Italian Sausage & Peppers
Pastichio
Tony Burgarino’s delicious homemade Italian sausages are smothered with roasted onions, mushrooms and peppers in a delectable cacciatore sauce. Mangia! Mangia!
Pastichio is a hearty traditional Greek pasta served mainly during special occasions and holidays. It is a family favorite for the young and old. It starts with a long, hollow pasta, blended with butter, olive oil and grated mizithra cheese from Greece. The pasta is layered with a chopped meat mixture of sauteed onion, cinnamon, nutmeg, tomato paste and red wine. All of this is then topped off with a fluffy layer of bechamel sauce and baked. Perfect for a chilly evening!
German Booth
Food prepared and donated by: Rick & Jerilynn Gill, Gill’s Bar & Grill Chairperson: Rick Gill
Sauerbraten & Spatzle
Some years back Milwaukee’s famous German restaurant, Mader’s, was kind enough to give their recipe for sauerbraten to the Milwaukee Journal. Here it is! Marinated sirloin tip roast with a ginger snap gravy, served with spatzle.
Nacht Wurst
Try this traditional German sausage, rich in spices and ground to perfection. Served with sauerkraut.
Baked Mostaccioli
Tube shaped pasta is bathed in Tony’s family recipe meat sauce. It’s baked to perfection with mozzarella, asiago and romano cheeses. Delicioso!
Athenian Salad
Imagine yourself at a seaside tavern (Greek-restaurant style) sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying a mouth-watering feast as your eyes are locked on the breathtakingly beautiful blue sea. This scene would surely include a salad made with the freshest village ingredients. We will share with you a Greek favorite, the salad. To add an American twist we added a nice sampling of the tasty, unique Greek gyro meat. It compliments the crisp greens, kalamata olives, feta cheese and fresh tomatoes topped off with a perfect Greek vinaigrette. It is sure to become a favorite.
Italian Sliced Bread
Gurkensalat
A tasty German cucumber salad. Thinly sliced cucumbers and onions are layered and seasoned with a splash of vinegar and sprinkled with salt and pepper. Too bad there won’t be any leftovers - it tastes even better the next day!
A compliment to the above choices.
Retsina (Wine)
This dry white table wine is a truly Greek original, unchanged since the ancient wine festivals, in honor of Dionysus, the Greek god of wine.
“The difference? Quality.”
