Henry Bates Thanks Garfield for a great four years. You left me with more good experiences than bad which is a success in my mind. To Harrison, Dustin, and J I leave you the Legend of ThuySC and a fresh tennis ball. I think a couple orange shirts would sound appropriate for Elliot and maybe a computer that just plays snake for Zach. My yearbook crew, Brisket, Juliette, thanks for putting up with me for a whole year, I know it was tough and I want you guys to have all the snacks from the vending machine. Sorry Kelly you aren’t included but I do leave you

flag. Phil I leave you the might and power of Gus as long as you stay away from curbs. Don’t listen to your friends. They’re always wrong. Senior Wills Riley Calcagno To Laila Marshall, I leave a steel chain that was swiped-- oh wait, nevermind you have it. To Maia Nelson, I leave the frisbee that you so bravely collected from the Sound. (But you have to go back into the wetlands to get it). To Sean Lee I leave a concerningly warm seat. To Adrian Steele, I leave the promise that you will make a great first violin. Believe in yourselves boys! To Sophie Boyd-Fleigel, I leave the future of a jam in the Crevice of Delight (it isn’t what it sounds like y’all). To Lena Fox I leave the Chaconne. To the future officers of Earth Core I leave an overwrought Truax impression. To all the members of Vocal Jazz, I leave an elbow tap, my love, a teacher, and the idea that music literally means NOTHING if it doesn’t have swing. And to the theoretical lone freshman at orchestra night rehearsal who spends all of break reading the trophies, I leave you the promise that someday you might find your place. Believe me I know. Emma Chrisman To Laila: 1/3 of trifecta, rage day, my roots, but mostly just vj- it’s all yours, make us proud. Sophie B-F: the 5 string and hamboned humrapped freestyles. Maia: a locked window, the corner of 27th and union, and all my love. Lena F: a half empty hammock. Tony G: all the work you never did ;) Chloe, Lucy, and Hattie: you guys are really special I can’t leave you anything you don’t already have (except Lucy: a broken foot). Barnaby: you can be allowed in the car now :)) Sean Lee: be nice!!! The firsts: year round icebreakers pls. Engineering: my bad robot and eternal thanks for all you weirdos. Enjoy the little moments with your teammates and please keep the Disney karaoke tradition alive! Adrianna, Arthur, Louisa, Andrea, Zai, Tyler, and Tavia you are all amazing and never fail to brighten my day. Fight hard next year to beat our 2-12 reccord!! Rachel & Gracie take care of Flan while I’m away. You both are the little sisters I never had :/ Charlie, for you, a lifetime supply of non-poopy mussels raised to perfection in the months containing the letter “r.” To David, I leave you pathetic lunches in the commons, fun escapes to visit our guy Steve at the mailroom, and my perfected labeling technique. Best of luck next year, and remember I’m only one call away. Shabuttholes: I leave you a little bit of responsibility, the promise to share your music with the good people of New Orleans, and the burden of making sure I have a house to come home to. You all are some clowns and it’s been a joy watching you blossom into the men you are today. Flan, I DON’T leave you my room but I do leave you lots of love, the chore of cleaning out the shower drain, and a can of perfectly sorted garbage. And to Rilo, I’m still trying to figure out a way to leave you a moth infestation in your room but in the meantime I grant you full custody of the minivan (starting Aug. 26th), a 4 minute school commute record to beat, and a promise to interfere with the party playlists from 2,500 miles away. I’ll miss you both more than you can even imagine, so try to get along without me

Hannah Farrell Hello dawgs, Despite my contempt for certain aspects of Garfield, there are so many people to whom I owe thanks. To my ASB/ASG fam (especially Maddy Kennard, Sydney Bowker, Chan Huynh, Maya Kneip, Chardonnay Beaver, and Elise Mackley), I’m sad to leave behind Waffle Thursdays with sprinkles in the batter, but I won’t miss the unending frustration towards Garfield administration. To next year’s ASB/ASG, I bestow upon y’all the responsibility to make graduation gender-neutral. I want to thank my peers in the jazz band (Wyatt Morrison, Ben Lindenburg, Fedor Paretsky, Tony Goss, Liya LaPierre, Will Ojemann, and many others) for taking me to NYC two years in a row and for constantly pushing me to be better. Also I leave Liam Connor with your barely dent-free car (oops). Sydney Menjivar, I leave you with the impression that I am motherly. Ava Zech, I leave you at the same time you are leaving me. You’re crazy mature for removing yourself from this wicked high school drama and becoming an adult early.
