above, Graham has found great success behind the podium. “I grew up as a singer and thought that was what I had to do even though I wasn’t confident enough at all,” she says. “God had a different plan for me and it was something much better than what I have ever imagined. I didn’t know that I had even a talent of being a conductor until I was 30 years old.” It was only after she met her first orchestral conducting teacher during a topsy-turvy time in life that the path became clear to her, she says. “God showed me why I took the paths that I did for 30 years. I will never forget the experience ... I believe it was no accident, but planned. I just didn’t know it.”
Jennifer Van Den Elzen Director, Live54218
Health and traveling through Latin America have always been passions of Jennifer Van Den Elzen, 29. She launched her career by combining these two areas and earning a Master of Public Health degree in Atlanta with a focus on global health. “My first job was working with community development and basic sanitation in Bolivia,” Van Den Elzen says. “I found my niche in community-based obesity prevention when I returned to the Green Bay Area. I am dedicated to building a community environment that supports healthy choices – from bike lanes to farmers markets to family events.” Her mission, she says, is to make the Greater Green Bay Area the healthiest community in the nation. “I have a great team at Live54218,” she adds, “and am intensely proud of what has been accomplished over the last three years through hard work and awesome collaboration with partners throughout the community.”

Toni Burnett
Executive Director, Children’s Museum of Green Bay The Children’s Museum of Green Bay is enjoying its new digs, courtesy of the hard work of its executive director Toni Burnett and her team. At 54, Burnett says she “gets to do it all” in her role with the museum. “I give direction for programming at the museum, fundraising events, exhibits, operations and most importantly make sure our visitors have a great experience when they visit,” she explains. “People didn’t believe it would get built, but we are up and running and have received a great deal of national attention. [It’s] very exciting.” Burnett is also mother to Alex, 25, and partner to James Dempsey, an interventional radiologist. Professionally, she’s most proud of the museum and its contributions to the community. “I really live my life with the idea that it’s our responsibility to do what we can to make the world a better place,” she states. “To make a difference.”
Denise Wesolowski Chainsaw Sculptress/Artist, Shesaws; breast cancer survivor
At 45, Denise Wesolowski was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was one of the many challenges Wesolowski, now 52, has faced throughout her life. Each of her children –Kyle, 28, Kasie, 26, and Travis, 24 – had a life-threatening illness or injury while growing up. She sees the challenges, however, as an opportunity to count her blessings and set out on new ventures. Inspired by the work of her husband, Jim, through their business Pine Ridge Builders, she took up chainsaw carving in the middle of her cancer treatment. She was also one of five mothers to begin a summer camp program, now known as Camp P.O.P., which services more than 100 disabled children each year. “My parents have always told me that we’re never given more than God thinks we can handle and there is a reason for everything we encounter in our life journey,” she explains. “I continue to grow from what I encountered in my life.”

Katherine Longley Physical Therapist Assistant, St. Vincent Hospital and Woodside Senior Communities; Independent Beauty and Advanced Color Consultant, Mary Kay, Inc. Through her role as a physical therapist assistant, as well as an independent beauty and advanced color consultant with Mary Kay Inc., Katherine Longley, 30, works every day to make people feel better about themselves. “From a very young age, I have had a passion for athletics, health and wellness and people,” she says. “Being active or movement in general makes me happy. It is a passion of mine to help, encourage, motivate and inspire others to choose a healthy and injury-free path in life.” Along with her husband Brandon Longley, Katherine finds inspiration from her parents, Patrick and Julie Deprey. “They have certainly shaped me into the woman I am today,” she explains. “They have taught me that integrity is everything. …They are my role models because they ref lect the person who I want to be. I love, admire and respect them and am so proud to be their daughter.”

Lora Hanson Warner Associate Professor, UW-Green Bay
Karlyn Crowley Director, Cassandra Voss Center; Professor, English and Women’s & Gender Studies, St. Norbert College Karlyn Crowley’s interest in women’s studies began at 19; after taking a class in the field, the rest, she says, is history – the subsequent degrees in the field as well as activism on gender issues has been the work of her life. Now 46, she pours her heart and determination into the Cassandra Voss Center at St. Norbert College. Voss lost her life in a tragic car accident in May 2007. Soon afterward, Voss’ father Kurt approached Crowley with the idea for the center. “People believe in the story of a father and daughter talking to one another across difference and through love,” says Crowley. “The center tries to capture that dialogue especially in a world of such deep partisanship. “It’s my job to help execute the dream of this center — Cassandra Voss was my student and I adored her, as everyone did, and now I need to help my team live up to her inspiration,” she adds.
Lora Hanson Warner, 54, is highly valued for her expertise in environmental and social issues in Brown County. As director of the Center for Public Affairs, she conducts scholarly and community research. She served as the director of the research team for the Brown County LIFE Study, and is a management consultant for nonprofit and government organizations in the summer. She credits her success to relationship building. “Never stop thinking about your credibility and reputation – always be someone that others can trust and can count on to do what you say you will do,” says Warner. As a family, Warner and her husband, Steve, and two sons, Paul and Ben, approach life with a “do something” attitude. “I believe we need to get out there, meet and learn from people in different places and different walks of life, and then get involved,” she explains. “…If we all ‘do something,’ our collective quality of life will grow.”
Julie Fink Fronsee Attorney/Partner, Roels Keidatz Fronsee & Danen, LLP
Through her role as an attorney, Julie Fink Fronsee, 51, helps her clients plan and navigate life changes – both on a personal and business level. She’s also president of Definitely De Pere and a deeply committed Big Sister. “I originally volunteered [for Big Brothers, Big Sisters] because I wanted to be a positive inf luence in someone’s life,” says Fronsee. “I wasn’t interested in a position on the board, or a committee; I wanted the one-on-one time with someone whom I could directly benefit … But the more involved I became, the clearer it became that what I was gaining from the experience far outweighed what I was giving.” Fronsee knows well the difficulties endured when life turns upside down. She found herself a single mother to son Ben, now 27, during her second year of law school in Chicago with no family in the area and in tough financial shape. “Without the support of my family and friends, things would not have turned out as well as they did,” Fronsee ref lects. “When I think of how easily it all could have gone off the tracks, I feel very fortunate.” JULY 2014 | www.greenbaypressgazette.com/you | 15
Kavita Carlson
Leadership Coach, Organizational Development Consultant and Psychotherapist, American Foundation of Counseling Services, Inc. As the woman who spearheads the Women in Leadership Seminar, Kavita Carlson has been an invaluable source of information and inspiration to area female leadership. “My aspiration to contribute to the greater good coupled with my desire to build relationships, has led me to every initiative I have taken on,” explains Carlson. And, she says, there’s still more work to do. “There are many issues facing women today: we still do the lion’s share of caring for our families at every life stage,” says the wife and mother of two. “At the same time many of us want to or have to have careers, so most women have little time to take care of themselves. I also cannot profess to be a proponent of women in leadership without mentioning the gender gap that still exists at high levels in organizations … Men and women need to come together and work collaboratively to make changes and make things more equitable.”
Shannon Wescott
Manager of Adult Day Services, ASPIRO As the manager of Adult Day Services at ASPIRO in Green Bay, Shannon Wescott, 39, oversees a department of 16 individuals who provide day programs for individuals with significant disabilities. She and her husband Mark have an 8-year-old son, Carter, and are also adult family home providers – they support Lawrence, a 72-year-old gentleman with special needs. “Most of what I do, even outside of my work, consists of helping those with special needs,” says Wescott. “I have recently helped to establish Living Loud Inc. - The Jordan Hischke Foundation, whose mission is to provide education, resources and support to people with disabilities and their families.” With great commitment to family and career, Wescott says her greatest inspiration comes from those who surround her daily at ASPIRO. “They have taught me things about myself that I otherwise wouldn’t have known,” she says, “and I continue to learn things from them every day.” 16 | www.greenbaypressgazette.com/you | JUlY 2014
Deborah Mauthe
Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Prevea Health Dubbed “The Heart” of Prevea, Deb Mauthe, 60, is a senior leader in the organization. Colleagues say her firm and fair leadership shows she truly cares about the people within her organization and the patients they serve. “My greatest professional honor has been to be a part of building Prevea; to be part of the culture development where our patients and our staff are our top priority,” says Mauthe, who’s been with the organization for 19 years. Outside of her career, Mauthe says her parents continue to enlighten her, and she’s also indebted to her sisters and her friends, the Ya Yas. In her spare time, she gives back to children’s organizations, which is a nod to her original career path – kindergarten teacher. “The world gets more complicated by the day for children and giving back, contributing in some small way, to making this a great world for children of all abilities to grow up in is so rewarding,” she adds.

