What if I have Heart Disease? GWilkerson10/25/2014 Disease

If I have heart disease will I be on medicines for life?

A few months ago some almost disturbing information floated to the surface in my medical records. Somebody found that I had Ischemic heart disease, coronary artery disease and a

clogged carotid artery

Heart Disease

after the stroke in 2004. This news of heart disease doesn’t disturb me now that I am eating primarily Whole Food, Plant-Based, very little olive oil or processed or refined foods and my cholesterol was 141 with LDL of 63 in May 2014. What was disturbing to me was the fact that nobody had mentioned these issues. No one whatsoever. I mentioned this info to my Dr. at the local VA clinic. She actually called to discuss the matter and scheduled appointments for checking these by echo cardiograms. According to Caldwell B. Esselstyn Jr., M.D. no one has

had a heart attack if their cholesterol is under 150 and their LDL is under 80 without drugs to achieve this. I had no cholesterol lowering drugs. Don’t need them. I have food as my medicine. WebMD states this abouut heart disease: Coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, heart attack — each type of heart problem requires different treatment but may share similar warning signs. It is important to see your doctor so that you can receive a correct diagnosis and prompt treatment. Learn to recognize the symptoms that may signal heart disease. Call your doctor if you begin to have new symptoms or if they become more frequent or severe. Dr. Esselstyn has some interesting and informative videos on YouTube. Prevent And Reverse Heart Disease is a good one. Make Yourself Heart Attack Proof is one of my favorites by Dr. Esselstyn. Olive Oil is NOT a health food. It’s a sick food. Not only olive oil; any oil that is refined is nonhealth-promoting, inflamation promoting. Just ask Jeff Novick is not the only one with this belief. It’s a 10 minute video.. Please watch it. Any food that damages our endothelial cells lining should be avoided. This lining is what lines our arteries and keeps them slippery so blood can flow through unimpeded. Dr. Esselstyn explains this in the above video links far better than I am able. He also explains nitric gas and much more.

Montefiore Einstein Cardiac Wellness Program was created and directed by Robert Ostfeld, MD, MSc and co-directed by Lauren Graf, MS, RD bringing a unique, nutrition-centered approach to managing cardiovascular disease. The program aims to prevent and reverse heart disease with a whole food/plant-based diet. Dr. Ostfeld and Ms. Graf work with patients to embrace a diet that includes no animal products and consists of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, legumes such as lentils and chickpeas, a small amount of nuts and avocado, as well as dairy alternatives. In parts of the world people eat a plant-based diet, such as rural China and Central Africa and heart disease is less common. Taking someone from that kind of environment and move them to

the Western world, within a generation or two they catch up to us on heart disease. Genes don’t change that quickly so this is a result of lifestyle–likely in part becaue of the toxic Western diet.

Conclusion

I prefer not having sludge coursing through my arteries, clogging them, sticking to the walls, causing inflammation in them. Bye bye heart disease! Who needs the number 1 killer anyway? I consume very little oil.. including olive oil; and minimal saturated fats. Why have any concerns about this #1 killer?? Why not just cure it and be done with it? Consume a Whole Food, PlantStrong diet, very low Salt, oil or sugars and never have to worry about it again. http://www.plant-strong-health-blog-by-gary.com/heart-disease/