Eli Breidford, thank you for unapologetically being yourself. I hope you still listen to that Amy Winehouse CD I burned for you. Gabe Kaplan-Nelson, I also commend you for being an individual in this sea of basic, insecure high schoolers. You are a joy to be around, and I will miss you dearly. Omar Sullivan, I leave you with peaceful morning car rides and an improper zipline flip. To my favorite teachers: Ms. Antoncich, Mr. Lugo, Mr. Heye, Mr. Lou, and Mr. NK, thank you for realizing that students are more than homework units and supporting me even when I’m sassy, lazy, or both. I also owe a special thanks to my CR dad, Mr. NK, for being
such a stellar human being. To the rest of my CORE fam, thank you for being the highlight of my experience at Garfield. I couldn’t have possibly been surrounded by a more accomplished bunch, and I’m going to miss you all profoundly. Dana Hall and Owen Riddick, I’m confident that next year you’ll keep Cultural Relations as amazing and life-changing as it is. Also shoutout to Owen for being the best 017 boy. To Tommy Renehan, I refuse to make this a goodbye. Thank you for choosing me and sticking with my crazy ass. I love you. To my wonderful siblings Connor and Chloe Farrell, I leave you with a loaf of white people bread and our soongraduated mother (sorry that she’ll be up in your business during your last years of high school). It was very special being at Garfield with both of you. Keep doing the things you love and making me proud. Mostly love, Hannah. Hera Ford BWA stay snatching the edges of white supremacist heteronormative patriarchy. Y’all are the most powerful group of girls I’ve ever met. Continue to raise your voices over the people who’ve continued to silence you. Your voice matters and you are powerful!! Also take care of yourself, I know saving the world is fun and all that but sometimes you need a break. I love you. Stay black. Rheana chilllllleeeeee I’m gonna miss bonding with you over black southern colloquialisms. Keep it alive! *crying emoji* But also you’re one of the most thoughtful, powerful, intelligent people I’ve ever met. You’re gonna slay whatever you do in the world. Love you. Also listen to Dead End by Meshell Ndgeocello. It
helped me get through my year, hope it helps you too! Amira stop eating entire bowls of sugar! I’m gonna be checking to make sure too. *eyes emoji* But girrrllll you’re so smart and I want you to know that you are loved. You give me flower girl teas everyday. Keep serving with your intelligence you literally rock my world. Alex Ferry I know we didn’t really talk that much but I really enjoyed being in Messenger with you. Your smile really brightened my day. Thank you for writing the story on Kehinde Wiley even though he was a meany. You’re gonna rock it next year! Anthony Goss thank you for being there for me in Gov! I honestly appreciate you being my

campaign manager and believing in me. I know it was just an assignment but you gave me so much confidence and I wouldn’t have been able to do that without you. Thank you for always being a friendly face and personality. You’re gonna do awesome things in life, honestly. Also go on a cultural relations trip next year! Max Moody I appreciate your presence and energy. You’re dope and I wish you the best next year. Oshun- Gyenyame/Balam Ajpu - AJAMAQ/ Azealia Banks- Desperado/ Luper - Earl Sweatshirt/Flying Lotus- Do the astral plane/ The Internet- sdgaf/Jojo Abot-To Li/Kilo Kish-ghost/ M.I.A. - aTENTion/ Julia Furukawa After an arduous four years at GHS, I wish all of you with time still left here the best of luck, and the positivity to make it out of here. In my absence, I leave the following: To Laila Marshall, the Manhattan Transfer twodisc Anthology, lychee-flavored drinks, Jackie’s school, and the resilience to overcome even the most drawn-out hardships. Even during the hard times, remember the family this program has brought you, and bring that to other people. I’m always here if you need me. To David Willner, I leave you close encounters at your neighbor’s house, so much gossip, 1-2 step, bike rides in the rain at Lopez and a bitter resentment for school dances. You better come visit me. To Miles Jenkins-Nunn, I leave you my glasses for as many impersonations as you like, all the cute boys in the world, unrelenting sass and the art of the scam. To Owen Riddick and Dana Hall, I leave you my constant faith and pride in you for carrying on CORE and for growing so much this year. You both blow me away with your compassion and dedication, and I don’t think anything will go wrong next year- but if it does, I’m only a phone call away. To Charlie Irwin, I leave the saltiest of my comments in the back of the lab, instagram fame, and an actual sense of humor. To Chloe Farrell, Lucy Rayment, Hattie Sanders and Maia Nelson, I leave multiple years of VJ left to enjoy and a family you can always rely on. Scat the months away ladies, you all have so much talent. To Mariel Povolny, I leave you a Sunsinker Yahkit, and as many smirks and eye rolls as I can muster. To Sydney Menjivar, I leave you fifth period, Ornacia, CR, and the feeling of love and acceptance you have always given to me. Call whenever. To Ms. Burton, I leave endless love and dedication and
the realization that persistence pays off. You’ve taught me so much over the years, in and out of the classroom and I can’t thank you enough for that. To Mr. NK, I leave you CORE and the power to change people’s lives. I leave you distracted lunch meetings, camp coffee, and all of my admiration for you and your endeavors. I would be a shadow of who I am if I hadn’t met you. Finally, to GHS Administration and Dr. Larry Nyland, I leave you every late night I’ve had over the past four years, every hour spent here after 2:20, and every heartfelt speech for each press conference, news article, and school board meeting. Despite the odds, my time at Garfield has turned me into someone who does believe that hard work pays off, who wants to make a positive change in kids lives, and who wants to work toward a better future. I hope it has done the same for you.