Get out of debt and build your savings. That may not seem like career advice, but let me explain how it applies. When you are financially secure, and don’t fear losing your job, confidence at work comes naturally. You’re less likely to take on more than you can handle, which means you won’t burnout as easily. In turn, you’ll feel empowered to speak up about things you really care about, without worrying if it’s the right thing to say. How much savings? Six months of living expenses is recommended. I share this advice
Recommended Reading: from a place of humility and serving. I know you want to get ahead, too. You want to be happy. You want the perfect career, whatever your definition of perfect may be. I believe you can have that, or at least a good version of that, with the right mindset. Imagine. Your dream job may be radically different than the one you’re in. Ask yourself: If I had enough savings to pursue whatever work I wanted, what would I do? The answer could change your life, as it did mine five years ago. Here are a few more mindsets that will help:
Focus. Young adult author
Matt de la Peña said, “It’s all about how hard you work when no one is watching.” This is true of writing, but also of every career. You have to put in the hours. You can work smarter and turn off your phone, your browser, whatever it takes. Becoming an expert in your field will take time. Getting a degree will take time. Remember: no one has to understand how many revisions it takes to finish a novel, except you.
Your attitude. No one
likes a complainer. Instead, find solutions to problems, not barriers, and share these things with your boss and colleagues. Better yet, go ahead and implement the solutions yourself.

Celebrate others’ success. We all get jealous
sometimes. We all get rejected, passed up for promotion, and left out. It’s easy to focus on the negative—and even get caught up in drama—but what if you could celebrate the good, and really leave it at that? My Great Grandmother used to say, “There are lots of pebbles on the beach.” She meant boyfriends, but I think her advice applies to opportunity as well.
Don’t worry about what book will sell.
Don’t worry about what career will be hot in the next 10 years, or what will make you the most money. Instead, follow author, philosopher, theologian, educator and civil rights leader Howard Thurman’s advice: “Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” That’s why I write fiction, and why I feel more alive and content than I ever dreamed.

your style Story by Kirsty Gungor of www.loveliesinmylife.com Photos by Andrea Naylor Photography at AndreaNaylor.com
The working girl is all about a professional wardrobe, devoting 80 percent of her closet space to blazers and trousers and, in these gorgeous warmer months, a collection of easy skirts and dresses. I wholly embrace the sweet lightness of summer clothing, those cotton eyelet dresses, the linen and chambray separates and the sophisticated nautical stripes. These classic favorites style just as beautifully in understated workwear looks as they do for those dressed up dinners and weekend adventures. With each season comes a new trend, sometimes short-lived but always exciting. I’m taking three of my favorite summer trends and styling them for work, then freshening them up for an evening out.
Crop Top
Crop tops are one of summer’s bravest trends. You either love them or you hate them! The key to wearing a cropped top in a stylish and tasteful way is to show just a peek of your midsection by pairing it with a high waist. Try to stick with longer skirts and looser trousers for a more flattering silhouette and to keep the utmost modesty, throw on a linen blazer. For a stroll through the Wednesday farmers market, let the sun warm your skin and slip on a pair of sandals with some chunky beaded bangles. Look 1 (left): top - Zara blazer - H&M skirt - flea market wedges - Target
Look 2 (right): bracelets & basket flea market shoes - Aldo continued on page 22 >>> JULY 2014 | www.greenbaypressgazette.com/you | 21

