Get ready for the 2015 Fair! The 2015 Manitowoc County Fair is set for August 25-30 and the theme is “Sew It! Grow It! Show It!” Colors this year are orange and royal blue. The Manitowoc County Fairbook has all the open class rules and regulations for exhibiting at the 2015 Manitowoc County Fair. There is something for everyone! All you need to do is fill out the Open Class Registration form, list the department, class and lot number of the item or items you would like to enter and send in your form no later than July 15 to the Expo Office. You can also submit your entries online by visiting our website at www.manitowocountyexpo. com. Daily admission to the fair is only $10 and includes carnival rides, parking, grandstand shows, music pavilion entertainment and more. The Manitowoc County Fair is a great way to spend the day enjoying judging, viewing exhibits and animals, as well as listening to music and catching a great show in the grandstand. Come out and see our new Educational and Agriculture area located by the Milk Parlor and enjoy the Talent Show Competition set for Wednesday, August 26 at 2pm in the Ice Center. You must be between the ages of two to eighteen to compete. If you are interested in participating in the Talent Show Competition, please contact the Expo Office at 920-683-4378. OPEN CLASS DAIRY CATTLE Department 101

Superintendent Lee Glaeser – 920-726-4533 Email: cheeks@lakefield.net 1. Open Class Registration Deadline – July 15. 2. Entry Day – Wednesday, August 26. Animals must be in place by 2pm in the Dairy Cattle Barn. 3. Judging Day – Thursday, August 27, at 9am. 4. Release Day – Sunday, August 30, starting at 5:30pm. 5. Stall Rent – a stall rent of $1 per animal and a manure fee of $4 per animal will be charged and paid at the time of registration. 6. PDCA Rule requires white pants to be worn during Open Class exhibition. 7. All exhibitors of animals three (3) years old and over in any of the procreative classes of this department must produce evidence, if asked, indicating the animals are not barren. 8. Breeding cows must have produced a living calf within two (2) years preceding the day of the exhibit. 9. All animals must be registered in the name of the exhibitor or farm name and certificate of registry presented to the superintendents. The Registered Holstein Ancestry (RHA) must be 87% or higher to show in the registered Black & White Holstein classes. 10. Only one (1) prize in group or herd classes to one (1) exhibitor. No more than two (2) entries per entry number may receive premiums in individual classes. 11. All decorations must fit on the 11-12 inch furnished boards, they cannot be any wider than the boards. 12. State regulations prohibit the sale of milk for human consumption that is produced other than in proper facilities. The dairy cattle exhibitors have voted that the proceeds from the sale of milk produced at the fair be used to improve dairy facilities. Thank you for your cooperation! 13. Any required health certificates/copies must remain in the Expo office during the fair. 14. It is suggested that at least thirty (30) days prior to the Manitowoc County Fair, all dairy animals receive a 9-way and a Pasturella vaccination. All stalls must be cleaned Sunday, August 30, or exhibitor forfeits all premiums. 7. Exhibitors must be legal residents of Manitowoc County. 8. Horses must be owned by exhibitor on entry blank and can be shown by the exhibitor or a member of the family residing in Manitowoc County. Family member consists of: spouse, son, daughter, step-son, or step-daughter. 9. No leased horses. Registration papers must be shown at time of entry. 10. No more than one (1) animal may be shown in each lot number by one (1) exhibitor. 11. HEALTH REGULATIONS: See WI County, District, & State Fairs 2015 Animal Health Rules and Regulations located on the Web site. Any required health certificates/copies must remain in the Expo office during the fair. 12. Animal must be identified by name on the entry form at the time of entry (use the “Any Other ItemList” column). Failure to identify will eliminate the entry. 13. Registered animals must have papers and be shown to superintendent at time of entry at fair. 14. Handler of any stallion over one (1) year old as of January 1 must be 18 years old and over; NO EXCEPTIONS. 15. All horses must have their 2015 Coggins papers checked by the superintendent before unloading. 16. Horses must be loaded and unloaded to the East of the horse arena behind the barns. No unloading or loading horses in front of the barns. 17. Class list and Exhibitor Numbers will be handed out when the horses are checked in. 18. All horses will be assigned a stall in the horse barns or if the number of entries warrant, in a tent. 19. Tack stalls by request, subject to availability. 20. Any horse out of its stall must be attended at all times. 21. Hard-soled shoes or boots with heels are required. 22. S.E.I. Approved helmet, with safety harness securely fastened, is required for all exhibitors under 18 when riding or driving, and are highly recommended for all! 23. Single Draft horse with cart for men and Single Draft horse cart for women must be a different animal. 24. Exhibitors in Restricted lot numbers may not enter any canter classes. 25. Draft horses may be ridden in Gymkhana classes for ribbon awards only. 26. Superintendent(s) reserve the right to combine classes to keep the show running smoothly. Leg bands can be purchased from the Superintendents. A list of numbers & colors should be supplied to the Superintendent on Entry Day. 8. All specimens entered in this department will be judged by comparison, American Standard of Perfection shall govern. Any entries not fitting the class will be disqualified. 9. No crossbred birds in purebred classes. 10. The Manitowoc County Fair will not be responsible for any loss or damage to stock, but will exercise reasonable care in caring for exhibits. 11. When enough birds are entered to fill the coops, all other entries will be returned. 12. Class will include the following: adult cocks, adult hens, 2015 cocks and 2015 hens. An exhibit shall consist of birds hatched after January 1, 2015 (pullets & cockerel). Prior to 2015 (cocks & hens). 13. Exhibitors are encouraged to padlock cages to prevent vandalism. (Must be unlocked on Judging Day). 14. Each exhibitor must furnish their own feed, feeding and watering utensils, bedding and care for their own poultry on a daily basis. Please use shavings only as bedding in cages (no straw, please). If you must use something other than shavings, you must clean out your cage at release time on Sunday. 15. PULLORUM Testing – All poultry except pigeons must be certified Pullorum-Typhoid free. Exhibitors must have proof that their birds are pullorum free when bringing them in on entry day. Exhibitor must also submit a copy for permanent record. When purchasing young birds, ask for paperwork (documentation) stating the animal is pullorum free. Birds must be tested three (3) weeks prior to the Fair.