I don’t know what I’m gonna do without you! Somehow we became study buddies in APES throughout the year and I’m so glad we did. You’re incredibly smart, kind, and such a hard worker. You’re gonna kill it next year! Anh Trang hey guuurrrl… There are few people out there who make me laugh as much as you do! Everyday you walk into second period with a smile on your face and it just brightens my day. Keep on smiling girl! Camille Fain, Linda Vong, Cora Andersen Bicknell, and Valeria Bermudez aka 2013-15 LAX Squad there’s no way I could’ve survived two seasons without you guys! We all came in never holding a lacrosse stick in our lives, but by having each other’s backs we managed to kill it on the field. Who cares if we didn’t win that much, haha? I missed playing with all of you this year, but I know you all were amazing and will go out with a bang next year! Arissa Lee, Angie Tran, Van Pham, Christine Nguyen, Andrew Ni, Tiffany Tse Anne-Marie Le, and Catherine Valdry aka Spring 2016 JV Tennis Squad I came into JV Tennis as the only senior and all of you welcomed me with open arms! As I strut down these halls just a few more times there are several people I want to s/o for making these four years all the more bearable. Richard’s Rwanda Ladies: Thank you for all your hard work. What we are doing is making an impact and I thank you all for the care and heart you have put in. You are all such inspiring young women with kind and loving hearts. I know you’ll take the club to new heights. Cheer Squad: LADIESSSSSS, thank you for everything. Cheering was truly the best experience I have had at Garfield. Keep screaming for our favorite boys. They couldn’t do it without us. Love you all so so much. Keep your head up. So much Love. Juliette: I leave you Costco boxes of ramen, lost America’s Got Talent Audition Tapes, The Save the Manatees Club, A reluctant New Years at volunteer with high school kids, the scar on your thigh, photoshoots at the STC, my fear of water, Cody Simpson, spring break trips that never happened, fairies in christmas trees, Pagliacci pizza crusts w/ dressing, getting shot in the back by Edward at the farm, sleepovers with Phillip, our dads matching Porsche’s, trips to Libby Lu’s, Lindsay Lohan in the loft, and never letting me drive the ATV. Love you JClem. Olivia Sander: Bruhhhhh, I leave you vents about boys, bonding after Henry’s, and supporting the bulldogs. Don’t let the thotties get you down. You are a strong gal who deserves the world, don’t settle for less. Don’t forget your price is ^. You are one of the sweetest, most talented, and beautiful girls, both inside and out. M
Chloe Madara While I may be yearning to leave this now-too-famil-
iar campus, there are some places and people I am going to miss dearly, and it is to those I dedicate these 200some words. First and foremost, to my teachers, I give you every ounce of respect, learning, and understanding you gave to me over these four years. To Ellie and Elizabeth I leave the soldering stations, the dichroic glass, and the shame table. To Kiaya I leave the coveted title of SENIOR. To Will and Jonny I leave the everaukscellent Trivia Club. To Alice I leave Link Leading, and all the luck and team-building exercises you’ll need to get through it. To Jessie and Dylan I leave my love of Dawgbotics, for Dawgbotics itself is not mine to give. To Dylan I also give the tool room, which is also not mine to give, and to Jessie I also give the best fashion sense, even if you already have it. To Ruby I leave the stage, Uta, Buddha, Pablo Neruda too. To Ni I leave the Owl (in spirit only) and the tech shop, and to Velika I leave bad puns and the lamppost. To Julia I leave the position of tech mom, may you never run out of bandaids and Emergen-C. To all of you, I give my love and care, and all the luck you’ll need and more. May you manage a little better than I did, and remember: It’ll all be over soon. Enjoy it while it lasts. Spencer Mann Lil’ K gets everything. Ken Masumoto Quinn Tonelli - Thank you for enduring my awful taste in music on our runs. I entrust you as sole freshman heir of the boys’ distance track team. I leave you countless PR’s in both XC and track. Enjoy each practice, workout, and meet, because it’ll all be over faster than you can say “Hoodie Allen.” Gabriel True – As sur-
prised as I was to see you sign up for track this year, I was glad that you had made the correct decision in choosing a spring sport, and I am confident that you’ll make the correct decision the next two years as well. Stay sharp for XC, and remember to run every race so hard that you could crap your pants in the third lap. Patrick Walsh - Patsky, no more of this “babysitting” gig on Tuesdays, which also happens to coincidentally be the workout day for XC. Honestly, aren’t those kids old enough to watch themselves by now? Regardless, you’re a junior next year, so please set a good example for those young’uns. Keep your carefree attitude, but don’t be afraid to, y’know, go
