Phantom black is more than just the color of the cowl.
THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS What type of engine do you need? Two-stroke? Four-stroke? With Mercury,® there is no wrong answer. Different boats demand different engines. While our competitors typically offer only one technology, Mercury has perfected them all. That’s the Mercury advantage. We’re proud to offer the marine industry’s most comprehensive, leading-edge lines of two-stroke and four-stroke engines, led by our supercharged FourStroke Verado® and the world’s most preferred two-stroke outboard, OptiMax.®
FOUR-STROKE
Intake. Compression. Power. Exhaust. Those are the stages of four-cycle
combustion. Because every combustion series consists of four discrete stages, four-stroke engines tend to be quieter, smoother and more fuel-efficient than two-strokes, all while producing fewer emissions. Four-strokes typically lack the torque, muscle and overall giddyup of two-stroke engines. But Mercury Marine® is not your typical four-stroke manufacturer.
From our sensationally powerful Verado 300 hp, all the way down to our simple 2.5 hp portable, every Mercury FourStroke is smoother, cleaner, quieter and more dependable than any competitor’s engine. Plus, much like our two-strokes, Mercury FourStrokes have never lacked in the power department. That’s specifically true with Mercury Verado, the most sophisticated FourStroke ever. As the world’s only supercharged production engine, Verado combines the silky-smooth performance of a luxury sedan with the get-up-and-go of a big-block muscle car.

TWO-STROKE
Piston upstroke. Piston downstroke. Two simple strokes that deliver a ton
of advantages. With a more-concise combustion cycle and less bulk, two-stroke outboards are notorious for their acceleration, throttle response and superb power-to-weight ratio. But while boaters love the raw power of two-strokes, they historically have been turned off by their lower fuel economy and higher emissions.
But 10 years ago, Mercury designed and engineered OptiMax – a Direct Injected engine that combines the power of a two-stroke with the advantages of a four-stroke. OptiMax has the heart, soul, speed and power of a traditional two-stroke, but its unique two-stage injection system creates a remarkably complete combustion – which means boaters can have a great time on the water while feeling good about conserving fuel and producing fewer emissions.

UNDER THE DARKEST COWLS LIE THE BRIGHTEST IDEAS When it comes to marine power, there’s no need to fear the dark.
Rather than playing conservatively, Mercury chooses to conquer. To stand up and rank first at something significant, instead of settling for mediocrity. We started with a clean sheet of paper and created a totally unique engine from the water up.
If you want to be revolutionary, rig your boat with the first and only production supercharged engine in the history of marine propulsion. Dare to discover the exhilarating results of unbridled thinking merging with courageous engineering and breakthrough ideas teamed with tireless follow-through.
Experience luxury sedan comfort and hot-rod performance as you sail swift and sure over the chop. Feel record-setting acceleration and ridiculously smooth steering and throttle response. Get to know what more than 25,000 hours of testing can produce. Experience greatness. Experience Verado.

THINK SMART The SmartCraft® Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) System offers unmatched shifting, lightning-fast throttle response and reliable performance. In addition, Auto Sync® automatically synchronizes rpm on multiple engines. Nothing’s smarter or smoother.
THE WIND IN YOUR FACE, A LEGEND AT YOUR BACK
THREE OR FOUR ENGINES, TWO LEVERS, NO SWEAT
Hit the throttle and experience the power of boating’s only supercharged outboard. Our supercharger creates greater torque. Greater torque provides awesome acceleration and lets you keep a heavily loaded boat on plane at slower speeds and climb taller waves. So, while those other guys are eating waves, you’ll be doing what you enjoy most.
The patented, award-winning SmartCraft Shadow Technology delivers intuitive, easy control by allowing you to pilot three (or even four) engines with just two levers – even from dual helms. When all three of your engines are in the same gear, the center engine “shadows” the two outside engines by running at an average rpm of the two outside engines. When the outside engines are in opposite gears for docking, the center engine defaults to neutral. Source: Tests conducted by Mercury Marine – June 2007. Test conducted on a 23' fiberglass fishing boat using a Mercury Verado 300 hp FourStroke and a Suzuki DF300 four-stroke. *Dry Weight specification is for lightest-version model only, without oil, propeller or integral steering cylinder.

