A look Ahead For 2015 This brochure provides information about the workshops and training available for Plymouth’s voluntary and community sector in 2015

Meet the Team

Pop ideas is made up of four experienced voluntary & community professionals with over 50 years of knowledge to share. Imogen | Has over 15 years of experience working in Plymouth's public and VCS sectors, managing projects and providing advice and guidance. Susan | Has over 20 years of voluntary sector experience. She has charity Management experience and has had success with fundraising, bid writing and winning tenders. Gareth | 20 years expertise in social enterprise strategy & policy development, social investment & social impact evaluation. Gareth is the chair of Plymouth Social Enterprise Network. Paul | Has over 5 year of experience of working in Plymouth's VCS sector, he also manages Plymouth Drake Foundation

Legal Structures Workshop This workshop will cover the basics of legal and governance structures for voluntary and community organizations. It will explore the pros and cons of the most commonly used structures such as: ● Community Interest Companies ● Charities We will review the implications for each on your community work and funding. It will also look at the benefits of incorporating a legal entity versus remaining an unincorporated organization. We’ll look at some examples, hear from experts and finally, we’ll discuss issues around responsibilities of directors, non-executive directors and trustees.

First Words First Words is great for people new to funding, it will help you get those ‘first words’ down on paper. ●Have the process of writing a funding application demystified ●Learn how to write down their project idea and define their beneficiaries ●Begin to define their project outcomes and how they will measure success ●Develop skills in being able to critique what makes an application successful ●Develop their confidence in writing a funding application The session is aimed at those smaller grants applications.

First Steps to Funding Tackling your first grant application can be very hard and slightly daunting.

These regular workshops will advice and refresh you on the fundamental issues of completing an application. Plymouth Fundraisers Network Meeting

The Plymouth Fundraisers Network is associated with the Institute of Fundraising and aims to bring fundraisers together to network and share knowledge. The network meets once a quarter at varying locations around the city, with the aim of delivering presentations relevant to fundraising, such as inviting the Lottery to present and presentations on hot topics such as social media. The Difference We Made Making a difference is at the heart of running a community group. It’s the reason we exist! Demonstrating the difference you make therefore is hugely important. Producing a simple impact report can: ● Assist with future funding or investment. ● Improve your organization’s credibility ● Prove the need and help define the market for your services ● Inspire your staff and volunteers ● Communicate the difference your business makes ● Provide powerful publicity and marketing materials ● Give you the information you need to improve ● Help you secure future business This workshop will help you decide where to start, what to measure and how to measure it, and give you the opportunity to look at some of the tools that are available to help you create your own social impact report.

POP Thursday POP Thursdays are on the third Thursday of the month and are ‘THE’ event for the sector. This is where you will find out what's going on around the City and in respect of developments that impact on us as community groups and voluntary sector organisations. There are times to share information, meet and make links with others, hear about the work of all networks, plan projects, learn about new and upcoming opportunities.