for it. Lily Hayes – Please look after Patsky for me. Don’t let him skip practices, especially workout days. You have big shoes to fill on the track and XC team, but you’re more than capable. And, now that I’m leaving, I can truthfully leave you with the title of Best Jammy Pack owner. Wesley Olive – Wes, you’re one of the most talented runners I’ve ever met, but talent won’t do all the work for you. I leave you with a quote from a great man (me): “Don’t let a little bronchitis keep you from doing what you know you’re meant to do.” Andrew Ni – I simply leave you with everything you’ve learned from the BC Calculus tests. May you impart this knowledge to anyone you wish. William Laird – Other than my skill in Supercell games, there isn’t much I can leave you that you don’t already have. Weeyum, all I can tell you is to keep doing what you’re doing, and I’ll be watching your running career through all of its stages, however far it may go. Henry Milodragovich– Despite your disapproval of my affinity for my cell phone, we were somehow able to get past that and create a bond second only to one created during the Trials of Miles, Miles of Trials. You have the tenacity of Quenton Cassidy, the talent of Jack Nubbins, and the sense of humor of me. I leave you with memories of the Golden Pillars, Once a Runner quotes, the bad races, the good ones, the big kicks, and the heartbreaking finishes. Don’t forget that lifetime goal you told me about. You know The Secret, now you just have to do it. Anna Matusewicz My time at Garfield is coming to a close and I have a lot to give away so bear with me. First and foremost, Milli I leave you conversations about boys and, as promised, an ostrich. To Amy B, I leave mermaid bits and
my work ethic--good and bad. To Asha, I leave a place to crash, bomb makeup, and movies we didn’t actually watch. I leave Carlin and Aidan E show-tunes and theater laughs. To Connor and Khail I leave my faith that you will kill it as tech directors next year. To Corinne I leave morning car rides when no one wants to be awake. To the Girls Wrestling Team, present and future, I wish you all the best of luck, and leave you hang outs in the locker room before weigh-ins, suffering together during a hard workout, and the strength and pride that comes with the sport. To Sakke I leave the league wrestling title and my orchestral perseverance, to Megan, I leave my light-hearted satire about A Orchestra (including plenty of eye rolls), and to Maddy I leave my passion for music and love of the bassoon. To my lovely sister Dana, I leave inside jokes (bang--shield), family trips to Wenatchee, avoiding household responsibilities, our never-ending list of movie references, our sisterly telepathy, a friend you can always talk to, and the knowledge that I will never be more than a phone call away. Most importantly, however, I leave you my car. Take care of her. Finally, Kai, I leave you my favorite memories of senior year. I leave you Game of Thrones and Psych marathons while cuddling on the couch, almost all the clothes you lent me, a giant chocolate cake, the moments I never wanted to leave and all the ones spent laughing, the summer we will have together, everything I can’t write in this will, and my love. Anya Meleshuk Bella, I leave you the most spirited family there is. Handle it well. Elena and Catrin, the knowledge that height cannot deter from skying the tallest and the best. Josie, bids for days. Qiyi and Sophia, the toughest team there is. Morgan, the ugliest faces with the most beautiful eyes. Bridget, a shattered glass unicorn and spilled popcorn. Stay a treasure(r). Connor, lettuce and laughable eating habits. Julia, hugs forever. Lila, a monkey and a book, chaos that will be yours to control, and a responsibility that will be worth the while. I love you and good luck!
Aidin Montefisher A long long time ago, in a school not so far far away... Here lies my last wishes and thoughts to those unfortunate people stuck here for another year or more: Damian Williard- You single handedly are the reason I’m graduating. You are the Pi to my R squared, thank you. Quinn- thanks for the alternating mood swings. Have fun being an editor next year and please don’t win Mess Guess- or be in it in general. It’s been a lot of yellow. Flora- you are the most intimidating person in Messenger. Never let our handshake die, and I leave you the Mess Guess winning momentum. Bring home the title. *does the handshake* Julia- The Lin legacy is strong in you. Join Mess Guess and give Flora a run for her money. Emma- Kooooooooooooooop. I leave you Kepler and the ESPN font. When in doubt, just throw in a Mariners preview article. Never fails.

Shoutout to everyone who followed@garfield_sports, it was fun dealing with it all. Dawgaroosks on 3, go Dawgs. Wyatt Morrison I really hate this school, but the people in it are dope. To my jazz bois Gabe Curhan and Tony Goss, improve your Mario kart game. , make sure that Gabe always loses and sleeps on the floor. To my soccer bois Bryce and Josh and Peyton and Stevie and Pancho, carry that team to a title. You can always call on me to plug with that herbal tea whenever. To my favorite twins the Tings, you guys are the best people I know.
The Garfield Messenger 6/10/16
Kate Mulligan Thanks to all the 016 lovers for making this bumpy ride infinitely more fun. To all the seXC ladies, I leave you Beyonce dance parties and semi-successful attempts at hitting the quan. To Alex, many a laugh, nights of swimming under the stars, lots of love, and a demand that you come visit next year. To David, a breathtaking performance and Monday nights. To Laila, the beautiful sound of a lone siren carried on the night breeze. I also leave you with my complete confidence that you will run a fantastic Survival—you are my pride and joy, and I’m only a phone call away. Rachel, I gift you Herbie (and two square inches of my butt cheek). To Flan, lots of hugs and the promise to eat all of your cookies. To all my Unified teammates, much too early Saturday mornings, many games of pictionary and Disney sing alongs. To Nick I leave a fully loaded water gun. To Mariel and Ruby, Sun Lakes Resort. To the employees of Safeway, my sincerest apologies. And finally to Jack I leave the greatest gift of all: the white whale, in all her glory. May she take you on many a wild adventure. I love you and I’ll see ya.
