Dónde estamos hoy?... Cada año manifiesto mi aprecio por el tipo de vida que llevamos aquí en Sitges equiparables a las de los heterosexuales. Lo cual es cierto bajo casi cualquier circunstancia. Sin embargo, el péndulo oscilante de la opinión o el sentimiento públicos en los últimos años, correcto o incorrecto, afortunado o lamentable, importa en política. Muchos pasos que hemos dado política y socialmente en el mundo, parece que han sido contrarrestados de muchas maneras y, desafortunadamente, han desatado un aumento de la derecha en las democracias globales. Me recuerda a la tercera ley de Newton, para cada acción, hay una reacción igual y opuesta. El problema permanece; nunca comenzamos desde un lugar donde todas las cosas son iguales. ¿Por qué no podemos abrazar a los niños afeminados y los hombres amorosos? Y a las chicas intrépidas que recorren un camino menos glamuroso que las lleva a convertirse en mujeres que muestran abiertamente su confianza y fortaleza en un mundo de hombres ... Este mes de junio se cumple el quincuagésimo aniversario de los disturbios de Stonewall en Greenwich Village, en la ciudad de Nueva York, que lanzó el movimiento contemporáneo de los derechos LGBTI +. Y como hito historico, es nuestro deber mantener viva su memoria para acercarnos a nuestro objetivo final, la igualdad: ese momento en que el pendulo oscilante finalmente descansa en equilibrioLa lucha continúa

here are we today?... Every year I state my appreciation of the lives we lead here in Sitges as being equal to those of heterosexuals. And for all intent and purposes, it’s true. However, the swinging pendulum of public opinion or sentiment in recent years—right or wrong, fortunate or woeful—in politics matters. Many steps we’ve taken forward in the world, politically and socially, it appears, have been countered in many ways and most unfortunately, has unleashed a right-wing surge in global democracies. It reminds me of Newton's third law, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The problem remains; we never started from a place of all things being equal. Why can’t we embrace the effeminate boys and the gentle men? And embolden girls who walk a less glamorous path to become women who openly display their confidence and strength in a man’s world… This June marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in Greenwich Village, in New York City, which launched the modern LGBTI+ rights movement. And as a landmark in time, it behoves us to not lose sight of this pivot in history, with the focus of the goal of attaining equality—the time when the swinging pendulum finally rests in eq uilibrium. The struggle continues,

La revista THE VISIÓN es la única revista dirigida específicamente a los lectores LGTB+ y afines al colectivo que residen en Sitges o lo visitan. La escribimos para manteneros informados a la vez que entretenidos.
THE Vision magazine is the only magazine specifically aimed at the LGBT+ and LGBT-friendly readers living in and visiting Sitges. It is written for your entertainment and information.
La revista es de arte y cultura LGTB+ y explora esta subcultura investigando lo que es importante para las personas que la viven. Trata sobre las vivencias que experimentamos, no sobre los estilos de vida estereotípicos que la sociedad pueda creer que llevamos. Su sólido y fundamentado contenido nos muestra un variado grupo de escritores representativos de cada sector de la comunidad. Su intención es ayudar a los lectores LGTBI+ a conocer algo de Sitges y de su propia herencia, manteniendo la conexión entre el presente y el pasado creando, al mismo tiempo, vínculos con asociaciones similares y con entidades municipales.
The magazine is a LGBTI+ arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the traditional lifestyles society may believe we’re supposed to lead. Its content is informed and insightful; featuring a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT+ readers learn a little about Sitges, their own heritage sustaining the connection between the present and the past, and to create a link with likeminded associations and municipal entities.
Gay Sitges Link se creó para hacer aportaciones a la comunidad ya sea en los ámbitos social, político, artístico o creativo y, en última instancia, ese es también el objetivo de la revista.
Gay Sites Link was created to nurture community, whether that be social, political, artistic or creative and ultimately it is also the goal of the magazine.