REACHING THE TOP STARTS IN THE MIDDLE
WELCOME TO UNCHARTED TERRITORY
Most engines are soft in the middle – big powerheads on top, props at the bottom, not much muscle in between. The “torso” of a Verado, however, is like a set of washboard abs – powerful to the core. At the heart of Verado is our exclusive Advanced MidSection (AMS) – a unique cradle-mount concept that surrounds the powerhead with four progressive rate mounts. Those mounts isolate the powerhead to eliminate vibration and stiffen as thrust load increases to improve handling. Plus the AMS positions the engine five inches farther aft than traditional outboards, eliminating the need for heavy aftermarket hardware, such as jack plates. Smarter and more streamlined, the AMS provides more lift and generates better top-speed performance.

FASTER 4 mph FASTER AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE (WOT) TO 13% BETTER FUEL ECONOMY FARTHER UP THROUGH THE CRUISE RANGE
QUIETER SUZUKI IS 2X LOUDER THAN VERADO AT WOT
KEEPING OUR CYLINDERS AND OUR COMPETITION IN LINE On this engine block, no cylinder ever gets out of line. We keep all six in a straight line to form a unified power source to give you perfect balance, minimal vibration, smooth performance and maximum torque.
SMOOTH OPERATOR We don’t recommend it, but you could steer Verado with your eyes closed. That’s how smooth the controls are. Let the other skippers get worn out by their inconsistent steering systems as you sit back and enjoy the ease and consistency of electro-hydraulic power steering at your fingertips. At the end of a long day, your arms will be tired from pulling in fish, not steering your boat.
A TIGHT SHIP STARTS WITH A TIGHT ENGINE To some, they’re just 14 bolts. To us, they’re 14 more secrets under our cowl. Mercury uses these “long bolts” to keep the engine block in a constant state of compression, which increases durability and offers more confidence on the water.

SUPERIORITY IS BUILT FROM WITHIN
FILL UP ON FACTS
No engine uses more stainless steel parts than Verado. With three times more stainless steel components in this powerhouse, Verado is more resistant to salt and corrosion than any other outboard. While a Yamaha® 150 hp four-stroke tries to keep corrosion at bay with a mere 12 pounds of stainless steel and a Suzuki 150 hp four-stroke employs just 11 pounds, a Verado 150 hp boasts 39 pounds. Sure rust never sleeps, but then again, neither do we.
While the other guys were busy refueling, Mercury went to work redefining the rules of consumption. The result? The Range Plus Powertrain, which provides better fuel economy through signficant powertrain refinements leaving the other guys feeling pretty empty inside. At cruise, a new Verado 150 hp delivers up to 26% more mpg than a Suzuki 150 hp and up to 43% more mpg than an Evinrude® 150 hp E-TEC.

From the word “go” Verado shows off its exclusive supercharged system, delivering the torque big boats need to get up on plane and to tackle big water. In fact, compared to other 150 hp outboards, a Verado 150 hp accelerates from 0 – 20 mph 28% faster than Suzuki, 31% faster than Honda® and 8% faster than a four-stroke Yamaha and Evinrude E-TEC.

ENOUGH WITH THEIR LITTLE WHITE LIES Fact: Mercury OptiMax was the world’s first Direct Injected outboard. Fact: OptiMax continues to receive the industry’s highest customer-satisfaction rating. Fact: OptiMax is the preferred power of more bass pros. Fact: OptiMax is the world’s top-selling DI outboard. Fact: When it comes to marine propulsion, there’s nothing more powerful than the truth. At Mercury, we don’t exaggerate the truth about our OptiMax engines because we don’t need to. We simply run our engines against theirs and the difference is black and white: No two-stroke engine can beat OptiMax. Not Yamaha HPDI,® not Evinrude E-TEC. No one. If they say otherwise, we’re always anxious to line ’em up again. Stick with the truth. Stick with Mercury.