O
Kaiji Obras Finn, Azai, and Cameron- I wish I was as cool as you guys when I was a freshman. I leave you with what’s left of the drumline. The future of drumline is now in your hands. Stay geeked, but also stay stu-
dious. Andrew Chan- I leave you snare drum #1. Take good care of that drum, I know you’ll kill it next year. Isaac Kim- I leave you the lunch table, my soundcloud playlist, my parking spot on Spruce, and the March madness team. You better get that ship next year. Thank you for a life changing 4 years, Garfield. Izzi Olive To Wesley, I leave my car, my legacy, the cutest dog in the world, and many more years of trying to convince Mom to let you grow less-than-legal substances. I know you can do it. I love you no matter what and I know that you’re capable of accomplishing anything you set your mind to. To the XC gals, I leave you with many more years of outshining the boys’ team, the three best coaches in the game, and the flyest uniforms in Metro. Isabel Schmidt, you’re a star and you inspire me to no end. Gabe True, I’m sorry I didn’t ask you to prom. Rachel and Flann: you’re both hilarious; keep being yourselves and making the world smile. Messenger Editors: I leave you many late nights and the responsibility of prematurely aging Mr. Martin. I leave everything else to David Willner.
P
Fedor Paretsky Man, I cannot believe I’m already leaving Garfield. Ben: I leave you the famous Garfield Jazz Alto 1 pencil, please lead the saxes to success better than I did. Flex your leadership, there’ll be a lot of new people next year. And thanks for stepping up. Andrew: Keep playing dope s$@#. Danny: Now’s the time I apologize for everything I said. Gabe: Don’t f#@% up as much, but thanks for being there for me. Goss: Here’s my separate will for you, like I promised. Thanks for stepping up this

Eddie D.: Good luck at Garfield lol. Try to improve your mile time. Atticus Pennylegion-Hurley To Joe Wolf- I leave you a second home to always crash at whenever you feel the need, and the pizza oven in the back yard for any time you want to munch. You’re like a brother to me, make sure to come and visit next year. You’re a homie, Senior year will be infinitely better than Junior year, I know you’re gonna kill it. Kevin and Kyle Ting- Thanks for the countless amount of rides to school (my favorites were with Quinn and Keenan both back in the day), and around the greater area of Seattle when I definitely needed them. I would not have made it through highschool without you guys, you’re both amazing friends. Charlie Irwin- I leave the legacy of Pluto Nash iN 3D, as well as many other memorable Ramblewood traditions. May your bag of fun never leave Camp Delaney. Guat Squad Miles, Sam Woletz, Will O, Aidan M, Nick L- I leave the legacy of a very life changing and hilarious trip to Antigua, I’m glad I got to know you all so well. Oh and that reminds me, do you guys have any Cetaphil? Steak (Asad) Bone (Roan), and Owen- You three have a lot of charisma and I am confident you’ll all go far in life, keep Garfield alive. Katherine P- I leave you the endless talks about our favorite words (clavicle, right?), as well as the random questions and conversations throughout Geo hike last year. Thank you for letting me mildly tease you on every POST trip, you’re going to do a great job with D-school next year. Team 4 D-school- I must first apologize for my poor sense of direction getting us all lost on the first day to rotations, I hope that we can move past it one day. You all were amazing campers, our skit proved how we truly were the best team on the entire trip. Owen, Lucy R, and Maggie- I leave the legacy of the fantastic 4, hopefully we all cross paths one of these nights. Perhaps even with Katherine. 6th period squad Johnny West, Spencer Mann, Michael Lynch, Ryan Greely, Henry Hayes- These early releases have been the only thing getting me through second semester, and it’s safe to say some of my fondest senior year memories will be the shenanigans we got into on long Thursday afternoons. There’s always time for a trip to Wild Waves... Well, Henry Hayes fill the whip up with homies and throw on track 2 because in the wise words of YG, we dippin n sippin.