Sheer Dress
The sheer dress has proved to be surprisingly beautiful. The key is in its layering and I like to start with a basic (tummy tucking!) spaghetti strap slip dress. I’ve then added a sheer lace maxi, comfortable and elegant. As a final layer, a shorter sheer dress in a dusty pink. This achieves a stunning combination of textures and colors, creating a look perfect for the romantic aesthetic. For a warm summer evening spent at downtown’s Taste on Broadway, I’d wear just the two shorter dresses together. The exquisite bead work on that top layer will sparkle under the street lights as the sun sets. Finish off the look with a pair of knee high gladiator sandals, a shoe trend that’s best paired with a skirt length that’s well above the knee. Look 1 (left): slip dress - hey daisy! maxi dress & beaded dress - Free People vest - Forever 21 shoes - Gap

Look 2 (below): shoes - Charlotte Russe clutch – Anthropologie
your style White Denim
White is that perfect crisp neutral, sublimely worn with a summer tan and extraordinarily versatile. A pair of white jeans are a classic piece, a summer lover’s staple. To dress up a pair for work, you simply slip on a blazer in an unexpected jewel tone. To transition to an evening dining al fresco, simply replace the blazer with a chambray shirt. Don’t hesitate to indulge in the dazzling footwear as your boldest shoes and accessories will pair perfectly with these neutrals. Look 1 (left): blazer - Charlotte Russe blouse - Aerie jeans - Gap necklace - Madewell

Heard on the Street Good news about amazing things happening in our community By Amelia Compton Wolff
Yoga for a Cause • Yogis with heart have a new way of supporting local nonprofits while deepening their yoga practice at Jenstar Yoga & Dance studio in De Pere. Once a month, the five-monthold studio will host donation-based classes with proceeds benefiting a local non-profit. Classes are an hour in length and taught at a beginner level so yogis age 10 and up are encouraged to attend. “A lot of families brought older children,” says owner Jen Berres-Dart of the first Yoga for a Cause class which took place on June 1. “I think it’s cool for kids to see giving to something bigger than themselves.” The June 1 class raised $475 for Exceptional Equestrians in De Pere, a non-profit that provides equine-assisted therapies to individuals with special needs. “I’m keeping it very local – local charities, causes and organizations – to help them fund whatever cause they have,” says Berres-Dart who has been teaching yoga for five years, in Green Bay for the past three. Each beneficiary has a representative attend class to speak about their organization. A minimum donation of $10 is suggested, which is slightly less than the normal class fee. Upcoming Yoga for a Cause classes are as follows: July 27 at 5 p.m., benefiting Live54218; August 24 at 5 p.m. benefiting Sidekicks Special Olympics group; September 7 at 5 p.m. benefiting myTEAM TRIUMPH. “I really like a sense of community,” Berres-Dart says. “I like feeling a part of something and that we do things together.” Bringing your own yoga mat is recommended as classes fill quickly and loaner mats tend to run out. Visit www. jenstaryoga.com for more information on yoga, barre and belly dance classes. 28 | www.greenbaypressgazette.com/you | JUlY 2014
Wisconsin author releases new book • “When the Shoe Fits…Essays of Love, Life and Second Chances” is a collection of essays by award-winning Wisconsin author and attorney Mary T. Wagner. The book will be available on Amazon in both e-book and paperback on August 1. When a hard fall from a tall horse landed Wagner—then a freelance writer and a soccer mom with four young children—in a body cast for three months, she didn’t take it as a sign to ease back on the throttle. Instead, at 40 years old, she changed careers, went to law school and took a job as a criminal prosecutor. Whether ref lecting on subjects as diverse as motherhood, the view from the back of a Harley, the impending loss of a parent or the therapeutic effects of a post-divorce bonfire, Wagner’s inspiring and empowering essays resonate with universal experiences of love, life and reinvention. A Chicago native, Wagner now lives in rural Wisconsin where she draws much inspiration for writing from daily walks in the countryside. Learn more at www.marytwagner.com.
