These com m ittees direct their efforts toward the study of various aspects of psychiatry and the application of this knowledge to the fields of mental health and h uman relations. Collaboration with specialists in other disciplines has been and is one of GA P's working pri nci ples . Since the formation of GAP in 1 946 its members have worked closel y with such other s pecialists as anthropologists, biologists, economists , statisti cians, educators , lawyers, nurses, psychologists, sociologist s , s o cial w o rk e r s , a n d e x p e rts i n m ass c o m m u nicati o n , philosophy, and semant ics .