S
Carolyne Sandoval To Amy, I leave a pet slug and a new car. To Corinne, a properly spelled name and a black morph suit. To my beautiful son Lila, a recording contract and plenty of juice. To Jamie, the secret to falling in love with someone and the details of your mission. To Nadia, a champagne tower and hundreds of imposters. To Bridget, I leave the rest of the burritos; to Carlin, a corset in every color; to Evan, a free haircut (please take it); and to Connor, all the Michael-shirts you could ask for. Hailey gets my illicit popcorn, Lauren gets unbroken shoes, and Chloe gets enough thespian points to beat the school record. Finally, I leave a red scrunchie, an immaculate selfie, and whatever else she’s into now that she’s cool to Clare for when she returns. Audrey Stocker Linda- Fight hard to save gymnastics! We have a coach and there should be no other excuse for the man in charge to make against having a team. I leave the fight to you--win it! Maggie & Amelia- The Lady Bullfrogs are in your hands. Lead the team to victory and be nice on the dryland :) Mette- Don’t let yoga club die!! Recruit your SG friends to join in and continue the tradition of Thursday yoga by the lake. Claire, Olivia, Joe, Miles, Maggie, Noelle and George- Design a killer yearbook and enjoy all the BBQ chips Lovre buys for you. See ya later GHS. Caleb Stocker High school shouldn’t be the highlight of your life. It certainly wasn’t for me, but overall Garfield hasn’t been that bad. Sure, there are stupid rules and it feels like you’re getting babysat until you’re eighteen years old, but everyone has to go through it. I’ve found that making meaningful connections with people and enjoying the familiarity of high school while it’s still there is better than constantly wishing I could escape. That said, I’m undoubtedly psyched for next year and well as enthustiac to see the path that everyone in ‘016 takes. To The Vacuum, keep workin hard out there, and always continue the lifts for the chicks. To J’raan, mehh. To George, I’m sorry about the HBP in mustang. To Gregory, I leave the remains of Alex the pig, let him live again in your soul. To Trav God, go get’em,
Senior Wills Cutch. I know you’ll lead that outfield, maybe even dive once?? Nah nevermind. To Keplar Swanson (Clap-Clap-clapclapclap), such a natural talent and one of the most mature people I know. You’ll be a great leader on the team for the years ahead. To Klaus, focus on you and ignore others next year and I know you’ll be raking, I’m excited to see it. Come visit in Wisco and get excited for Senior Beer. To Zubin, I have no idea how you’ll play next year since we always follow each other’s hitting streaks, but regardless the team’s always better when you’re playing. I might even leave you my Marucci. Make sure to stay in touch (Jragz house pt. 2?), in the end it won’t be nothin but a thing. To Luka and Thomas, you fools are hilarious, don’t let the haters kill the bromance. To Grace, <3. To Elena, I am sincerely sorry for jellyfishing you that one time. You can snap me about GOT if you feel so inclined next year. The A&E section is in good hands next year, I’m just happy I don’t have to keep endlessly edit your articles ;). To Quinn, hello! Your senior year won’t be nearly as bad as you think, as one of the cheeriest and sprightly people I know I can’t imagine you having a bad time. You’re an amazing writer, dancer, listener, and person- Thank goodness I sat next to you and Alex last year (Shout out Ms. Sloan -Bien Venidos!!). To Julia, I didn’t know I could be as comfortable around a person as I am around you, and I loved the time we spent together this year. I leave you endless red peppers, gross ass ketchup, milkshakes, and hopefully the ability to one day walk on the right. You’re smart and dedicated to your passions and that’s always made me admire you. Have a great senior year. Tell Fluff deep down I know she loves me. Bronwen Street To Ben Ferry: A wrestling match on the dock and a bag full of coins to be spent on ice cream. Spencer HW: You shine bright in many ways my friend. I leave you with an endless supply of chia seeds and a big hug. The fab trio (Ruby, Paulette and Patty): You 3 are the most genuine, kind and witty sophomores I know - wise beyond your years. Please help your grade get on your level. Take care of my sister for me. Jason: a kiss on the cheek and Daft Punk on repeat. Menna: I love you more than you know. You’ve conquered the world, but now

it’s time to conquer these hallowed halls. Keep the Street name alive; I’m only a phone call away. Alex: A 9 hour car ride from heaven/hell, Harry Potter and the only real conversation I’ve had at school. Love you dude. Owen: I’ve never had an interaction with you where I haven’t laughed either. You are one of the best people, period. Hope this isn’t goodbye; I’m always ready to hear another poop story and have a face match. Klaus: So happy I can say that I really know you; it’s been an honor. I leave you constant eye contact and loads of laughter. Sophie: You are a freaking rock star. I’m really gonna miss our car rides home and the way you approach the world. Good luck with the gear room, I know you’ll keep everyone in line. Charlie: I adore you bich_ imightbe. I am laughing more than not when in your presence. Keep being Chirm and you’ll be loved no matter where you are or who you’re with. Ben and Will O: You two are part of the reason I came to Gov at all. I leave you a clutch time always. Laila: An honorary bed in Papi’o and a tub of lemonade powder. You’re energy is irresistible, thank you for always bringing me up when I’m down. Take care of CMF, love ya forever. Joe: From pre-k to Garfield, chicken leg. Here’s to many more late night chief sessions and riding in comfortable silence. Miles: a booty bump session where I actually win and a big RAWR XD. Katherine: I won’t leave you anything but a piece of my heart, cause this isn’t goodbye. I love you more than I can say. Just know that you can do it, whatever it is. My ear (and dorm room) is always open. Remember: lifelong pals. I won’t forget. Team 1 (Yogurt, Rice Pilaf, bambamcam, Ginny Tonic, Dizzy Izzy, AA, PK, This JustIn): I love all of you infinitely. For everyone: some fire haiku’s, food nicknames and a mug o’ chili powder, butter and coffee grounds. Help PK get something on soundcloud. Messenger: last-minute edits and weekly bubble tea runs. 016: We’re leaving together so I won’t leave anything. People beefed with us for not being “turnt enough” but I couldn’t imagine a better or realer group of people to spend four years with. Can’t wait to see the grand things all of you do. Hawaii Fam: pool-hopping, the longest playlist, and the best two weeks of my life. Lastly, to POST: yakin’ in the sun, full fleece ensembles and more happiness than I thought possible. It’s hard to

put how much these trips meant to me in words, but thank you for turning me into someone that’s ready for the world. I am so lucky to have found a family for life in all of you POSTees, and will remember all our wild adventures forever. Here’s to some Wide Open Spaces. Although Garfield was soul sucking at times, my high school experience wouldn’t be complete without weekly parties in the park, afternoons at the docks, and a daily 6pm phone call from the attendance office. Stay on that purp and white Garfield, I wouldn’t have wanted to go anywhere else. Much love and a little hate, Bronwen, Bron, bstreet, Bronweiner, Bratwurst, strongwen, etc.