WHY THE OTHER GUYS HATE OUR GUTS
DRIVE WATER AND ADRENALINE You want fast? You want a Mercury Tempest® Plus prop. Its three-blade, stainless steel design is tough. The higher rake and bigger cup produce better handling and lift. Quick, fast, tough; maybe that’s why more bass boat companies make Tempest Plus standard equipment on their boats.

A LEGEND FROM THE START
BEAT ’EM TO THE PUNCH – AND THE FISH
OptiMax created that big splash called DI technology more than a decade ago, and the competition has been flailing in our wake ever since. OptiMax stands alone as the bestselling DI engine in the world and for good reason: Boaters know that when they’ve got an OptiMax at their back, nothing can stand in their way. It’s no surprise that OptiMax continues to receive the industry’s highest customer-satisfaction rating year after year.
You can’t fill your livewell with excuses. So strike first and ask questions later with the most responsive two-stroke DI on the water. When tested side by side, an OptiMax 200 hp blew Evinrude E-TEC HO right out of the water. OptiMax went from 0 – 30 mph 7% faster than the Evinrude E-TEC and from 40 – 60 mph 11% quicker.

IT’S SIMPLE: OPTIMAX GETS THERE FIRST
Mercury OptiMax continues to receive the industry’s highest customer-satisfaction rating year after year. Perch those accolades on top of more than a decade of leadership in DI technology, and you can take to the water with a boatload of confidence.
There’s a reason more pros trust OptiMax than any other DI engine: When they absolutely need to be somewhere first, they can count on the unsurpassed acceleration and top speed of OptiMax. From 0 – 20 mph, OptiMax 150 hp beats every four-stroke: 33% faster than Honda, 30% faster than Suzuki and 11% faster than Yamaha. It’s even 11% faster than Evinrude E-TEC. Bottom line, the competition simply can’t outrun the truth. 19
OUT OF SIGHT, PEACE OF MIND Why is a Mercury FourStroke better? Because it’s nearly invisible. Go ahead. Rig a Mercury on the back of your boat, and you’ll rarely notice it. Oddly enough, that’s what makes it stand out. When you turn the key, you know it’s going to start. When you hit the throttle, you’ll always have enough power. When you check the fuel gauge, there’s enough to keep the good times rolling. That’s the mark of great recreational power. You focus on the recreation, not the power. If you do happen to forget about your Mercury? Don’t worry. It’s tough enough to handle it.

NO SWEAT, IT’S A WORRY-FREE OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE
WHEN DO WE START?
NOTHING’S MORE RELAXING THAN RELIABILITY
Can’t wait another second to get on the water? Then count on Mercury to get your day started right. One turn of the key and you can expect to hear the soft purr of the engine. Only Mercury EFI performance ensures consistent turn-key starting every time, so you don’t waste time getting your boat off and running.
Unlike competitive engines, people don’t use four-letter words when they talk about Mercury FourStrokes. Is it because they’re so reliable? So quiet? Or so worry-free? Yes, uh-huh and absolutely. The truth is, thanks to its maintenancefree valve train and loads of other reliable features, this could be the last time you ever think about an engine for your boat. When you mount a Mercury on your transom, you’ll never, ever look back, and that kind of peace of mind can’t be beat.

MERCURY FOURSTROKE
YAMAHA: Yamaha four-stroke is 26% louder than a Mercury FourStroke at idle
EVINRUDE: Evinrude E-TEC is 182% louder than a Mercury FourStroke at idle
IS THIS THING ON?
LET’S BRING EVERYONE UP TO SPEED
We’ve got an announcement to make. Thanks to impressive advancements such as engineered air intakes, acoustic foam lining and an integrated idle-relief attenuator, the Mercury 90 hp FourStroke is remarkably quieter than the competition. In fact, compared to our 90 hp, a Yamaha 90 hp four-stroke is 26% louder and Evinrude E-TEC is 182% louder. Sound amazing? Well, on top of that, our in-line design creates a ride so calm and comfortable, calling it smooth would be an insult.
Still not positive Mercury beats the other guys in every way? Our acceleration figures should provide the knockout punch. A Mercury 90 hp FourStroke goes from 0 – 30 mph almost four seconds faster than Evinrude E-TEC and nearly two seconds faster than a Yamaha four-stroke. No matter how heavy the load, Mercury gets you on plane faster than they can say “lights out.”

