his year’s show is bursting at the seams with new exhibitors, new products as well as all your returning favourites, to make it one of the best we’ve planned. One of the biggest changes for this year is that we have three rebranded sectors: Outdoor Entertaining, Landscaping & Garden Decoration and Retail Experiences & Services. The rebrand has been made to better suit the ways that the public interacts with their gardens and how the industry caters for that, making the show even more reflective of the modern garden retail environment.

Glee 2016 is bursting with great suppliers, with over 500 brands present at the show, including 100 international suppliers, a host of new product launches and exciting new innovations that will take the garden industry by storm in 2017. Following on from the success of The Green Heart in 2015, it returns this year, bigger and better than ever, in a new location as the first element to welcome you to Glee 2016. Positioned in the atrium area of the NEC, a massive 80+ growers have come together to put green back at the heart of our show. This year’s Green Heart, working with HTA Market Information Manager David Denny, will feature three unique consumer profile areas drawing on the HTA’s own market research, focusing on key consumer demographics: Gardening Elders, Garden Proud and Family Focus. Taking product inspiration from across the breadth of Glee’s show sectors, the three product areas will provide innovation and cross merchandising examples, helping you to find ways to reach out to key consumers at point of sale.

Also returning to the Green Heart this year is The Garden Works’ Kevin Waters, bringing back his informative and interactive merchandising tours, to help garden centres make the most of their displays. This keeps customers coming back throughout the year. Kevin has worked as an independent garden centre consultant working with retailers, suppliers, DIY stores and trade organizations across the UK, Ireland, Europe, USA and Japan since 1995 and founded The Garden Works in 2001. He specializes in shop-floor activities…team motivation and development, product knowledge, display and merchandising and promotional activities. He started working

The New Product Showcase in association with Garden Trade News provides the pool of contenders for the Glee Awards, with the best of each of the ten product categories receiving the accolade of a ‘Glee Award.’ A panel of judges will decide the product sector winners based on their innovation, design, promotion and saleability, also awarding winners for Best of British, The Green Award and Glee Innovation Award. The Top 3 in each product category will be announced at mid-day on Monday. The judges will have the chance to find out more about the products before the presentations to the winners are made
on the New Products Showcase Stand at 5:15pm on Monday evening, 12th September. Visitors to the show can also see their
favourite recognised, by casting their vote for the ‘Retailers Choice Award’, sponsored by the HTA, which will be awarded to one lucky entrant.
Keep an eye out for the Product Trails to help track down the products you’re looking for The Glee Product Trails are active for 2016, with exhibitors on the trails highlighting their specialisms clearly on their stands and here in their Show Guide listing. Glee Buyers’ Power List The Buyers Power list aims to recognise, celebrate and award the individuals and buying teams that made an outstanding difference and being highly influential within the market. We have uncovered the buying teams across the Garden Retail industry that are making a real difference and setting the benchmark for all retail buying, all nominated by the Garden industry themselves. GIMA Business Village & Lounge Also returning this year is the GIMA Business Village, located in Hall 20, Stand 20H50 – J51, which will be hosting a selection of up and coming businesses exhibiting with the support of GIMA. The Village is home to the GIMA Business Lounge, a great place for you to catch up with key suppliers, arrange meetings or to just take a break and absorb all that you’ve seen at the show! Lounge also offers “Buyers Connect” speed networking sessions for selected exhibitors meet with show visitors for 10 minute slots for a power-networking session. The Garden Industry Manufacturer’s Association (GIMA) is a dynamic and proactive membership organisation representing the majority share of suppliers and manufacturers operating within the UK gardening industry. Formed over 15 years ago, its goal is to

promote the commercial, trading and industrial interests of its members. The range of services and support provided is extensive, offering something for all members, regardless of their size or heritage. By running key industry networking events, offering targeted business services and tangible financial benefits, membership continues to grow, making GIMA a powerful voice in the gardening industry.
The Garden Industry Manufacturers’ Association (GIMA) continues to encourage grass-root innovation by helping small businesses and innovators with its exciting GIMA Innovators’ Seed Corn Fund. Introduced in 2014, the fund offers the winner a package of benefits worth up to £6,000 to help with development and marketing costs associated with entering the UK garden retail market. Included within this prize fund is a year’s full GIMA membership, plus a wide range of business support tools designed to help ease the journey into a new and unfamiliar market place. Since its inauguration, two highly deserving winners have been crowned, both of which have gone on to witness significant core growth. The 2014 winner, SteadyPost, has continued to grow brand awareness of its FenceFin™ product with market share increasing year-on-year. Green Digit, winners in 2015, has seen amazing growth for its SeedCell product. From additional varieties being added, to expansion of the team, new manufacturing facilities purchased, and export links confirmed across Europe and the US, the Seedcell product has certainly made its mark within the last 12 months. This year GIMA will have a new winner, and will be announcing who this will be, along with the 2016 runners-up, at a special ceremony during the opening day of Glee (Monday 12th September).