Sten Tolgu First of all, I leave the leadership of the soccer team to Rainier Schlekewey and Owen Riddick. It’s up to you guys to keep the team bangin’ out and working hard. Get us that State Title and cherish your last season! To Thomas Tolgu: Remember to have fun and don’t take things too seriously, keep on doing what you’re doing and you’ll do great things little dawg! To Luka Bedalov: Keep hitting that weight room son. You’ll never get as big as me but I’d like to see you try anyways! To Jack, Conan, Assad, and Roan: You guys are the savages of 019, keep it sus but keep your ducks in a row. To Garfield: Thank you, it’s been wild! Sivan Tratt To the dawg pound, My, high school sure has been a roller coaster. Though many people made this a rather heinous 4 years, there are some people I must pass on good wishes to as I leave the hallowed halls of the viper pit. Katherine P- I leave you a green paint job, a sense of direction, all the confidence and conviction in the world, and a smooch (from whom? we will find out soon)… stay gorgeous and flossy!
The world is yours and I know you are going to do amazing things <3. Sage- I leave you dank memes, a lifetime supply of smokehouse almonds, gossip and angsty tumblr screenshots, and hopefully lots more faceguards and goals for next year’s season. You a real one, saggy! I’m gonna miss you. Gabe + Tony- I leave you a W for next year’s March madness game. Bring it home for our ancestors. Miles, Milo, Sean + Ken- thanks for inviting me on the fishing trip (not). You guys are some clowns. Have a “responsible” senior year. Alex F.- I leave you a recycled juice carton left at Pagoda, all the carbon in the atmosphere, and chest hair. Thanks for the laughs, GW. Caroline- I leave you soap (for your feet), simple peasant food (easy to digest), a stick and hoop to play with, and a very der-ner-ner ceramic mask. Patty W- I leave you all my unfinished business for Outreach next year. Creating change on Post is a difficult task, but I know you can do it! Good luck. Nicole, Lily, Sylvia, Maeve, Flora, Flan and the other lax ladies- I leave you more drives to the cuts of Washington state, a camo shirt, more wins for next year, and a fierce and aggressive attitude. Love you guys, go kill it. Liam/Meatsaq8 meatballs ;) and another 3D printed bust. David W.- I leave you a refund on the after prom party bus, a haiku, another session as parents together, and a stolen sleeping bag. I can’t leave you malt. No malt for you. Team 7- I leave you each a friendship bracelet, all the drama of the island, a cliff jump, scams!!!!!, and of course- MALT. Ms. Robison, Mr. Sample, Spang, Ms. Finley, Ms. Cohan, Mr. Lugo, Mr. Lou, and Mr. Gish- I leave you each a hug (that doesn’t violate any district policy) and a huge thank you. Each of you challenged me in a different way and I found satisfaction and joy from taking your classes. I’m positive that I wouldn’t be the same and nearly as prepared for college as I am now without all of you. Thanks for being amazing teachers. Ford- My invitation to the fjord still stands. Your move. Don’t forget your trout ;) Micah- I leave you with your own room, a car ride home whenever you need it, an aux cord and a pre-peeled pomelo. Carry on the Tratt name with pride. Love you. Deuces, GHS. Anika Thomas-Toth My time at Garfield has been adventurous and while I’m ecstatic to leave, I have a few goodbyes to say first. Goodbye POST, thank you for some of the best memories of high school. Here’s to deliriously late nights, fallen trail mix, and hilarious skits (yay TEAM 2!). Goodbye to my EC family, will not miss the board meetings but will miss seeing all your beautiful faces :). Ruby, I leave you horrible on-hold music and endless stacks of forms- goodluck, you’re gonna kill it! Katherine, I wouldn’t have wanted to be under budget with anyone else :’) thank you for all the non-calculus fun and talk in 3rd period. Catrin, I will forever be impressed with your hops, Bella, your enthusiasm, and Jaya your worth ethic and smile- good luck to all you friz girls at those 3 hour practices ;). Lastly, much love to all the SGs, thanks for always boosting me up. Adios contaminos!!

Gwen Umbach To my goddaughter Lila, I leave the strength and expertise of a former secretary- you’ll need it. To Elliot: the English horn. You’re the only one I can trust. Good luck. To Amelia and Maggie: the Lady Bullfrogs, take care of them! You’re going to be fantastic! And to the Lady Bullfrogs: I leave you fun dryland exercises and lots of best times. Love you all! In the class of ‘18, to Bridget Fox I leave: great hugs, no math for 2 months, and peach tea. To Carlin, I leave lip synching to live theatre. To Connor: driving privileges. To Emili, I leave the first few minutes of Rachmaninov 2, and King FM. It’s yours. All of it. For Nate: A really nice red sweater. To Jessica, a single lock of my hair. Milli McFall: I said hi to Tom. To Asha H, I would leave killer random dance moves, but I never actually had them. You did. Upon Gwen Vance I bestow the great legacy of our majestic and revered name. I know you are worthy of such an honor and responsibility. To Katie, Hannah, Alex, Aidan, Morgan, and all the awesome drama sophomores: You are the future. Don’t screw it up. And finally, most importantly, for Lizzie: One cassette tape AUX cord and two-part harmonies.

