Meet English speaking assistant at the pier and transfer by private boat among the canals of Venice until you reach San Mark's square. Meet your English speaking guide and start the 4hrs Islands Tour. This excursion will take you to explore the three most famous islands of the Venetian Lagoon. An extremely relaxing tour, which combines many different characteristics of Venice: the natural beauty, craftsmanship, a genuine fisherman village atmosphere and the history of the earliest days. Murano is the island famous for its glassmaking, a traditional activity that still preserves the ancient techniques. You will admire the glass masters at work while producing the beautiful objects which have made them famous all over the world. Burano is the most cheerful and popular of the lagoon islands. Its brightly painted houses give it the air of an Italian opera set, while the success of its most important industries, lace making, fishing and boat building, accounts for the well-being of its people. Torcello can be considered the "Mother of Venice" and was settled between the 5th and 7thC by the fist waves of refugees from the Barbarian invasions on the Mainland. Today the island is nearly uninhabited (residents being reduced to 12). Covered by a rich typical vegetation, Torcello preserves the most ancient monument of the Lagoon: the solemn Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in 639 and rebuilt in 1008, decorated with outstanding Byzantine mosaics.

UNDERGROUND ROME

THE HIDDEN CITY IS FINALLY REVEALED SIVE U L C ’S EX R U O GART

ROME

When representing Rome, we often use images like the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain or the Spanish Steps. While being very famous and spectacular, these places cannot represent the entire cultural and artistic heritage of Rome that was accumulated in its 2,700 years of history. Over the centuries, several earthquakes, fires, and floods caused the ground level of the many areas to rise (up to 25 meters) which resulted in the covering up of entire villas, temples and palaces. Many of these sites, now lying under the street level, have been excavated offering a look into Rome's immense underground heritage. The people of Rome built not only incredible buildings on the ground, but also some amazing sites underground. Aqueducts, wells, catacombs, prisons, churches and much more were constructed. These hidden and mysterious parts of the city are what Gartour wants to reveal with its NEW UNDERGROUND EXCLUSIVE ROME TOURS. Our unusual and fascinating itineraries led by an archaeologist, classical historian, medievalist or a certified speleologists for the city of Rome, include many places that are usually impossible for the regular tourist to explore. However, now Gartour will allow its clients access to these wonderful "secret" sites. You will visit crypts, necropolis, aqueducts, catacombs and much more.

Thanks to these unique and exclusive itineraries you will be sure to gain a deeper insight and knowledge of ancient Rome!

***minimum 2 PAX*** Pick up at the pier and private tour full day with English speaking driver from the port of Livorno to Siena and San Gimignano. Siena is the most important destination for a Tuscany shore excursion if you have already visited Florence. Siena is the famous city of the Palio, the site of the "Enoteca Italiana" -the only national wine associationand largest in Tuscany the site of "Monte dei Paschi" -the oldest bank in the world- while San Gimignano is the only Italian towered hill town that maintained intact it's medieval appearance and perfect stereotype of what one would expect a hill town of Tuscany to look like. Beautifully laid out on three hills, Siena owes its popularity as one of the main attractions in Tuscany to its perfectly preserved gothic city centre, with the "Piazza del Campo" one of the most beautiful squares in the world, where the famous Palio di Siena horse race takes place twice a year and the cathedral, considered one of the most impressive churches of Italy especially thanks to its impressively richly decorated interiors.Walking through Siena that is so well preserved you will feel as if you have returned to the end of the XIII century, when Siena represented one of the greatest example of civic, social and political organization not just in Tuscany but in the whole of Europe. The shore Excursion will continue to San Gimignano, famed for its medieval skyscrapers, which justify the title of "Medieval Manhattan of Tuscany". San Gimignano features high city walls and narrow streets that perfectly match what most people imagine of a Tuscan hill-town to be like. Learn about the Guelph-Ghibelline conflict and commercial interests that forced the rich families of San Gimignano to build their towers, as well as what brought fortune and bankruptcy to this town that despite the small size is one of the most visited and unique sights of Tuscany and Italy. Return to the port for embarkation.
