Dear Members, The leaves are beginning to turn, the sun and moon rises are particularly stunning, and we look forward to fun filled October events for our members. Garden of the Gods Resort and Club is truly a stunning place this time of year and we hope that you enjoy the month. We would like to invite you to several events you have enjoyed in years past, as well as those that are new for the month of October. Neiman Marcus will be back with the latest fashions and trends presented during a special luncheon on Wednesday October 6th in The Grand View dining room. This is your opportunity to meet fine jewelry designer, Debra Navarro. A pop-up shop will follow the fashion show so that you may choose gifts for yourself or as a present for a loved one. We are always looking to provide something new and for October we have a special event called The Fall Festival which will occur on Saturday October 16th from 2pm until 6pm. This is your chance to ride a mechanical bull or visit a beer garden. There will also be crafts and games for the kids, a pumpkin patch, pony rides, a petting zoo and food concessions. The Fall Festival is a day for the whole family and will occur on the golf range, so mark your calendars and come out to enjoy a fun time. Chef Ricardo Morfin of the local AMBLI Restaurant will join our own Executive Chef Thomas Hartwell to present a Member Dinner with a Mexican flair on the evening of Wednesday October 20th in the Grand View dining room. Wine pairings will also be available for each of the courses if you choose to add to your experience. More information on pricing and menu’s will be forthcoming but mark the date now as it’s sure to be a popular event. In addition, get your costumes out and plans made to participate in our annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday October 30th at the Kissing Camels Clubhouse parking area. It’s always fun to wander from trunk to trunk gathering treats and to enter our costume and car/golf cart decorating contests. If you would like to decorate your trunk and participate, let Jasmine in Kids Club know and she can be of assistance.

Pool Closures The Rec Center Pool is now closed. Three Graces Pool with zero entry and two lap lane opportunities at 6:00 a.m. daily is scheduled to close on October 31st. The Infinity Pool will continue to remain open year-round but will return to family swim beginning November 1st during the winter.

DUE TO POTENTIAL FROST DELAYS IN OCTOBER, STARTING TIMES WILL BEGIN AT 8:30 A.M. FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH. From the Superintendent: FROST…the dreaded five-letter word. Frost is basically frozen dew that has crystallized on the grass, making it hard and brittle. Walking on frost-covered grass causes the plant to break and cell walls to rupture, thereby losing its ability to function normally. Damage in the fall is always worse because the plants do not have enough time to recover as they enter the winter. It is imperative that we wait for frost to burn off before we begin maintenance or allow play on the golf course. To help with the inevitable frost delays we will be moving tee times to 8:30 a.m. in October. Our goal is to get players out on the course as early as possible, but with shorter days the frost tends to last longer into the morning hours. Waiting out the frost before your round this time of year will help the course enter the winter in much better health, which leads to a healthier spring. The maintenance staff will stay in contact with the golf staff to inform you when the course is ready for play. Thank you for your cooperation. Steve Blais Golf Course Superintendent 9

Adult Tennis Program August 31st - December 19th, 2021 Drills are essential for players at all levels because efficient technique is the cornerstone of every great player. However, drills for beginners are different than for an advanced player. Choose your level. 15 WEEKS • Saturday Tennis Drills: 2.5 & 3.0 | 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. ($20), 3.0 & 3.5 | 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. ($25), 3.5 & above 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. $25 • 2.5 Program: Learn to judge where the ball is going & improve court coverage. Participants should be able to sustain a short, slow-paced rally with other players of the same ability. Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Member Drop-in: $25 • 3.0 Program: Adult players of this level are fairly consistent when hitting medium paced balls, but not entirely comfortable with all strokes. The most common doubles formation is one up, one back. CO-ED Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. $25 • 3.5 Program: Adult players of this level have improved court coverage and are developing teamwork in doubles. This player has dependable strokes, but lacks depth and variety. Get your reps in and improve your skills.
