This year, we celebrate 17 years with Garth's.
Some days we wonder (with a bit of disbelief) how those 17 years have passed; some days, we can't believe how much at Garth's (and the industry in general) has changed. We still remember the days before eBay; before a website; and before a full-color catalog. We remember monthly auctions and snail-mailing photos with condition reports (now, of course, we email photos even during the auction!). We can remember the very first email blast, and staring with wonder at the instant-report telling us who opened it and when. We even remember life before four kids! Other things have (thankfully), remained exactly the same: heading out to visit clients and look at collections, facing an auction crowd with an adrenalin rush (now we face an in-house crowd and everyone online, via live audio/video), meeting deadlines (sometimes by the skin of our teeth), walking shows and introducing new people to the collecting bug.

Something else that has not changed: the positive, professional and appreciative attitude of everyone at Garth's. We remain grateful for all of the consignors who have ever believed in our abilities to market their collections; grateful for every buyer who took our word for it and trusted us with their purchasing. Coming off the heels of a couple of good auctions, we are simply thankful to have the opportunity to put one foot in front of the other and continue Garth's legacy. ~ and, honestly, more than a bit grateful for all the energy it takes to do it.
