Your exception is Never Not seen GWilkerson11/06/2014 Plant Based Nutrition

Every Cell Knows We often think we can fool our body and eat whatever we want. Too many do this for a lifetime, too often a lifetime cut short by it. Maintaining Perspective – An exception to your diet is considered an exception because it is something you rarely do. If you start doing it every day and/or at every meal it is no longer an exception. If you add in a few more of these “exceptions” and do the same with them, the exceptions have become the rule, and the healthy foods have become the exception. – A tbsp of oil is 120 calories – A tbsp of sugar is 50 calories – An ounce of chocolate is 150 calories – A 5 oz glass of wine is 120 calories – A serving of a refined grain is 80 calories – A small piece of vegan pie, cake or a cookie can be 80 calories. The total of the above is about 600 calories which would be 1/3 of an 1800 calorie diet, 1/4 of a 2400 calorie diet. And that is for just one serving of each. Have 2 servings of each and you are at 1200 calories which is 2/3 of an 1800 calorie diet and 1/2 of a 2400 calorie diet. Remember, as Dr Klaper said; “Your body is never ‘not watching’.” ~ Jeff Novick, MS, RD Right, one piece of chocolate once a month won’t kill you. One piece once a day and you may have problems. Make it the Real ‘exception’ if you must indulge. It’s when it becomes a daily ‘exception’ you get into trouble. But that is no longer an exception, that’s when it is a habit. Here’s Dr. Klaper on what happens when we eat SuperSize Me Selected scenes from the documentary “Supersize Me” directed by Morgan Spurlock, focusing on what too much McD’s does to your body and how it makes one feel. The full length documentary is probably still available online. It’s on Netflix in dvd, not for streaming. It is highly recommended you consume a WFPB diet with low to no SOS. FED UP blows the lid off everything we thought we knew about food and weight loss, revealing a 30-year campaign by the food industry, aided by the U.S. government, to mislead and confuse the American public, resulting in one of the largest health epidemics in history. The increase in health problems and fatal diseases is happening because of how we are eating. Can I Resist?

Dean Ornish, M.D. wrote several books. I read “The Spectrum” It’s a good book to read! He eats a small piece of gourmet chocolate every day… occasionally two. I think that’s good for him.

I’m not so sure I could resist eating more than one. His book has lots of recipes in it; some include dairy, for beginners to start somewhere and work up the spectrum to better health. Conclusion

In March 2012 I bought “EAT TO LIVE” ~ Joel Furhman, M. D. and “THE CHINA STUDY” ~ T Colin Campbell, PhD., read those and shifted toward a whole plant-based food lifestyle. Still, it’s a learning process, learning that some things, though plant sourced, are not whole food plant based, nor are they health-promoting. Tropical Oils, to be more precise, are loaded with Saturated Fats. These can be worse than consuming cholesterol! Be AWARE of what goes into your mouth. Now I am more able to “just say no!” to many of the things that tempt, but no longer control my will-power. Remember: Whatever we eat, our body is Always looking.
