HO W D O W E S T R U C T U R E L E A R NING?

The Clevedon Eye In every lesson, your teachers will ACTIVATE what you already know, ask you to THINK AND QUESTION this and then give you the chance to SHOW AND TALK ABOUT all the new ideas and knowledge you have.

TIM stands for TRIPLE IMPACT MARKING. This is how your teachers use written feedback to have an individual conversation with you about your learning.

Your teachers will tell you about any GAP there might be between your goals and your progress and how to close those gaps.

You can use your PROGRESS PLANNER to to record your reflections and actions you have taken as a result of feedback you receive about your progress. It also has vital information for you to keep and refer to at all times.

HOMEWORK PROJECTS give you the chance to lead your own learning beyond the lesson. This means you can be really confident about your new knowledge.

Your teachers and tutors will help you use the APPROACHES TO LEARNING guide so you can actively reflect on how positively you have approached your learning and what steps might help you develop a GROWTH MINDSET. 3

WH AT A R E W E L O O K I N G FOR ?

Approaches to Learning When you come across each new learning experience, you can use it to develop your very own personal GROWTH MINDSET. To do this, your subject teachers, your tutors and your peers will give you feedback on how well you have approached the completion of tasks and challenges. To make sure you can use this feedback to fulfill your goals, you will have regular opportunities to reflect on your progress with your tutor group. You can reflect on how your GROWTH MINDSET is developing by using your ‘Approaches to Learning’ (ATL) guide. When you discuss your learning with your tutor, your tutor group and people at home, you can use your ATLs to set yourself even more exciting and ambitious goals. This means that your ATL guide will help you to identify where you are now, where you need to be and what you can do next to make excellent progress.

CHAPTER 4

Share & map your progress

By the middle of your first term, you will be bursting with new ideas, experiences and knowledge, so we want you to have the chance to tell us and the people at home all about this. This is when we have a very special opportunity for you to really show how you are leading your own learning on an evening called “Meet The Tutor. 33

SECTION 1

Meet The Tutor (MTT) Very quickly, you will feel fully part of Clevedon School. You will be showing everybody how well you are leading your learning. You will be acting on your feedback and regularly setting ambitious goals for yourself in every part of your school life. Your Tutor and your fellow tutor group members will help you to prepare everything that you want to include in your PROGRESS MAP. This will help you tell people at home (and your tutor!) all the amazing things you have achieved during your first term at Clevedon School. You can then share and talk through your PROGRESS MAP on the Meet The Tutor evening!

STEP ONE: PREPARATION

STEP TWO: MAKE IMPROVEMENTS

STEP THREE: CREATE YOUR PROGRESS MAP

During your first term, your tutor and tutor group will ask you about what you are enjoying, what you are finding challenging and help you reflect on your learning

You will be able to record feedback from your teachers and your classmates in your Progress Planner. You can use this to reflect on your learning and include it in your PROGRESS MAP

You will have lots of examples of feedback in your Progress Planner. This will let you know how well you are progressing. All of this will now be ready to share in your PROGRESS MAP

34

P REPA R ING Y O U R P R O G R E SS M AP

Preparing your progress map Here are some things you can record and collect examples of as you prepare your personal PROGRESS MAP. Remember, how it finally looks will be entirely up to you! List three examples of when teachers have given you feedback and you have improved on your learning. Make a list of things you know and can do that I didn’t know and couldn’t do at the beginning of this term Make a list of all the different activities to show that you are an active member of your House and Tutor Group Explain how you have developed your team work skills in your subject lessons...

Write about your biggest challenge so far AND say how you were successful in overcoming that challenge List the subjects you want to GROW your confidence in and who could help you do this Select three subjects where you have had to THINK really hard and say how this felt for you Write down at least two different ways that you can use to help you get ‘UN-STUCK’ Write down what you plan to do to improve your APPROACHES TO LEARNING and GO GREEN next term 35
