If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be? I’m typically for a classical jazz style for my piano playing but I would collab with Young Thug. His instrumentals on his songs are some of the best in my opinion. Sometimes I sit down at the piano, play some verses and then make my own beats or melodies over the verses. That idea is just really cool to me. Like having some jazzy-piano part over the rap, that would be sick. What’s your greatest accomplishment? I had a solo career for a while, just performing downtown, at Hotel Sorrento—it was like my main gig. It was pretty formal but they had like a fireside cafe place that I would play at. That was super fun just making arrangements because it was all me. I chose what I was playing and the vibe I wanted. What are you currently working on? Right now I have a couple songs I’m working on. I still gotta get a soundcloud and get situated. I’m kinda just starting out. Just wait though. Search me up in a couple years.

If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be? Frank Ocean. He’s very independent with his music and has a lot of self-expression. I’d like to sing with him but also play guitar with him. What’s your greatest accomplishment? I’ve had a few chances to perform. I’ve played at the Moore and the Paramount and that’s been super fun. I was part of a program called More music @ the Moore which is put on by STG. They’re actually holding auditions for that program right now so people should audition! You can put on your own set and build connections with STG professionals. Everyone is really talented. It was a really cool opportunity and a lot of things have come up from that. I’ve gotten a lot of other gigs and connections with people in the industry. What are you currently working on? I’m currently working on my EP. I’m hoping it’ll come out before the end of the school year.

Who are your role models/who inspires you? In my family, my uncle is. He was an actor and did music. He was in This Christmas too. Also, YBN Almighty Jay he started when he was as young as me and is as dedicated as me. He’s done other things like youtube and and commercials, like Lil Yachty too, a lot of advertisements. If I do music, I want to do that too—acting and stuff, I want to branch out. What’s your greatest accomplishment? I didn’t think I could ever rap, like where I was, growing up in Sammamish I was the only minority in my school. So I didn’t really look at rapping, it didn’t really appeal to me but music did. I couldn’t really rap, but I was interested in the style of music. Now getting older and being someone who can make songs in like 15 minutes is really cool. Now if I wake up in the morning I’d be able to just put on a beat and at least create like a threeminute freestyle that flows. I pretty much practice everyday.
Drumline was voted best musical program at GHS, with 28% of the votes.

general porpoise:
king donuts:
This trendy store offers delicious filled doughnuts at high prices. General Porpoise takes pride in using fresh ingredients sourced from local farms. Selection is always limited to less than five types of doughnuts — presumably to emphasize their belief in quality over quantity — and each doughnut costs over five dollars. I arrived in the early afternoon to find only one lemon curd doughnut left in the case. (General Porpoise opens at 7 AM and closes at 3 PM, so for the best selection, go early.) The doughnut was large, pillowy, and encrusted with a layer of granulated sugar. The center was filled with a generous helping of creamy lemon paste, which was both rich and intensely tart. I found myself becoming full after the third bite. Though well-made, the lemon doughnut was not exceptional. Its flavor was enticing but rather simple, especially considering the high price of the doughnut. For the purist with money to burn, General Porpoise is an excellent option. Everyone else should steer clear.
King Donuts in Rainier Beach isn’t just a donut shop—it’s also a laundromat and a Thai food joint. They are most well known for their fresh baked donuts and kind staff. Although King Donuts was bought by a second party last year, they still kept most of their same recipes and original clients while maintaining an impressive 4.2 star Yelp rating. My donut of choice was the classic glazed donut, which is baked fresh every day and is evenly laid with a sweet sugar and ever-so-slightly crunchy coating that melts like cotton candy after a bite. There is also a small hint of salt that compliments the delicious treat perfectly. King has a large assortment of donuts and hot coffee perfect for a quick breakfast stop. Although they say they open at 7am, take that as a general window of time. When you get in, you’ll be greeted by welcoming employees and warm food. So when you find yourself looking for a warm spot to enjoy breakfast, wash your laundry, or sit and have dinner, head to South Seattle.
Seattle freeze: This Georgetown dessert shop lies on the edge of an industrial desert. To the north are various foodie mainstays including Fonda La Catrina and Via Tribunali. To the south and west, the streets are dominated by rumbling semi-trucks, freeway overpasses, and blank warehouse doors. Though Seattle Freeze is named for its softserve ice cream, it also offers excellent doughnuts in unique flavors. I was blown away by their root beer doughnut: deep brown in color, hefty and cakelike, and coated with a swirling coating of rich purple glaze. Each bite began with the taste of a moist chocolate cake — delicious on its own — before blossoming into a sharp and tangy root beer flavor. I could have eaten three more if I had the chance. For incredible doughnuts in unusual flavors, head down to Seattle Freeze any afternoon from Tuesday to Sunday. It’s worth the trip.

