Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy

Dear friends, I am pleased to write this message of support for the 2012 Money Smart Week Wisconsin, scheduled for April 21-28 in communities across the state. At least 26 organizing committees have planned hundreds of Money Smart Week events with the assistance of thousands of volunteers. Wisconsin consumers will be able to attend outstanding sessions on a variety of financial topics ranging from personal budgeting, to investing, to planning for retirement. Education is the key to financial survival and success in these fast-changing economic times. Through the efforts of the Money Smart Week Wisconsin organization and hundreds of business and community partners, educational opportunities will abound during this week-long focus on personal finance. Most of the events are free of charge. On behalf of the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy, I encourage all Wisconsin citizens to take advantage of the Money Smart Week activities in their communities. First held in 2006 in Wisconsin, Money Smart Week is an annual event that truly makes a difference in the lives of many Wisconsin citizens. I hope you and your families will join in the wonderful programs that will be made available as part of Money Smart Week. Sincerely,

Tonette Walker First Lady of Wisconsin Ambassador, Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy
