Giving Back Over our 53-year history, Maplewood has a strong commitment to giving back to the communities that surround us and to lend a helping hand to those in need. This is an important aspect of our philosophy, and we believe it is essential that our campers and students recognize that there are many people less fortunate. Whether organizing food drives, adopting families for the holidays, donating our facilities and staff for fundraisers or working with the many organizations that provide support for people and families in need, we understand that helping others is part of the fabric of our social responsibility. Adopt a Family Many families face difficulties during the Holiday season. In the annual "Adopt-a-Family Program", Maplewood is matched with a family who creates wish lists for their children. Our staff and families have contributed generously over the years with gifts and gift cards to help these families have a happy Holiday season. School on Wheels Maplewood is a lead sponsor for the School on Wheels Road Race and we have raised money and donated our facility for organization events. School on Wheels is a nonprofit organization. Their mission is to educate children impacted by homelessness by providing academic support and one-on-one mentoring. Money raised by this event will allow School on Wheels to provide tutors, backpacks and school advocacy for children who are homeless. DJ Henry Maplewood has supported the DJ Dream Fund by hosting a Family Fun Day. We also work closely with them to provide camp scholarships that allow children the opportunity to experience camp. The DJ Dream Fund is a scholarship established in memory of Danroy Henry, Jr. (DJ), who attended high school in Easton. The funds help local students in need participate in wellness programs, summer camps, and athletic activities. MS Walk Each spring Team Maplewood participates in the National MS Society's annual MS walk to help raise funds for research and local programs. It is a small thing for us to do for
people who face the devastating and relentless effects of MS every day. Step by step, we hope to bring the National MS Society closer to a cure. Over the last 11 years, Team Maplewood has raised over $25,000. Support of Local Sports Teams and Community Arts Maplewood is a proud supporter of many local sports teams in the surrounding communities. We are also involved with community enrichment programs that support the arts, theater, museums, and schools.
