GOOD NEWS!

Charitable Gift Annuity payment rates increase!

Now more than ever, a gift annuity might be right for you. A Charitable Gift Annuity has always been a joy-filled way to support our vibrant community at Garden Spot Village and to make a tax-smart gift that provides you guaranteed payments for life—even during challenging economic times. Annuity income rates increased—again —beginning January 1, 2023, offering payments between 5.4 and 9.7% depending on your age. If your passion is to give more generously, but want to preserve and protect much-needed income too, establishing a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) might be a beneficial path for you.

Establishing a Charitable Gift Annuity can be a smart and meaningful way to increase your philanthropic commitment to Garden Spot Village. If you would like to receive a no-obligation, confidential illustration with your personalized rate, payment information and projected tax deduction, please reach out to Elyse Kauffman at elyse.kauffman@everence.com, or Wendy Nagle, Director of Development, at 717-355-6215.

Gift annuity payments to annuitants are backed by the assets of the issuing entity. Advisory services and securities may be offered through a third-party registered investment advisor or registered broker-dealer that is not affiliated with Everence Trust Company. Investments and other investment-related and/or securities products are not NCUA or otherwise federally insured, may involve loss of principal and have no credit union guarantee.

FEBRUARY FOCUS: Mennonite Life + Genealogy

Mennonite Life’s visitor’s center, archive and historic library, as well as the museum and the biblical tabernacle experience, located on Millstream Road, just off Route 30 in Lancaster, provides an incredible perspective of the Mennonite community and its history in Lancaster County. This cultural center offers educational opportunities for guests of all ages.

Garden Spot Village is pleased to partner with Mennonite Life to present a GENEALOGY SESSION ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27 AT 7PM IN THE CHAPEL. During the session, Julia Wiker, archivist and librarian at Mennonite Life, will provide an introduction to genealogy research, including basic tips and ways to start your own genealogy search. Mennonite Life’s archive and historic library provides resources for people who have Mennonite, as well as non-Mennonite family connections to Lancaster County.

As the archivist and librarian at Mennonite Life, Julia finds great joy in helping people research their history. Julia says, “Helping someone take the first steps of their journey into their past and their family history brings me joy.”

Julia adds, “We have a collection of family Bibles dating from 1531 to the 20th century. It is always fun to pull out a family Bible—with handwritten birthdates, marriages and deaths—and show it to someone who has discovered a family tie. People are amazed when they can see the family Bible that their ancestors brought to this country.”

Anyone interested in exploring genealogy research is invited to attend this session.

Julia says, “If you have ever wondered about your past and your heritage, a genealogy search is a good way to reach back into the past and get a sense of what your ancestor’s lives were like, as well as the places you may have come from. In the process, you will write a new story that combines your roots in the past and the journey you took to make the discoveries in the present. Join us to learn the steps you need to take to begin your journey.”

LET ALL THAT YOU DO, BE DONE IN LOVE.

Talk about a powerful filter! A high standard! How might our decisions change if we accept the encouragement in scripture (I Cor 16:14 ESV) to do ALL in love? We know love is a powerful force of healing, renewal, encouragement and transformation. As we enter the valentine season this year, may we enjoy the lighthearted and romantic fun while also setting a high standard of applying the “am I doing this in love?” test to our everyday decisions and interactions. -