í, podemos afirmarlo, somos una fuerza tranquila de voluntarios que defendemos celosamente valores de tolerancia, de solidaridad y de dignidad. Representamos la comunidad LGTBI+ de Sitges para defender nuestros derechos y para generar espacios de relación y de intercambio. Cada miembro contribuye con su tiempo, deseos e intenciones con la voluntad de continuar fortaleciendo este proyecto compartido que es la asociación. Nuestro nuevo comité finalmente ha encontrado su ritmo, dejando de lado los egos individuales para formar una verdadera asociación, con el compromiso de hacerla crecer. Apreciamos y respetamos la cultura organizacional como un conjunto de hábitos y tradiciones, formas de entender, de comportarse y de relacionarse los unos con los otros, cosa que requiere determinación, paciencia, prudencia y constancia. Los que dirigen la organización deben emplear la sabiduría y medir las contribuciones de cada uno de los miembros del comité, aplicando sus recomendaciones para permitir a todo el grupo, al GSL vivo, una experiencia para aprender y promover el crecimiento personal y colectivo. Tenemos una identidad que es compartida pero también somos conscientes de que somos personas únicas con diferentes formas de pensar, deseos, estilos y expectativas, pero con un objetivo común. Este año, actividades deportivas como el voleibol de playa y los juegos de mesa se agregan a nuestra participación anual en eventos institucionales, algunos organizados conjuntamente con el Ayuntamiento. También nos ocupamos de la salud mediante la organización de grupos de apoyo para personas VIH positivas, talleres de PrEP y Chemsex, actividades de voluntariado en beneficio de personas mayores e intercambio de idiomas para mejorar el aprendizaje del español. Estamos incrementando nuestra participación en el ámbito de la seguridad escuchando las preocupaciones de los dueños de bares y restaurantes, reuniéndonos con la policía local y los Mossos d'Esquadra.
es, we can affirm, we are a quiet force of volunteers who zealously defend values of tolerance, solidarity and dignity. We represent the LGBTI+ community of Sitges and also defend our rights and create spaces of exchange and camaraderie. Each member contributes their time, wishes and intentions with the will to continue strengthening this shared project, which is the association. Our new committee has finally found its rhythm, leaving aside the ego of each individual to form a true association, with the commitment to make it grow. We appreciate and respect the organizational culture as a set of rules and traditions, ways of understanding, behaving and relating to one another, which requires determination, patience, prudence and perseverance. Those who govern the organization must use wisdom and measure the contributions of each of the committee members, enacting their recommendations which would allow the whole group, the living GSL, an experience for learning and promote both, personal and collective growth. We have an identity that is shared, while we are also aware that we are unique people with different ways of thinking, desires, styles and expectations, but with a common goal. Sports activities such as beach volleyball, and table games are added this year to our annual participation in institutional events, some organized jointly with the Ayuntamiento. We also take care of health by organizing support groups for HIV-positive people, PrEP and Chemsex workshops, have volunteer activities benefiting elderly people, and language exchanges to improve the learning of Spanish. We are increasing our involvement in terms of security, by listening to the concerns of bar and restaurant owners, meeting with the local police and the Mossos
d’Esquadra.

l curso entre febrero de 2018 y junio de 2019 ha supuesto para el comité de la asociación Gay Sitges Link un gran reto. La consecución por mantener el nivel de actividades con la colaboración de los nuevos componentes. Una tarea realizada con ilusión y trabajo para cubrir las expectativas que todo cambio conlleva. La nueva junta inició su gobierno después de unos años de bonanza en que la nave de GSL había sido conducida con mano firme y timón seguro por Martín Martín San Juan. La solución de una subsecuente copresidencia fue la opción más sencilla, dadas las circunstancias personales de los miembros de la junta. Cabe decir, con todas las de la ley, que la mayor parte de la programación anual y la puesta al día en las gestiones administrativas ha sido posible gracias a las acciones, la férrea voluntad y el trabajo de nuestro secretario, Pedro Martín Cumplido, sin él ninguno de los propósitos de nuestra asociación se hubiese llevado a cabo. Y muy probablemente la nave se habría hundido. El trabajo en conjunto del comité no ha sido fácil, pero mirando hacia atrás podemos considerar que hemos salvado el barco. Es más, nos hemos enriquecido con estas experiencias de nuestro viaje, hemos aprendido los unos de los otros, superando los escollos y los obstáculos. Además hemos ido recogiendo frutos y tesoros de esta expedición a través de un largo año de cabotaje. Los cambios son necesarios para conocernos mejor y deseables para optimizar las relaciones, bien sea con los propios socios y socias, bien con emprendedores y emprendedoras, bien con activistas culturales o con la Administración Pública. En nuestras manos está pedir una visión alternativa y una nueva perspectiva que recoja la diversidad y la diferencia. El título de la última película de Pedro Almodovar, “Dolor y gloria”, podría ser la metáfora y el resumen de un año de esfuerzo, complicado
he journey undertaken by the Gay Sitges Link between February 2018 and June 2019 has been a great challenge for the GSL association board committee. The achievement of maintaining the level of activities and collaboration with the new committee members—a task carried out with enthusiasm and effort to make changes and meet accompanying expectations. The new board began its governing after a few years in which the association had been steered with a firm hand and a safe rudder by incumbent GSL President, Martín Martín San Juan. The solution of creating a Co-presidency was the simplest option, given the personal circumstances of the board members. Truly, it must be said, that most of the annual programming and the updating of administrative procedures has been possible thanks to the actions, the will and the work of our secretary, Pedro Martín Cumplido, without him none of the aims of our association would have been carried out. And most likely the ship would have sunk. The work of the committee has not been easy but looking back, we can say that we kept the boat afloat. Mo-

We have also been collecting the fruits and treasures of this, our long maritime journey. The changes are necessary in order to know ourselves better and desirable for optimizing relationships, either with our associates, with entrepreneurs, cultural activists or with local public administrators. It is in our hands to ask for an alternate vision, a new perspective that reflects diversity. The title of Pedro Almodovar's last film, Dolor y Gloria (Pain and Glory), could also be a metaphor and summarize a year of effort, complicated in many respects, but in which we can say we have been victorious, despite suffering a few casualties. To our supporters, we ask you for voluntary involvement, active participation and collaboration if you are interested in the defense of LGBTI+ rights. Encouraged with the motto that has been bequeathed to us,

• Preservar el estatus de GSL como la asociación de referencia del colectivo LGBTI+ de Sitges. • Hacer seguimiento para conseguir nuestras demandas del decálogo ante las autoridades.
Aumentar la participación de socios y socias tanto en las actividades de la asociación como en el desarrollo de proyectos.

