We hope that you had an incredible time last week at our Thanksgiving celebrations. Everyone was out in full force to enjoy the excellent work of our culinary and food & beverage teams, along with another successful Turkey Trot managed by our incredible Strata team.
Now we prepare for the end of year holiday events, which is my favorite time of the year at the club. It’s a particularly special time to enjoy the special social aspects of your club and for us to know what a close and strong community we have created and share together.
The property is alive with the spirit of the season, as we’ve continued to enhance our holiday decorations for your pleasure. The exterior tree holiday lights are shining bright, the gingerbread house and interior decorations are set, and the crispness of the air lends to the joy felt by all. I hope to see you enjoying all the Club has to offer during this very special time of the year.
Plan your Saturday and Sunday shopping days by starting at the Grand View dining room with brunch ordered a la carte. Be sure to mark Sunday, December 18th on your calendar for Santa’s Brunch Buffet beginning at 10:00 a.m., this will give your children a last opportunity to let Santa know what they want for Christmas. Don’t forget also to come by the main lobby of the Lodge anytime to leave notes for Santa in our north pole mailbox.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Grand View, Kissing Camels Grille and Bar, or the Rocks Lounge. Festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. through midnight. Whether you are looking for an early evening or want to bring in the New Year at midnight, we have several celebrations for you to choose to bring in the New Year.
Kids’ Club has a full itinerary of events for the holidays beginning on Friday, December 2nd with Movie Night with Santa, Christmas Ornament Decorating on December 9th, and Gingerbread House Building on December 17th

MINDFUL EATING FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Many social gatherings during the holidays can mean many delicious treats. That can be a challenge, though; “Do I eat this, or do I eat that and still stay healthy?” is a common question during this time of year. To a degree, many of us associate the holidays and being with friends and family with more food than usual. The good news is that you have the power to choose healthy responses for making good eating decisions.
It first starts when you think about why you want to make healthy eating choices. You may want to stay strong and energetic or continue to keep up with your children and grandchildren. It can also be to manage your weight, avoid having your clothes fit tighter, maintain your athletic performance, and avoid negative moods. For any of these reasons, setting a mindful intention as soon as you wake up each morning to choose healthy behaviors fulfills the answer to that “Why?” you asked yourself earlier.
Here are some strategies: When at a social gathering with a buffet, choose a small plate and sample a little of each item that catches your eye. You certainly don’t have to try everything, but allowing yourself a small taste ensures that you won’t feel deprived. Only consume a small amount of alcohol and sweets not only to save calories but to avoid that post sugar slump. When you do treat yourself, take time to savor and enjoy each nibble!
These are three questions to ask yourself before starting your special occasion meal to set your best mindful intentions:
● Why am I hungry? Is my stomach really growling, or is it because this is when we “all eat”?
● How hungry am I?
● How do I want to feel after I eat? Sluggish or energized? Motivated to keep making healthy choices?
The first step in choosing a healthy balance when it comes to eating and drinking during the holidays is to choose “mindful intentions” so that you are aware of what you’re doing versus being on autopilot. Let yourself set those intentions at the start of the day and remind yourself often, and you’ll find a much more mindful, enjoyable, and healthy approach as a result versus a stressful situation later.

FROST DELAYS: The return of cold mornings means frost delays will be making a comeback. While these delays can be frustrating, the temporary inconvenience helps protect the long term playing quality. The golf shop staff will send notifications via email to those affected by these potential delays. If we can start earlier than 10am due to warmer temperatures, we will do our best to accommodate.
GOLF COURSE AND PRACTICE RANGE: Please make sure you are dressed appropriately when using the golf course and practice range. Proper attire consists of: Collared shirts that are tucked in, appropriate length bottoms, no denim, no warm ups, and proper footwear (soft spikes/sneakers) and hat bills should be forward facing. When in doubt please ask a member of the Professional Staff for assistance.
