Why eat Whole Food, Plant-Based? GWilkerson10/17/2014 Plant Based Nutrition

There are many benefits of eating Whole Food, Plant-Based Nutrition.

You have a better chance at living a longer life. You have much less risk of getting cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases. You help contribute to saving billions of animals from abuse and torture. You help to ease rampant pollution of our valuable resources.Your later years will be better quality. Poor health and a nursing home are not given in this life.

We can choose another way.

Heart disease can be a thing of the past as long as we also avoid saturated fats, transfats and cholesterol in our diets. “Heart disease is a total toothless tiger. It need never exist…and if it does exist it need never progress.” ~ Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr. M. D. It seems the same goes for diabetes, many cancers and other diseases as well. Our body is a healing miracle. 

It only needs proper fuel. Plant fuel beats animal based fuel by a humongous margin. Would you run an airplane on kerosene? Why run your body on equally poor fuel? It is one thing to avoid poor eating habits and food that makes us sick. The path to health is to consume foods that are nutrient dense, not calorie dense. Your body will detoxify itself. You won’t believe how it feels when the sludge is no longer coursing through your arteries. You may also have boundless energy as well. You will have healthier bones. The belief that animal protein helps grow stronger bones or muscles is a Myth.

When more and more people go to a plant-based diet, billions of dollars may be saved by Medicare & Medicaid. A few years ago a Dr. at Fort Worth, TX VA clinic told me that my triglycerides were getting a little high and if it was not down in three months he would put me on more pills. I tried that day to see the dietitian there, to no avail. She never even called. You may be wondering what the difference is between vegan and plant-based… Ok, Happy Herbivore has a blog post on the matter. What is a Plant-Based Diet? (The Difference Between “Plant-Based” and “Vegan”) By the next appointment my triglycerides AND cholesterol were down. The only thing I did was to cut way down on dairy. That being cheese and ice cream. These continued to be available at every meal until the end of August 2011 when we moved to Albuquerque and went vegan finally. I’ve since gone Whole Food, Plant-Based with very low Salt-Oil-Sugar. This has enhanced my health in numerous ways. Weight drops away, though slowly in my case. My cholesterol levels dropped to levels considered by some Doctors to be fully safe from heart attack. The medical industry seems to consider under 200 is good. My ‘safe’ level is under 150! In May 2014 it was 141 with 63 LDL – (Lethal cholesterol)

I challenge you to join me and others in this lifestyle.. Try it, you will like it. http://www.plant-strong-health-blog-by-gary.com/why-should-i-eat-whole-food-plant-based/