El colectivo LGBTI+ en Sitges es un colectivo grande y con necesidades diferentes a otros grupos. Con motivo de las elecciones municipales GSL elaboró una propuesta con diversas recomendaciones que hizo llegar a los diferentes partidos. La recomendaciones, tienen como objetivo reivindicar políticas para el colectivo y que las mismas se desarrollen desde el Ayuntamiento de Sitges, con el apoyo y la colaboración de las entidades y el colectivo LGBTI+ de Sitges.
The LGBTI+ collective in Sitges is a large collective with special needs different from other groups. On the occasion of the municipal elections GSL proposed diverse recommendations to the different political parties. The recommendations are aimed at establishing policies for the group to be developed by the Ayuntamiento de Sitges, with the support and collaboration of entities and the LGBTI+ collective of of Sitges.

l Centro LGTBI+ de Barcelona es el equipamiento de referencia en temática LGTBI+ (Lesbianas, Gais, Trans, Bisexuales e Intersexuales). La comunidad LGTBI+ y el resto de la ciudadanía disponen de un equipamiento público transversal desde el que se ofrece un amplio catálogo de servicios de información, orientación y atención directa, en coordinación con las entidades y las diferentes administraciones. Además, el Centro desarrolla un programa cultural, de acción comunitaria y sensibilización abierto a toda la sociedad, y que complementa las actividades que promueven las diversas entidades que hacen uso de este equipamiento de manera permanente o puntual. El Centro LGTBI+ de Barcelona se convierte, así, en un punto de encuentro, reflexión y visibilidad sobre la diversidad sexual y de género. El Centro trabaja por la defensa de los derechos LGTBI+ dando respuesta a los preceptos de la Ley 11/2014, al Plan Municipal por la Diversidad Sexual y de Género 2016-2020 y a otras normas relativas a la lucha contra la discriminación de las personas LGTBI+.

arcelona LGBTI+ Centre is the city’s reference space for issues concerning LGBTI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and intersex) people. The Centre offers the LGBTI+ community and all other citizens a transversal public facility that provides a wide range of information, advisory and direct assistance services, all in coordination with the relevant associations and organisations and the competent authorities. The LGBTI+ Centre also presents a cultural, community action and awareness-raising programme that is open to all citizens and complements the activities organised by the various associations that use its facilities, whether permanently or occasionally. All this makes Barcelona LGBTI+ Centre a place for meeting, thinking and highlighting issues related to sexual and gender diversity. The Centre works to defend LGBTI+ rights and the provisions established in Law 11/2014, the Municipal Plan for Sexual and Gender Diversity 2016-2020 and other legislation relevant to the fight to eradicate discrimination against LGBTI+ people.

019 is a year marking two very important events for the LGBT+ community. First and foremost, WorldPride which is being held in New York City this year commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots which took place on June 28th, back in 1969, at the Stonewall Inn Bar in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan. The event,although preceded by other earlier uprisings, setoff the first Pride parade and officiallystarted the gay civil rights movement.

l otro hito para nosotros es el décimo aniversario del Orgullo Gay de Sitges. El desfile conmemorativo se llevará a cabo el domingo 9 de junio a partir de las 17.00 a lo largo del paseo marítimo. Lo que fue y es principalmente
una celebración de Sitges por haber logrado muchos de los derechos por los que se sigue luchando en todo el mundo, en los últimos años ha incorporado asuntos políticos, reconociendo la larga lucha de la comunidad LGBTI+.

celebration of having achieved many of the rights still being fought for around the world. In recent years it has incorporated political elements—acknowledging the long-existing struggle of the LGBTI+ community.

Una biblioteca-museo LGBTI+ en
Sitges

Aquí encontramos un sueño, una esperanza o una sugerencia para un repositorio de una lucha humana. Sería más que una sección en una biblioteca. Podría ser un espacio educativo, o un lugar para guardar artefactos y arte creado desde una perspectiva LGBTI+. ¿No sería bueno para Sitges tener una institución social donde el conocimiento y las historias se comunicaran mediante la exhibición de literatura, textos, películas y objetos relevantes?
S
itges se ha erigido en un imaginario lleno de significado hacia los valores de tolerancia, convivencia y un paraíso gay posible dentro del ideario de la libertad sexual. La propuesta de un Museo-Biblioteca LGBTI+ en Sitges retendría historias y mantendría la naturaleza transgresora de los artistas que han poblado este paisaje, generación tras generación, decorándolo con sus pasiones ocultas; de hecho, las pasiones que necesitamos hoy para entender las contradicciones de los seres humanos y la diversidad de razas, tribus y familias que han encontrado en la ciudad un lugar para echar raíces y crecer sin impedimentos. Una de las vías para normalizar las diversidades afectivas y sexuales es hacerlas visibles: a través de las narrativas de las historias vividas, por medio de la explicación de experiencias dolorosas o mediante obras de arte y otros medios. Todas estas cosas preservan la memoria colectiva LGBTI+ en Sitges y por extensión, en el mundo occidental. La villa de Sitges ha mantenido encendida la antorcha de las libertades, al menos los últimos cincuenta años. El Festival Internacional de Teatro de Sitges realmente se consolidó en 1969 que también fue el año de la publicación de la novela de Terenci Moix, El día que murió Marilyn, una última mirada al verano, llena de adjetivos descriptivos y deseos medio dichos. El nombre de Sitges atravesó las fronteras convirtiéndose en la meca de los buscadores de placer sensual, "sand, sun and sex", siendo destino de los boys buscadores de un amor que no tiene nombre. Es una novela perfecta para estar en un museo-biblioteca LGTBI+.

