2022 JULY GARDEN OF THE GODS RESORT AND CLUB MEMBER NEWSLETTER

Dear Members, I hope this edition of our Membership Newsletter finds you and your families well and enjoying the summer. We are excited to welcome our new Vice President of Food and Beverage Ante Kulusic and look forward to you meeting him. Ante began with us in mid-June. He is originally from Croatia and brings distinguished hospitality experience to Garden of the Gods Resort and Club with exceptional hotel, cruise, and resort experience. He has worked in luxury as well as casual environments and he brings a wealth of understanding of service standards to share with the Food and Beverage Team. Please join us in welcoming Ante Kulusic to the Club. It has been wonderful to see the property so full of members enjoying themselves in June and partaking in our numerous member events and activities. Whether it was at the Music Under the Star’s event on June 18th with the incredible band The Sofa Killers for which we had rave reviews and lots of dancing, our Father’s Day events, our two Sunday Brunches, the Smoochers Ladies Tournament or at one of the racquetball offerings with our new Director of Racquet Sports, Greg Heartt, we are happy to see so many of you out and enjoying yourselves. The month of July is likewise full of member events beginning with the July 4th Celebration. Festivities will start at 11:00 a.m. at the Recreation Center Pool with a robust food station and featuring games and activities for both young members and adults to enjoy both in and out of the pool. Be sure to bring your best hula-hoop style and your sense of fun to participate in the popular contests. Then, be at the driving range with your lawn chairs or blankets as the evening will start at 5:30 p.m. with food stations, bars, glow sticks and beach balls. The Jonny Mogambo Band will take the stage at 5:45 p.m. with music to rock the celebration of Independence Day. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:20 p.m. This legacy event is not to be missed by you and your guests. Make note too of the many offerings being provided by our incredible Strata Medical, Spa and Fitness teams as they elevate their activities and events for you. If you have wanted to learn to play pickleball, Greg Heartt is adding beginner and intermediate clinics on Sunday afternoons. Please see the Racquetball section of the Newsletter for more details. Speaking of pickleball, six new courts are now open for member play at the south end of the Lodge campus along with three new tennis courts. Reservations for courts should be made through the Member Portal. Sunday Brunch will continue to be offered at the Grand View on Sunday, July 10th and 24th and is growing in popularity. We will also be hosting yet another Chef’s Dinner on Friday, July 22nd and the menu looks incredible and is listed in the Food and Beverage section of the Newsletter. Enjoy July with friends and family and be well. Most sincerely, . James Gibson President and CEO

Warm weather, longer days, blue skies, bright sunshine and all that summer brings us is meant for outdoor playtime. But, be sure that you are adequately protected from the sun and our environment. Sun exposure is the number one offender to skin aging and melanoma. And is something that we can easily address. Antioxidants, particularly a topical vitamin C serum, reinforce your skin’s natural protection from UV, IR-A and HEV light, pollution, and harsh weather conditions. Daily use of a topical antioxidant serum will neutralize the free radical damage caused by UV and environmental aggressors. Using a full spectrum mineral-based sunscreen will give you a physical block from UV light and the damage that it can cause. The key, however, is to remember to reapply! That’s where most of us fall short. We slather up before heading out but forget that most sunscreens/blocks break down over time and are no longer protecting our skin. Be sure to read the instructions on the packaging. Most sunscreens/ blocks will only last 2-4 hours.
