Got Your Flu Shot? I haven’t had the flu since my last vaccine shot at Veterans Affairs over 4 years ago. No need when I consume a plant-strong vegan diet! Just yesterday this aticle was posted in facebook by several, including Dr. McDougall I Say “No” to Flu Vaccines To me it’s highly unusual to see or hear an MD speaking against these things. “In the US, national guidelines for receiving an annual flu vaccine extend to almost everyone over the age of six months old. Nevertheless, I recommend that my patients of all ages not take these incessantly promoted immunizations, primarily because of their lack of effectiveness.” There are some risks from influenza vaccines, including injection site pain, allergic reactions, fever, fatigue, headache, and narcolepsy (excessive sleepiness). Flu shots have: found no benefits from vaccinating the elderly. little benefit for children: “No benefits for those two years or younger. little benefit in adults the preventive effect for healthy adults was small. benefits for pregnant women were uncertain or at least very limited. Read his article…it’s loaded with reasons not to get vaccinated. Dr. McDougall does believe in some vaccinations. such as smallpox and poliomyelitis, though he is concerned by aluminum in some of these influenza vaccinations. Arthur J Morris Hicks posts in a blog this conclusion on flu shots: For me, what I have doing since 2002 seems to be working fine for me. I also know that all drugs are toxic—containing ingredients that our body does not need. I just learned while researching for this blog that the typical flu shot contains some formaldehyde, mercury and aluminum—all of which my body most certainly does not need. I have chosen to follow the advice of the plant-based savvy medical doctors featured in Chapter One of our book. As Dr. Joel Fuhrman says in the article cited below: The most effective artillery we have to protect ourselves against the potential damaging effects of influenza and other infectious disease is nutritional excellence. Micronutrients—meaning vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals—fuel various clever host defense mechanisms…

Dr Mark Hyman in Should I get the Flu Shot? He writes that flu is an imbalance and some detective work is needed to find out what missing pieces are interfering with the efficacy of their immune system. When the immune system is compromised it has less ability to fight off the flu or really any of the myriad viruses, bacteria or toxins we are perpetually faced with every minute of every day. You can still get the flu if you have been vaccinated and if the strain you caught doesn’t match that which was in your vaccine. You can still get the flu even if the strains were properly matched but your immune system was not in excellent shape! I think a cold or flu is nothing but our body conducting a cleansing… Out with the built up mucus and other substances.

See my previous post on Immunity. Conclusion Where ever you drive you’re inundated with signs: “Get your flu shot here!” Last month at Walgreen’s the worker offered me a shot. “No, thanks, you can have mine.” She declined. Safer and more effective vaccines are definitely needed. Do a google search and you Will find proponents as well as opponents to influenza vaccinations. I know there are many on both sides of this argument. As for me? I’m PASSING on the vaccines. http://www.plant-strong-health-blog-by-gary.com/flu-vaccine/