En la calle del 1º de Mayo, a principios de la década de 1960, antes de que fuera conocida como La Calle del Pecado y antes de abrir la primera y mítica discoteca Pachá, Ricard Urgell abrió un local nocturno. Como consecuencia, la calle se convirtió en una arteria festiva, nocturna y en ocasiones, escandalosa, que ha contribuido a dar fama a Sitges como una ciudad turística acogedora y permisiva. De hecho, esta calle de Sitges es el escenario de algunos de los capítulos más significativos de la novela de Moix. Con el tiempo, Sitges absorbió el torrente de turistas y veraneantes que poco a poco se convirtieron en residentes, encantados por el embrujo de un pueblecito de pescadores venido a más por obra y arte de la burguesía barcelonesa y sus hijos más díscolos. La Biblioteca Museo LGBTI+, y su archivo, ofrecería también un programa de exposiciones que pondría al descubierto las luces y las sombras de este llamado mundialmente "paraíso de los maricones". Y nos ayuda a no aceptar el status quo, o dar un paso atrás o volvernos complacientes con respecto a la transmisión de la dignidad de las personas LGBTI+ que durante siglos han sido reprimidas por quienes tienen el poder. Sitges tiene una historia relacionada con la liberación sexual, libre de restricciones heteronormativas; donde en el pasado, la gente de teatro querían experimentar con sus cuerpos y transformar la sociedad con ideas, que parecían locas, perversas, brujería u otras clasificaciones que se han convertido en cliché. No obstante, sería prudente establecer una institución específicamente para preservar
esta rica historia y presentarla al público con propósito educativo y de disfrute. Por último, con avances como el paso de gigante dado en la legalización del matrimonio entre personas del mismo sexo, es necesario mantenernos firmes en la lucha si queremos lograr la aceptación universal de la homosexualidad. Sitges ha calado la mirada huidiza de los amantes sea cual sea su condición, ricos o pobres, hombres o mujeres, o de etnicidades híbridas, todos ellos reunidos aquí. Va siendo hora de dignificar la historia de la alegría de los amantes que se fusionan en un abrazo.
Nota de Visión Magazine: Hoy en día, a pesar del contenido LGBTI+ que podemos encontrar en las páginas de numerosas novelas y biografías disponibles en la Biblioteca Josep Roig i Raventós y en la Biblioteca Santiago Rusiñol, no existe una sección de LGBTI+ diferenciada en ninguna de ellas.

Here we have a dream, a hope or a suggestion for a repository of a human struggle. It would be more than a section in a library. It could be an educational space, or a place to hold artefacts and art created from an LGBTI+ perspective. Wouldn’t it be good for Sitges to have a social institution where such knowledge and histories are communicated through the display of literature, texts, relevant art and objects and films?
S
itges is thought of as being a place of tolerance, and sexual freedom, a gay paradise where people of all sexual persuasions coexist peacefully. The proposal of an LGBTI+ Museum & Library in Sitges would retain histories and maintain the transgressive nature of the artists, who have populated this landscape, generation by generation, decorating it with their hidden passions; indeed, passions we need today to understand the contradictions of human beings and the diversity of races, tribes and families who have found in the town a place to take root and grow without impediment. One of the ways to normalize diverse sexualities is to make them visible; through the narratives of lives, through the retelling of painful experiences or through works of art and other media.
All of these things retain the collective LGBTI+ memory in Sitges, and by extension in the western world. The town of Sitges has sustained the flame of the torch of freedoms, at the very least for over the last fifty years. The Sitges International Theatre Festival really gained fame in 1969 and it was also the year of the publication of Terenci Moix's novel, The Day Marilyn Died; it was a last glance at the summer, full of descriptive adjectives and barely expressed wishes. The name Sitges began to cross borders, and became a mecca for those seeking sensual pleasure, "sand, sun and sex" and was the destination for boys looking for the love that had no name. It is a perfect novel to be carried in an LGBTI+ Museum & Library. On Calle del 1º de Mayo in the early 1960s, before it was known as Sin Street,
(and before opening the first and mythic discotheque, Pachà) Ricard Urgell opened a nightlife venue. The street subsequently became a festive, nocturnal and sometimes scandalous artery, which has helped to give fame to Sitges as a welcoming and permissive resort town. In fact, this street in Sitges is the setting for some of the most significant chapters in Moix’s novel. Over time, Sitges absorbed the flow of tourists and holidaymakers who decided to settle and become residents, because they were enchanted by the spell of the small fisherman village, which became important due to the Barcelona bourgeoisie and their wayward gay sons. The LGBTI+ Museum & Library, with its archive, would also offer exhibitions and programmes that reveal the highs and lows of this so-called, world-famous

