Turn over for tour dates and show info. Read on for our refugee friends events. During the tour of A Thing Mislaid we will be hosting additional events for refugees and those currently seeking asylum. It’s a chance for people to make new friends, to meet surrounding communities and be creative. We’d love our audiences to get involved in one of the following events:

Meet Your Neighbour • •

Attenborough Arts Centre: Sunday 19th August Derby Theatre: Saturday 1st December

We’re partnering up with Derby Theatre, Derby Refugee Advice Centre, Attenborough Arts Centre and Journeys Festival to pilot two ‘Meet Your Neighbour’ events. A friendly space to meet new friends and share cultural stories with a foo creative twist.

ACT 2 •

Attenborough Arts Centre: Sunday 21st October

We are working closely with Journeys Festival to host our first pilot of ‘ACT 2’. A post show platform for refugee artists to share early ideas of new work in the making. We welcome audiences to stay after seeing ‘A Thing Mislaid’ at AAC and support this new exciting event.

Live Captioning and Translations during the show… During performances of A Thing Mislaid we will be piloting Talking Birds’ Difference Engine to deliver captions in English and Arabic; making the show more accessible for refugee communities as well as d/Deaf and hard of hearing audiences. We will also be providing a written synopsis of the show in Arabic, Farsi, Kurdish and English. For more information about any of the above visit: www.maisonfoo.co.uk/refugeefriends

Our outreach has been funded and made possible by: The Evan Cornish Foundation and Derby Theatre with further support from Derby Refugee Advice Centre, Derby City of Sanctuary, Attenborough Arts Centre, Journeys Festival International and Talking Birds Theatre Company.

Somewhere, on a nowhere road, just past adrift and before you reach astray, you’ll find two lost souls. Running. Running with a thing. A thing mislaid. A thing without a flock, looking for a place to belong. Maison Foo blend their trademark style of visual storytelling, clowning and humour, with new experiments in miniature puppetry and live camera. Travelling through cinematic worlds and surreal realities, A THING MISLAID explores themes of migration and journey, asking the question if home is no longer home, then where do we belong? A heartfelt tale full of footsteps, hope and an unlikely friendship between two lonely travellers and a mysterious bird.
