273 CRETORS EXTENDED MODEL D HORSE-DRAWN CIRCUS POPCORN WAGON. American, 1924. Fully restored by Robert Pearson of Olathe, Kansas. This wagon was the last model ENL D produced by C. Cretors & Company, Chicago, Illinois. Painted red with black striping and contrasting yellow wheels, model includes the special option “Hot Lunch Outfit” which is a short-order cooking area with a two burner gas setup. All trim is finished in polished nickel, restored using only authentic Cretors hardware. Any steel that needed replaced was duplicated to factory specifications. The three signs under the main serving window are bevel-edged mirrors with reverse etched decoration and painted letters made in the manner of the Cretors' factory. Serial # 24100. 9’3”h. 6'3”w. 15’l. (All measurements approximate). Weighs approximately 2500 lbs. Included with the wagon are several photos, research articles, letters, posters, and a binder and DVD detailing each step of the restoration with photos and descriptions.

Ullage (Level of Wine) & Overall Condition Ullage refers to the air space in a wine bottle, and consequently, the fill level. Ullage is important as air space can be harmful to a wine and cause oxidation over time. When noting the condition and preservation of a wine, we are assessing the ullage and may refer to it as the fill level, the amount of wine in a bottle, gauged by its level or height within the bottle.

Common visual indicators are used to reference the fill level - primarily the neck and slope (shoulder). Shoulder is the area where the bottle slopes outward, just below the narrow, straight neck. Fill level is a gauge of a wine’s condition and can be an indicator of proper storage (or provenance) over time.

Bordeaux (also Cabernet) bottles, due to the shape, permit a clear, shoulder level rating system.

N - Into Neck BN - Bottom Neck VTS - Very Top Shoulder TS - Top Shoulder HS - High Shoulder MS - Mid Shoulder LS - Low Shoulder S - Shoulder Neck: Normal level. In wines 10 years and older, suggests excellent provenance.

Bottom Neck: Common fill level. Many Châteaux release their wine filled to this point. Suggests excellent provenance for wines of any age.

Very Top Shoulder: Also a common fill level. Many Châteaux release their wine filled to this point. Suggests excellent provenance for wines of any age.

Top Shoulder: Acceptable fill level for wines 10 or more years of age. Suggests proper storage condition (provenance) throughout its life. Natural occurrence for wines of this age.

High Shoulder: Usually not a problem for wines in excess of 20 years of age.

This level may be caused by easing of the cork combined with natural evaporation. Clarity and the color of the wine in the bottle should be evaluated.

Mid Shoulder: Refer to Top Shoulder and High Shoulder level descriptions.

Low Shoulder: May suggest ullage during the life of the wine due to either easing of the cork or inconsistent storage conditions. Not abnormal for wines 30 or more years of age. As additional indicators of risk, definitely inspect clarity and color of the wine, as well as condition of the cork.

Shoulder and Below: Might suggest poor provenance. Definitely a risk and often not saleable, with exception given to rare bottlings and/or labels. Not normally recommended for consumption.

Burgundy bottles, due to their shape (lack of defined shoulder), do not allow for a shoulder level rating system. Levels are described by cm below the cork.

Generally, Burgundy wines with 2 to 3 cm fill level or above are considered normal for wines younger than 10 years.

Wines of 15 or more years of age with fill levels of less than 7.5 cm are generally considered to be of sound, though attention should be given to the clarity and color of the wine, as well as the condition of the cork.

Burgundy bottles with fill levels lower than 7.5 cm may be at risk of being damaged or undrinkable, and therefore could be unsellable.

FROM THE CINCINNATI AREA: Take I-71 North to Columbus. Then take Rt. 315N to 270E to 23N. Follow 23 North to Delaware. We are approximately 10 miles North on Route 23. You will pass a golf club on your right and the Methodist Theological Seminary. At the traffic light turn right (Meeker Way).

Follow and turn right on to Stratford Road. The Barn at Stratford is immediately to your right.

FROM THE CLEVELAND AREA: Take I-71 South to Route 36/37 (Delaware/Sunbury exit 131). Take this route into Delaware, and turn left on Route 23 South. Turn left onto Meeker Way (at the sixth traffic light). Follow and turn right on to Stratford Road. The Barn at Stratford is immediately to your right.

FROM COLUMBUS AIRPORT: Take I-670 East to I-270 North (or West) to Cleveland. The first exit past I71 s Route 23 North—Delaware. We are approximately 10 miles North on Route 23. You will pass a Dornoch golf club and the Methodist Theological Seminary on your right. At the traffic light turn right (Meeker Way).

Follow and turn right on to Stratford Road. The Barn at Stratford is immediately to your right.