"paradise of faggots." And help us to not accept the status quo, take a step back, or become complacent in regard to forwarding the dignity of LGBTI+ people whom for centuries have been repressed by the those with power. Sitges has a history connected with the sexually liberated, free of heteronormative restraints; where in the past, people of the theatre wanted to experiment with their bodies and transform society with ideas, which seemed mad, perverse, bewitching or of other classifications that have become cliché. Nevertheless, establishing an institution specifically to preserve this rich history, and present it to the public for the purpose of education and enjoyment would be prudent… ultimately, with progress like the giant step made in the legalization of same-sex marriage, it is necessary to keep steadfast in the fight if we are to achieve universal acceptance of homosexuality. The town has always captured the attention of lovers regardless of who they are, rich or poor, man or woman, or of mixed ethnicities—all of them, here together. It is time to dignify the story of the joy of lovers who become one, in embrace.
Vision Note: Today, despite the LGBTI+ content found within the pages of numerous novels and biographies available at both the Biblioteca Josep Roig i Raventós and Biblioteca Santiago Rusiñol, there is no discernible LGBTI+ section in either library.

El grupo dominante de una sociedad determina aquellos valores que refuerzan su estatus dominante, los promueve como los únicos incuestionables y válidos y los impone hasta que son adoptados por el mosaico de subgrupos sociales minoritarios que tienden a reproducirlos, inconscientemente en muchos casos. Con respecto al grupo LGBTI+, quiero contribuir con algunas reflexiones sobre la reproducción de dos patrones del grupo social dominante que son objeto de debate interno en la comunidad: el olvido de los ancianos LGBTI+ y la transferencia del modelo de masculinidad.
acer caso omiso de los ancianos es una forma de edadismo (prejuicio negativo hacia las personas mayores por el simple hecho de serlo) muy presente en nuestra cultura. El capitalismo neoliberal no favorece a las personas mayores y las subestima porque supone que no son útiles en sus sistemas de producción. Como ejemplo de tal rechazo, hago referencia a las desafortunadas declaraciones de Christine Lagarde en 2012, que advierten que la longevidad es un "riesgo económico" porque las personas viven "más de lo esperado" y las del ministro japonés, Taro Aso, que en 2013 pidió a los ancianos japoneses que "se apresuren y mueran" para aliviar la carga fiscal de sus conciudadanos, generada por la atención médica que necesitan. Nuestra cultura occidental tiende a negar el envejecimiento y la muerte. Durante el siglo pasado, varios factores han estado contribuyendo aceleradamente a dicha negación: el aumento de la esperanza y la calidad de vida gracias a los avances científico-médicos, la promoción de imágenes de cuerpos perfectos en el mundo de la publicidad y el desarrollo de una impresionante industria farmacológico-cosmética que promueve una apariencia juvenil a toda costa. Los jóvenes se representan con todos los valores positivos y deseables que, por el contrario, parece que las personas mayores carecen.
La germinación de estos valores en el mundo gay ha encontrado un terreno fértil en una larga tradición de creatividad, en la literatura de Oscar Wilde, los poemas de Constantine Cavafy, los dibujos de Tom de Finlandia, en revistas como Physique Pictorial y en los modernos circuitos de ocio turístico gay. Además, la continua persecución, criminalización y demonización secular de los homosexuales despertaron el orgullo de la comunidad homosexual, que finalmente explotó en el bar Stonewall en 1969 y evolucionó a lo largo de años en manifestaciones y en desfiles anuales llenos de cuerpos hermosos. Incluso condujo, irónicamente, al activismo por los derechos civiles del culturista gay y Míster Universo 1983, Bob Paris. Gradualmente, creo que sin una intención específica, el mundo gay alimentó el estereotipo de la juventud guapa, divertida y obsesionada por consumir, que ha estado eclipsando la imagen de otra realidad de la comunidad: los ancianos y ancianas LGBTI+. A society’s dominant group determines those values that reinforce its dominant status, promotes only those values as unquestionable and valid; and imposes them until they are adopted by the minority social mosaic subgroups that tend to reproduce them, unconsciously in many cases. Regarding the LGBTI+ group, I want to contribute with a few thoughts about the reproduction of two pattern of the dominant social group that are the object of internal debate in the community: The forgetting of the LGBTI+ elders, and the transference of the masculinity model. The LGBTI+ Elders
T
o disregard elders is a form of ageism (negative prejudice towards older people by the mere fact of being older), yet very present in our culture. Neoliberal capitalism doesn’t favour older people and underestimates them because they assume not useful in their production systems. As examples of such rejection, I refer to the unfortunate statements of Christine Lagarde in 2012, warning that longevity is an "economic risk" because people live "longer than expected"; and those of Japanese Minister, Taro Aso, who in 2013, asked Japanese elders to "hurry up and die" in order to lighten the fiscal burden of their fellow citizens, which is generated by the medical care they need. Our western cultures tend to deny aging and death. Some factors during the last century that have been working rapidly to contribute to such denial–the increase of hope and quality of life by scientific-medical advances, the promotion of images of perfect bodies in the

