ADAMS COUNTY DESTINATIONS PETENWELL AND CASTLE ROCK LAKES Two of the best-kept secrets in Wisconsin are Petenwell and Castle Rock lakes, the second- and fourth-largest inland lakes in the state, together covering more than 60 square miles. In Adams County, the shores of Petenwell and Castle Rock Lake are dotted with public launch sites, and visitors can enjoy water-skiing, swimming, sailing and boating on its beautiful blue waters. Spectacular sunsets await along the many miles of wooded shoreline. For the angler, there are walleye, northern pike, bass and perch lurking just beneath the surface.
ROME Located on the northern border of Adams County and the edge of Petenwell Lake, the town of Rome offers myriad recreation choices and scenic country vistas. ATV riding and camping are among the many activities summer visitors to Rome can enjoy. Highway 13 south of Wisconsin Rapids and north of Friendship.
ROCHE-A-CRI STATE PARK The 300 foot sandstone mesa, from which the park derives its name, once was an island in glacial Lake Wisconsin. The summit, now accessible by a stairway of solid white-oak planks, offers a breathtaking, 120-mile panorama. The varied terrains of the 425-acre park, include grasslands, open cliffs, pine barrens, oak forest, prairie and the meandering Carter Creek. Roche-A-Cri State Park offers 42 wooded campsites. There are toilets, water and picnic tables. The park has four miles of marked hiking trails. 1767 Highway 13 in Friendship.

LEVIS MOUND, TROW MOUND TRAILS The Levis Mound and Trow Mound recreational trail in southern Clark County features 25 miles of mountain bike trails offering riders a variety of terrain, from easy wooded singletrack to technical pitches. The trails also feature views of the surrounding 133,000 acre county forest. The trail system began as a cross-country ski trail and has grown to over 30 kilometers of expertly groomed trails for cross-country skiing. LANGLADE COUNTY DESTINATIONS ICE AGE TRAIL Dust off your hiking boots and head to Langlade County. Boasting 50 miles of the thousandmile Ice Age Trail you can get a taste for the Trail on any of fi ve segments that run through the county.
MOCCASIN LAKE TRAIL At 5.5 miles long, the Moccasin Lake Trail is used both for hiking and horseback riding in the summer months. Located west of Elcho, this area features a variety of rolling terrain, and is highlighted by two river basins. Facilities include a parking area, restrooms, warming shelter with firewood and tables. From Antigo, travel north on Highway 45 for approximately 18 miles. Next, turn left onto Enterprise Lake Road. Then, go west on Moccasin Lake Road to Bear Road. Finally, go south on Bear Road for one mile to the trail head.

PRAIRIE TRAILS PARK Merrill’s newest park is located near the corner of Highway G and Highway K along the Prairie River. This 99-acre park features 2.5 miles of pedestrian trails along the Prairie River, which is a Class "A" trout stream. The park features a scenic overlook, outdoor education pavilion, boardwalk, bridge, two canoe landings, a handicap accessible fishing pier and parking.
COUNCIL GROUNDS STATE PARK Located along the Wisconsin River, this park offers something for almost everyone. The 508-acre park offers a variety of activities and sights year round. There are 55 campsites with showers and flush toilets and 19 sites with electricity. There is a 217-foot beach with plenty of room for swimming and sun bathing. MARATHON COUNTY DESTINATIONS WOODSON HISTORY CENTER AND YAWKEY HOUSE MUSEUM Home to the Marathon County Historical Society, the Woodson History Center is a brick home built in 1914 with a rich history. Today it contains a library and archives, artifacts and exhibits. Across the street lies the Cyrus and Alice Yawkey house, a 1900/1901 Classical Revival styled house. It features beautiful stained glass windows, art glass lighting fixtures and many original Yawkey furnishings. A small entrance fee is charged for non-members of the Society. A formal garden, complete with pergola, pond and fountain is open to the public from April to October.

PRICE COUNTY DESTINATIONS FLAMBEAU TRAIL SYSTEM The 70-miles of trails that wind through the ChequamegonNicolet National Forest are used by ATVs, UTVs and off-road motorcycles, as well as mountain bikes, horses and other non-motorized activities. The trail system is highlighted by rolling terrain, tree-lined corridors, wooden bridges, and vistas overlooking bogs and lakes. HIGH POINT TRAIL The Trail at Timm’s Hill County Park is a shared use trail used by bikers and hikers. The trail consists of narrow single track over rolling terrain. There are some steep hills on this trail. The trail climbs to the lookout tower at the top of Timm’s Hill, the highest geographical point in Wisconsin.
KIMBERLY-CLARK WILDLIFE AREA This 8,700 acre property located 12 miles west of Phillips in Price County consists of bracken fern grasslands, upland aspen/fir, northern hardwoods and tamarack/black spruce bog. This wildlife area has 3 nesting pairs of osprey and an active eagle nest. This DNR property is primarily managed for sharptail grouse, deer, turkey and bear. You may also see wolves, coyotes, badgers, foxes, sandhill cranes and numerous other bird species.