FILL THE LIVEWELL, NOT THE FUEL TANK
SLOW AND STEADY GETS THE FISH
Packing up the boat for a day on the water? You can leave the spare gas tank behind. Mercury FourStrokes won’t interrupt your day with an unscheduled trip to the pump. In fact, our BigFoot 60 hp gets better mpg than Evinrude E-TEC and more mpg than Suzuki.

SMALL ENGINES, BIG PERFORMANCE
Mercury FourStrokes lead the pack by optimizing performance and providing smooth, quiet operation. If you’re looking for precise trolling, these Mercury FourStrokes can troll at slower speeds than competitive engines. In fact, our FourStroke slower than Evinrude E60 hp can troll TEC and slower than Suzuki. The kicker here is, you won’t need a kicker.

EVINRUDE: 11% mpg better than Evinrude E-TEC
SUZUKI:
20% mpg better than Suzuki
THE MOST POWERFUL CO-PILOT Only Mercury FourStrokes help you make the most of your time on the water with greater thrust and control. Mercury BigFoot features: (1) an oversized antiventilation plate that prevents air from being drawn into the prop (2) a taller and more durable gearcase that uses a low 2.33:1 gear ratio, which provides more torque (3) a 20% bigger prop that creates more thrust for increased maneuverability. When your pontoon is loaded and ready for action, a Mercury BigFoot 60 hp delivers up to more reverse thrust than Evinrude E-TEC and more than Suzuki and Yamaha four-strokes. That translates to more control in tight spaces and easier docking.

IN FOR THE LONG HAUL Nobody builds better engines and nobody backs them better. Only Mercury FourStrokes have a three-year limited, factory-backed nondeclining warranty on the entire engine and a three-year limited corrosion protection plan to make sure you spend time on the water, not in the shop.
BE A JET PILOT Our 25 hp Jet isn’t jumbo, but it sure is strong. This EFI powerhouse gives you the freedom to fly over shallow lakes, rocky rivers, narrow streams and other waterways you wouldn’t dream of taking a traditional propeller-driven outboard. Plus, Mercury’s 25 hp Jet offers three-star emissions, durable stainless steel impellers and a three-year limited, factory-backed nondeclining warranty. THEY’RE ALL RUNNING BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD Mercury FourStrokes 25 – 30 hp are the very first battery-free, manual-start, EFI engines in the category. When it comes to low-emission engines, consistent turn-key starting, efficient fuel management and smooth performance regardless of conditions, no one can keep up with Mercury EFI technology.
IT STARTS WHEN YOU SAY SO
PROVEN PORTABLE POWER
When the battery on an ordinary engine is drained, you’re sunk. Not so with Mercury FourStrokes 25 – 30 hp. Every engine in this horsepower range comes standard with a manual recoil starter. So even if the battery quits, you can take matters into your own hands and keep your trip going strong.

STEP UP TO BIGFOOT
A WEIGHT OFF YOUR SHOULDERS Our 2.5 and 3.5 hp FourStrokes weigh just 42 pounds, including the one-quart integrated fuel tank. Nothing moves a big load better than BigFoot. It features a taller gearcase to place the propeller deeper in the water, producing more thrust to power heavier loads. From a pontoon to a large fishing boat to a shallow water skiff, BigFoot s unique design delivers the control, thrust and maneuverability needed to produce big-time fun.
CONVENIENCE HAS NEVER BEEN SO CLEVER
STUFFED TO THE GILLS WITH FEATURES
Never before has portable power seemed so perfect. Notorious for their user-friendly features like full forward and reverse shifting, our 4, 5 and 6 hp FourStrokes also offer through-prop exhaust that buries the sound underwater for quieter operation and a decompression system that allows for quick and effortless one-hand starting. Plus, our 4 hp model raises the bar with an integrated fuel tank with shutoff.
Our 2.5 and 3.5 hp FourStrokes may be small, but they’re filled with big ideas. Both engines feature tiller steering that rotates 360 degrees and a twist grip throttle for maximum maneuverability and convenient one-handed control. Plus, a clearly visible sight gauge makes it easy to monitor and maintain a proper oil level.