world of advertising, and the development of an impressive pharmacological-cosmetic industry that promotes a youthful appearance at all cost. Young people are pictured with all the positive and desirable values that, on the contrary, elderly people seem to lack. The germination of these values in the gay world has found fertile ground in a long tradition in creativity, in literature by Oscar Wilde, poems by Constantine Cavafy, drawings by Tom of Finland, in magazines like Physique Pictorial, and in modern gay tourist leisure circuits. In addition, the continued persecution, criminalization and secular demonization of homosexuals instigated a communal homosexual pride, that finally exploded at the Stonewall bar in 1969 and evolved over years in demonstrations, and into annual parades full of beautiful bodies. It even led, ironically, to the civil-rights activism of gay bodybuilder and Mr. Universe 1983, Bob Paris. Gradually, I believe with no specific intention, the gay world nourished the stereotype of the handsome, funny and consumer-obsessed youth, which has been eclipsing the image of another reality of the community—the LGBTI+ elder. And I think that within the LGBTI+ community, it is possible to truly say that there is an invisibility to or very little visibility of older gay people and their sociological, psychological and health issues. Fortunately, from the very same community the fight has begun to build specific physical and social areas for the LGBT+ elders in order to give them a place and visibility, as well as dignify them as having needs, desires and value which contribute to society.

ste concepto se refiere a las normas culturales masculinas que pueden ser perjudiciales para los hombres, las mujeres y la sociedad en general. Algunos atributos sobresalientes que conforman el estereotipo de la masculinidad dominante son: coraje, independencia, asertividad, fuerza muscular, virilidad, ambición y confianza en sí mismo. Hay que decir que no se pretende demonizar estos atributos masculinos o a los hombres heterosexuales en conjunto, sino enfatizar los potenciales efectos perjudiciales de la conformidad con ciertos ideales masculinos tradicionales. Para atribuir este modelo de masculinidad a la comunidad gay es necesario establecer una equiparación con el del grupo masculino dominante. Eso supondría un elogioso intento de dignificar la cualidad de la masculinidad homosexual, que ha sido degradada moral, legal y psicológicamente a lo largo del tiempo. Sin embargo, el estereotipo de la masculinidad hegemónica (que legitima la posición dominante de los hombres en la sociedad) está tan internalizado que eclipsa cualquier otro modelo posible. Tanto es así que se filtra en discursos que aunque pretendan dignificar las masculinidades homosexuales, termina por distorsionarlos. No hace mucho, en FaceBook, una imagen de dos hombres se compartió ampliamente. En la foto estaban a punto de besarse y en la parte inferior había una cita que decía: "que tu homosexualidad no te haga perder tu masculinidad". A primera vista, parece defender la masculinidad de los hombres homosexuales, pero al mirar un poco más de cerca vemos que realmente perpetúa el modelo hegemónico de masculinidad. Lo hace simplemente representándolos vestidos como ejecutivos agresivos, una imagen estereotipada de masculinidad dominante, yuxtapuesta con el romanticismo del mismo sexo, comunicando así implícitamente que tenemos que vigilar nuestra homosexualidad para que no nos quite nuestra masculinidad. Las cosas no son siempre como parecen ... La masculinidad tóxica no respeta las expresiones individuales de ser hombre y esa implicación promueve la frustración: no

eres realmente un hombre si no te comportas como tal en un sentido tradicional. Seguir este statu quo, no siendo consciente de ello o no cuestionándolo, puede llevar a prejuicios lamentables como la sissifobia (el rechazo de los hombres homosexuales por parte de otros hombres homosexuales por ser afeminados). Por lo general, este fenómeno se detecta con facilidad en las aplicaciones de citas y de ligues de las redes sociales gay. Y tal prejuicio se justifica con excusas absurdas como "el estereotipo afeminado daña la imagen del colectivo gay" o "hace que los hombres gay sean considerados hombres de segunda clase". Debido a este tipo de fenómenos de autodesprecio, se está llevando a cabo un debate saludable dentro de la comunidad LGBTI+ que se refleja en múltiples artículos de revistas electrónicas y en las páginas web de dichas organizaciones. Poco a poco, el debate fomenta la autoobservación y la necesaria autocrítica, que ayudan a fomentar el respeto y la aceptación de modelos alternativos y más diversos de masculinidad.
Toxic Masculinity
T
his refers to cultural masculine norms that can be harmful to men, women, and society overall. Some outstanding attributes that shape the stereotype of dominant masculinity: courage, independence, assertiveness, muscular strength, virility, ambition, and self-confident.die" in order to lighten the fiscal burden of their fellow citizens, which is generated by the medical care they need. It needs to be said, that it is not intended to demonize these male attributes or all

