Welcome to the Macau City Running Challenge! In this game your aim will be to work as a team to score as many points as possible. To receive points you must complete challenges from around the city in key locations! Your team will receive a budget of 500 Macau Patacas and must stay together to complete the challenges. You will not have time to complete them all, so be selective! If you cannot solve a problem or cannot find a location try not to worry, there are plenty more points up for grabs in this great city! The city running challenge will start no later than 10am and you must be back at The Sheraton by 1pm in time for a well-deserved lunch. Points will be deducted for a late return. There will be bonus points available for the most punctual team and the most cost conscious team.
You will be provided with the following: A basic map of Macau Bottles of water 500 Macau Patacas A phone number and business card, in case of emergencies
Intro
Take a look at your map. Today’s city running will take place on two of Macau’s islands – Taipa Island (where you are stood now) and Macau Island. You do not have to go to Coloane Island today!
Transport
Macau island is connected to Taipa island by a number of bridges. You can cross by using public transport such as taxis (a little expensive) or by taking advantage of the casino’s free shuttle buses (a little time consuming). Which will you choose?

The Venetian (Taipa Island)

The Venetian is a world famous hotel and casino situated a close walk from The Sheraton, particularly famous for its amazing shopping mall, with its indoor “Venice-like” canals. To score points here complete the following: • Take a picture of one team member standing next to a roulette machine inside the casino (1 point) • Take a picture of two team members and the ‘Venice Sky’ (1 point) • Take a picture of at least 50% of your team next to a gondola (1 point) • Take a photo of “The Bridge of Sighs” (1 point) • Win some money at the casino and take a picture with your winnings ticket (3 points) • Take a picture of at least 80% of your team taking a gondola ride (5 points)

Senado Square (Near Ponte 16)

Welcome to the beating heart of Old Macau, filled with beautiful tiled streets, old colonial buildings, quaint shops and amazing food. • Take a picture of one of your team sitting on the black and white tiled floor of Senado Square (1 point) • Take a picture of the Holy House of Mercy Building (1 point) • Can you find the building used in the background? The Ruin of St. Pauls Probably the most famous destination in all of Macau and a must see for all visitors to the city. Follow the street signs from Senado Square to find your way to this famous landmark! Want points for your efforts? Look at the background picture, which is somewhere around the area which contains the ruins. • What was the name of the artist? _________________________ (2 points) There is a large latin inscription written on the ruins, above the central arch. • What does the inscription say? _________________________ (1 point) • What does this inscription mean in English? _________________________ (1 point) • Who is this distinguished-looking gentleman? (1 point) • Your entire team dance a section of the EF Hello Hello Hello Dance with The Ruins of St Pauls as a backdrop for at least 20 seconds and film it as evidence! Canons and Shopping

Here are some trickier challenges for the Senado Square / Ruins of St Paul area. If you solve them you will be well rewarded with points! • Take a picture of two of your team aiming a canon at one of Macau’s famous casinos! (3 points) Hint: The canons defend a the roof top of a fortress Macau is famous for big name shopping, but it is also famous for some refreshing local products. Buy any of the following for a point each: • A bottle of fresh guava juice (1 point) • A postcard of The Ruins of St Pauls (1 point) • A small pot of tigerbalm (1 point) • A box of Almond Cookies (1 point) • A scoop of limoncello icecream (1 point)

Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre

Welcome to the famous Landmark of Macau. The Tower stands 338 meters tall so it is hard to miss. Here you can find everything from shops to restaurants to bungee jumping. • Take a picture of 50% of your team from the top of the tower (4 points) • Film the 50 year Hello Hello Hello dance outside the tower (5 points) • One person from your team do the Bungee Jump (10 points) • Take a picture outside the tower with 50% of your team (1 point)

Bonus Points ( /15) The following Bonus Points are up for grabs for teams who achieve the following: • The most cost-conscious team. Who has the most money at the end of the city running? (10 points) (this can include money earned from gambling!) • Who is the most punctual team? The first team back to return to the lobby in time for lunch (5 points) Points deducted for late return? (1 point deducted every 5 mins)