OPEN CLASS DOGS Department 109

Superintendent – Trina Haberland – 920-864-3392 1. Open Class Registration Deadline – July 15. 2. Judging Day – Monday, August 24, at 5:15pm, in the Ice Arena. Open Class will be judged with the Junior Fair Dogs, scoring will be kept separate. 3. Check-In – 5pm. 4. To be eligible, the dog must be six (6) months old, purebred or mixed breed. 5. Dogs will wear a collar and shall be led with a leather or fabric lead six (6) feet long. Dogs will not be permitted off lead except when being judged. Exhibitors must keep dogs under control at all times. 6. All dogs are required to have had distemper, parvo, and rabies inoculations before being allowed to enter the fair. Copy of required vaccinations must be submitted at check-in time. 7. Female dogs in season will not be permitted to enter the ring, exhibitors should report to the ring. 8. Any dog gaining a CD or CDX before January 1, must be shown at the next highest class. 9. Crates and cages in designated areas only! 10. Ribbon Awards Only. 11. Dogs winning a first blue in their obedience class the previous year must show in a class higher this year. Example – the dog wins a first blue in pre-novice last year must show in Novice this year. No talking or comments to the judge or around the judge while he/she is judging a class. Questions can only be asked between classes. 20. No overripe entries allowed or they will be disqualified and discarded on judging day by the judge/superintendent due to possible insect infestation. Any crops that become overripe during the course of the fair will be discarded by any superintendent or fair board member. 21. Closed Judging! In preparation of the exhibit, please clean or polish before entering only if it does not devaluate the item. Write on the Exhibitor’s card, “The item was not cleaned because this would devaluate the item” to inform the judge that through research you found that the item would be devaluated if cleaned.