straight men, but to emphasize the potential harmful effects of conformity to certain traditional masculine ideals. To attribute this model of masculinity to the gay community, we must attempt to equate it with males of the dominant group; which would be a praiseworthy attempt to dignify the quality of homosexual manhood, who has been morally, legally and psychologically degraded over time. The stereotype of hegemonic masculinity (which legitimizes powerful men's dominant position in society), however, is so internalized that it eclipses any other possible model. So much so that it filters into discourses although aimed at dignifying homosexual masculinities, ends up distorting them. Not long ago on FaceBook, an image of two men was widely shared. In the photo, they were about to kiss, and along the bottom a quote read, "your homosexuality does not make you lose your masculinity.” At first glance it seems to defend the masculinity of homosexual men, but looking a little closer, we see that it really perpetuates the hegemonic model of masculinity. It does so simply by depicting them power-dressed as executives—a stereotypical image of dominant masculinity, juxtaposed with same-sex romanticism, thus implicitly communicating that we have to monitor our homosexuality so that it does not take away our masculinity. Things are not always as they seem… Toxic masculinity does not respect individual expressions of being male; and the implication promotes frustration in that, you aren’t really a man if you don’t behave as one in the traditional sense. Following this status quo, by not being aware of it, or not questioning it can lead to regrettable prejudices such as sissyphobia— the rejection of gay men by other gay men for being effeminate. This is demonstrated commonly on gay social media “dating” or cruising apps. This prejudice is justified with foolish excuses such as "the effeminate stereotype harms the image of the gay collective" or that it, “makes gay men considered as second-class men." A healthy debate due to this type of selfloathing phenomena is taking place within the LGBTI+ community and is reflected in multiple online journal articles and on LGBTI+ organization websites. Little by little the debate encourages self-observation and necessary self-criticism which help build respect for, and acceptance of alternate, more diverse models of masculinity.

GBTQ. En el mundo de habla inglesa, la "Q" ha existido durante bastante tiempo. Pero no le ha ido bien fuera del mundo anglófono. Por ejemplo, en España, se han decidido por LBGTI, en un esfuerzo por expandir el anterior "LBGT". Entonces, cuál es el problema? El problema es que Q significa "queer". "Queer" solía significar simplemente "extraño", "peculiar" o "raro". Esa definición ciertamente no parece una etiqueta que nadie se quiera poner a sí mismo/a (este término lo usamos intencionalmente). Luego, para empeorar las cosas, "queer" comenzó a usarse como sinónimo de "marica". Así que para muchos (¿la mayoría?) hablantes de inglés, "queer" parecía una opción "rara" para ampliar el rango de etiquetas del mundo no hetero. Hoy en día, la palabra Queer es una apropiación desafiante y descarada del antiguo significado despectivo. Es inteligente, pero ambigua. De hecho, muchos han sido presionados para redefinir el término en este nuevo sentido. Durante décadas, "queer" se ha utilizado en círculos académicos para abarcar todas las categorías no tradicionales relacionadas con la sexualidad y el género. ¿Qué pasa si Queer fuera el término general para "cualquier cosa"? ¿O para "no es asunto tuyo"? Me gusta. Creo que podría estar bien para definir “sexualidad fluida de género” o “sexualidad indeterminada” o tal vez para cualquier otra categoría de los que se están cuestionando o prefieren no etiquetarse a sí mismos. Yo soy una de estas últimas. He sido vehementemente anti-etiquetas durante mucho tiempo. No me gustan las etiquetas de ninún tipo, ya que parece que se utilizadan a menudo para discriminar al "otro", sea quien sea el otro. Ni siquiera llevaría ropa que mostrara una etiqueta. Solo quiero que me vean como un ser humano de mente abierta, curioso y aventurero. ¿No es eso queer?