LEAN, MEAN, PORTABLE MACHINES Even with all the user-friendly features included, our 8 and 9.9 hp FourStrokes are the lightest in their class. A convenient multifunction tiller handle provides easy one-hand shifting operation while the manual choke and primer features make it easy to get things started. Plus these outboards come equipped with our exclusive automatic reverse hooks that don’t require you to manually change a clumsy lever to hold the engine in place while running in reverse.
KEEP IT TOGETHER The Mercury Pro Kicker tiller model features the fastest tilt in its class, and is equipped with an exclusive kicker centering strap that automatically straightens and secures the engine once it’s completely tilted up. So when you’re ready to roll, your trolling engine won’t flop around like a fish out of water. The kicker straps are optional on remote-control models. 29
MERCURY IMPELLERS: PUMP UP YOUR PERFORMANCE Mercury-exclusive rubber compounds allow our water pump impellers to remain flexible while providing precise flow rates for proper engine cooling throughout the recommended service interval. Mercury laboratory testing has shown that even after 100 hours of use, our impellers can generate a higher volume of water flow than a brand new aftermarket impeller.
MERCURY ANODES: YOUR TRUSTED LINE OF DEFENSE The purity of the alloy used to manufacture sacrificial anodes is critical to its ability to protect your engine from the ravages of galvanic corrosion. Only Mercury Precision Parts® anodes contain proprietary alloys that can give you the peace of mind you’re looking for in the fight against corrosion.
THE POWER OF PRECISION The only way to ensure your engine performs to its original specifications is to use original equipment parts. As the world leader in marine propulsion technology, our commitment is simple: to provide the highest-quality marine parts and accessories, period. While aftermarket companies may say their parts “will fit,” the fact is that only Mercury Precision Parts can guarantee genuine Mercury quality. That’s because they are specifically engineered and manufactured to perform at the highest standards – Mercury standards.
MERCURY OILS: TO PROTECT AND PERFORM MERCURY 2-CYCLE OIL
MERCURY 4-CYCLE OIL
Our 2-cycle oils far exceed the marine industry’s TC-W3 standard so that they don’t just “meet” warranty requirements – they maximize performance and long-term reliability.
When it comes to four-stroke oils, Mercury protects your investment like nothing else can. Unlike automotive oils, Mercury four-stroke oils are specifically formulated to operate at sustained rpms in a corrosive marine environment. In fact, all of our four-stroke oils are manufactured to exceed FC-W requirements – the standard by which all four-stroke marine engine oils are measured.

Out on the water you need information at your fingertips. You need an LCD display that assembles your vessel’s vital information into one simple-to-navigate device so you can make quick, sound decisions. You need VesselView™ from SmartCraft. This premier information display brings together all functions on the vessel through a clear, direct-sunlight-viewable full-color display. From engine information to generator controls, VesselView is the information portal to your boat.
WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER The patented, award-winning SmartCraft Shadow Technology delivers intuitive, easy control by allowing you to pilot three or four engines with just two levers – even from dual helms. When all three of your engines are in the same gear, the center engine “shadows” the two outside engines by running at an average rpm of the two outside engines. When the outside engines are in opposite gears for docking, the center engine defaults to neutral. Dual Console Mount with Trim
MORE BRAINPOWER ON BOARD SmartCraft Smart Tow™ GPS and rpm control system is the first consistent rpm control technology for water recreation. This advanced technology delivers faster response, 100% engine throttle capability and the ability to set launch rpm for consistent holeshots. Smart Tow consists of two high-tech components in one easy-to-program gauge: an rpm-based set-point control and our exclusive launch control system. You simply customize your setting on the gauge, move to WOT and Smart Tow takes you to your exact desired rpm level – smoothly, consistently and with total control. Smart Tow Gauge