daily dozen: Nestled in a hallway on the south side of Pike Place Market, this popular cash-only doughnut stand offers bags of mini-doughnuts made fresh throughout the day. Dominating their tiny storefront is a mesmerizing contraption: a conveyor belt carrying endless circles of dough through a deep fryer and into a rotating display case. Each stock of freshly fried doughnuts is then topped with either sprinkles, cinnamon, or powdered sugar. Faced with this limited selection, I bought six doughnuts covered in powdered sugar. Each doughnut was so small and knobbly that I couldn’t fit my finger through the hole in the center. Each bite was both crisp and dense. The savory taste of the dough — warm and oily — almost entirely masked the sweetness of the sugar dusting. Tricked by the deceptively mild flavor, I found myself devouring the entire bag. The total price was a little over five dollars. If you are looking for a wide variety of wacky flavors, this is not the place for you. If you appreciate the simplicity of a fried doughnut done right, head down to Pike Place and buy a bag from Daily Dozen.

Winter break is upon us, and that means- hopefully- a lot of free time. Here are some quick and easy DIY projects to pass the time! These can be kept by the maker or given to others for a sentimental, homemade gift! They are also eco-friendly in that they reuse and repurpose things that you may just have laying around your house. Mason jar lanterns Materials: Mason jars; any size Spray paint; any color (acrylic enamel works best on glass) Stencils, paper, lace, string Tea candles or flameless electric candles 1. Take a clean mason jar of your choosing 2. Tape a stencil or paper to the outside, or even wrap string to create the desired pattern 3. Spray paint the outside and leave to dry 4. Remove material from outside, and place candles inside the jar
10
Hot cocoa jar Materials: 1 cup homemade or packaged hot cocoa mix. (the amount can also be adjusted based on size of jar) 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (whatever type you prefer) 1 cup mini marshmallows 1/4 cup crushed candy canes 1 jar Decorations (ribbons, stickers, etc) 1. Place ingredients in jar, starting with hot cocoa mix, then adding chocolate chips, candy canes and marshmallows. 2. Place lid on jar and decorate to your choosing; put stickers on the outside, tie o a ribbon onor paint. Keep for rainy day to treat yourself, or gift it to somebody else!

Snow globe jars Materials: Mason jars w/ lid (make sure it has the rubber seal); any size Clear Elmer’s glue Glitter; any color Mini tree, and any other small figurine and object to put inside Hot glue or super glue 1. Glue the two parts of the lid together, if separate, and glue the object chosen to the bottom of the lid. 2. Pour the clear glue into your jar, leaving about 1/3 ofspace left. The more glue you have the slower the glitter will settle. You can also just do water, but the glitter will settle very quickly to the bottom. 3. Add the glitter, however much you want to, and fill the rest with warm water. 4. Squeeze a line of glue onto the edge of the jar and screw on lid, allowing time to fully dry before shaking.

Jeffy’s Photo Hacks Here are two photo tricks to easily improve your shots.
1. Macro lens -You will need: A camera with interch angeabl e lenses -Something small to photograph Macro lenses allow you to take pictures of very small subjects, but often have a high price tag. You can make one cheaply with almost any lens. First, remove your lens from the body. Then, flip the lens so the front faces the sensor and the back faces the subject. Lastly, move in and out to find the focus and take the shot. Be careful not to get dust on the back of your lens or on your sensor when you do this.
2. Beanbag tripod You will need: -A ziplock bag -Dry beans, rice, gravel, etc… -Any camera or phone In order to take photos in the dark, with a long exposure, or of yourself, you probably need a tripod. This is an easy, portable tripod that is really cheap to create. Start by filling your bag with beans, and then… that’s it. Now you can use it to prop up and hold your camera or phone.