Ella Wood Camille and Linda I leave you with our neighborhood, nonsensical excitement, and loving hugs. Matthew I leave you with the spirit of the game, car rides, and the initial awkwardness of a conversation with a somewhat stranger on a bus. Connor H. I leave you with excited hellos and cool fashion. Bridget I leave you with all my hugs and taunts, Beacon Hill, and terrible 701 coffee. Morgan GT I leave you with sassy snapchats, confidant directing, and deep conversations on the bus or in my car. Gregory I leave you with a gallon of water and impromptu convos. Phoebe and Kevin I leave you with a piccolo, the devil itself. Jonathan I leave you with my coat, but you must always say where it came from! Alek I leave you with never-ending taunts and jazzy attitude. Will I leave you with winking, Ultimate, and TinTin. Amelia I leave you with choir, physics headaches, and crying laughter. Neva I leave you with Liam, snuggly hugs, and too many face-offs. Hank I leave you with rock station, grunts, and annoying favors. Brock I leave you with Lopez walks, my appreciation, and sanity. Good luck next year, Mr. President. POST I leave you with lots of love and the courage to be role models for future generations. Liam and Simone I leave you with my baby, Island School, and the legacy that comes with it (including the trip binder, which I promise I’m almost done with). It comes with anger, frustration, pride, and (hopefully) appreciative campers. I couldn’t be happier to give it to the two people I love so much! You will both change lives, so don’t eff it up. Tien I leave you with hobo Ella and bomb ultimate skills. Unleash your BEAST. Elena I leave you with a frisbee team that loves your funky sunglasses and hat to go along with that sassy tude. Tony I leave you with you incredible younger sister, uncomfortable hugs, and the Friz Mom title. Not sorry :) Olivia I leave you with crazy piggy back rides, cute hugs, and the handler squad. Jaya I leave you with crazy tans and some sanity to “handle” Bella and Olivia. You’ll do great! Bella I leave you with your incredible talent, your ranking as most insane captain, the late night crazies, the carwash, an unforgettable Prom, hopefully Homer, and my friz children. Keep them happy and bomb af. I offi-
cially bequeath to you the Friz Dad title. And remember, west coast = playing college frisbee with me! Friz Girls I leave you with my love, the most supportive family you’ll know, the Frisbee handshake, and non-stop yelling. Hellabomb out! Saffron I leave you with choir giggles, pho, gross snapchats, recordings of my singing (like a dying cat), and endless love. You will come back to Garfield without me, but I’ll always be around to talk about everything and hang with the most wonderful girl in the world. And thanks for the freeing advice, I use it everyday. ;)
the balls. Elena- The streak was real. Maybe the best 20 days of my life. I hope you continue to jellyfish the younger writers of messenger. Don’t let them get too comfortable. Mette- I think you just have to accept it… Owen doesn’t want to be your friend. Freya- No farewell could do a justice to our friendship. The countless hours spent on morning drives will always hold a special place in my heart. Malcolm Gladwell says it takes 10,000 hours to master a sport, I guess that makes us masters of friendship. Good luck in your future carpools, and if that white Prius is still there every morning next year honk at it. That’s not a parking spot.
Eli Wilson To the baseball boysGregs- I leave you a league of hitters to navigate on your own. My only advice… If you’re going to throw a changeup do it at Garfield, because there’s no fence there. Jrann- I guess it’s better to be a 5 O’clock hitter then not a hitter at all. Keep doing your thing hitting dingers in BP. Travis- Oh my goodness. Bonzo- Just so it’s clear, I voted for you on every team award possible. Too bad the players don’t make the lineup or else you would be hitting cleanup. KeplerKeep the boys in line… because if you don’t, the gear will never make it out to the field by 2:45… Never. Jae- Keep going off, the Vac never sleeps. Zubin- Alright man. To my XC Boyz- Gabe- Keep doing it for the endorphins man. Keep being goofy, cross country boyz don’t do serious. Milo- Don’t let Gabe get too goofy. Make sure everyone gets to the starting line on time, and make sure Will doesn’t pull his hair out when the boys get out of control. Koala- Keep eating your Eukaliptus. Damian Willaird- Every tradition is left in your hands, don’t let them die. Keep running bridges, and drinking from the watering hole. Mix in a Docks run here and there and don’t forget to tell the Seattle U track girls I said hi. I will forever miss the ice baths, post run feasts, and name game Thursday’s. Keep sleeping in class, because athletes don’t do school. I’ve never met someone that’s more competitive than you- never lose that. It’s your best quality… besides your smoking hot body. And last of all, never forget where we came from… Alex- Thank you for laughing at my Truax impression… even though no one else thinks it’s funny. Good luck next year with your master plan. Excited to see how that works out for ya. You look great today. Josh- What do they call Garfield High School? Sulli- I guess I do have