WHAT ABOUT THE
Q?
L
GBTQ. In the English-speaking world, the “Q” has been around for quite some time. But it hasn’t fared well outside the Anglophone world. For example, in Spain—they’ve settled on LBGTI instead, in an effort to expand the previous “LBGT”. So, what’s the problem? The problem is that Q means “queer”. “Queer” used to just mean “strange”, “peculiar” or “odd”. That definition certainly doesn’t seem like a label anyone wants put on them (this term we use intentionally). Then, to make matters worse, “queer” started being used as a synonym for “faggot”. So, even to many (most?) English speakers, “queer” seemed a “queer” choice of words to amplify the range of labels for the non-hetero world. The word Queer of today is a tonguein-cheek, defiant appropriation of the old derogatory meaning. It’s clever, but ambiguous. In fact, most are hard-pressed to define the term in this new sense. For decades “queer” has been used in academic circles to encompass all the non-traditional categories regarding sexuality and gender. Many universities have programmes of “Queer Studies”. But again for most people, the word simply became a synonym for “gay”. Maybe it’s time that we tackle the word Queer. There is clearly a trend to create more labels for the many categories differentiating people’s sexual and gender identities—so many it’s hard to keep up with them all. And they certainly can’t all be included in an acronym (as discussed in the last issue of
The Vision Magazine). What if Queer could be the catchall term for “whatever”? Or “none-ofyour-business”? I like this. I think it could suffice for gender-fluid or indeterminate sexuality or maybe any other category for those who are questioning or prefer not to label themselves. I am one of those latter. I have been strongly anti-label for a long time. I dislike labels of all kinds, as they seem to often be used to discriminate against the “other”, whoever the other may be. I won’t even wear clothes that display a label. I don’t want to identify with any brand. Even identifying with gender and sexuality categories, as well as ethnicities, races, nationalities, etc., often prevents us from expanding our horizons and growing as human beings. This discussion takes place in the context of the often heart-wrenching struggles of millions of people trying to find, explore, and navigate their identities. I feel comfortable with the Queer “label”, as it is really a non-label. Maybe that term has finally come into its own; it’s time for it now that we are discovering more categories. Wouldn’t it be a better world if no one cared what categories you fit into? Maybe you fit into lots of categories that are porous and can change from time to time or even from day to day, or maybe you feel you don’t fit into any of the categories. Is that anyone’s business but yours? Isn’t our goal as enlightened, progressive humans to be all the things we want to be and to constantly learn and widen our perspectives—not just in matters of gender and sexuality, but in all things— spiritual, political, cultural, psychological, intellectual?
I think labels hold us back. I don’t want to be in a box labeled: white, older, educated American woman from Texas living in Spain, with all the stereotypes that entails. I just want to be seen as an open-minded, curious and adventurous human being. Isn’t that Queer? 33

Como un hombre de verdad. Hago guacamole como un hombre, me cepillo los dientes como un hombre, escribo en el teclado como un hombre, hiervo el agua como un hombre y subo

la escalera mecánica en El Corte Inglés como un hombre. Y, debo admitir, hay algunas cosas que hago como homosexual. Sin duda hago café como una homosexual, uso el cajero automático como una homosexual y me siento en el autobús como una homosexual. Y todos los días, como un reloj, abro mi correo electrónico como un homosexual. No puedo evitarlo, simplemente sucede. Cada vez que recibo un nuevo mensaje en mi bandeja de entrada, la abro como un hombre homosexual. Debe ser genético. O profundamente psicológico. Quizás podría ser reprogramado. Tal vez podría curarme, para abrir mi correo como una lesbiana. Y tal vez, algún día, llorar como una chica. Here we have an article by someone who is self-assured, and unashamedly reminds us of our complexity as human beings. And being as such, points out that whomever society categorizes us to be— we are above identity labels. We all share (and display) attributes in varying degrees of what might be considered male, female and which fall within the beautiful LGBTI+ spectrum.

El disturbio de la cafetería de Compton. En agosto de 1966,
al parecer, la gerencia de la cafetería de Gene Compton no quería que se la conociera como un lugar de reunión nocturno para drag queens (recordemos que el travestismo era ilegal en ese momento), mujeres trans y chaperos. Aunque el área de Tenderloin de San Francisco es conocida por los clubes de sexo, las apuestas y las drogas, este tipo de clientela no era apreciada ni deseada. De vez en cuando se hacía una redada en el café, y sus comensales habituales eran acosados por hombres vestidos de azul: la policía. Pero esta redada terminó en un motín. Un motín memorable, tan grande que, de nuevo, la noche siguiente, más personas transgénero, chaperos y otros miembros de la comunidad LGBTI+ se unieron para protestar ante la cafetería, que no permitiría que las personas transgénero entraran. Esto fue un preludio (junto con el motín de Stonewall) del primer desfile del Orgullo de San Francisco, que tuvo lugar posteriormente en 1972.

El ataque al Xalapa. Tres se-
manas antes de la masacre en Orlando, se desarrolló una escena similar en un club gay en Xalapa, la capital del estado mexicano de Veracruz. Varios hombres armados entraron en el club nocturno La Madame el 22 de mayo de 2016, matando a 7 personas e hiriendo al menos a otras 12 después de disparar en un club repleto con unas 180 personas. Se podría argumentar que lo que provocó este ataque fue la firma, por el presidente mexicano Enrique Peña Nieto, de una reforma que abrió un camino para la legalización del matrimonio entre personas del mismo sexo en el país, pocos días antes del tiroteo. La misma reforma también permitió a los ciudadanos transgénero cambiar oficialmente su género en los certificados de nacimiento. Sin embargo, este evento no tuvo el mismo impacto en los medios de comunicación que el de Orlando, Florida.
La masacre en Orlando. El club nocturno Pulse fue el lugar del ataque más letal en suelo estadounidense desde el 9 de septiembre de 2011, y el peor crimen de odio contra la comunidad LGBTI+ de Estados Unidos jamás registrado. El 12 de junio de 2016, Omar Mateen, un estadounidense de 29 años, mató a 49 personas e hirió a otras 53 en un tiroteo en masa. Explosión de una bomba en el Pub Almirante Duncan. El 30 de
abril de 1999, en el epicentro LGBIT+ en el SoHo de Londres, 3 personas murieron y 81 resultaron heridas por una bomba de clavos lanzada al Pub Admiral Duncan en Old Compton Street. En este año 2019 se cumple el 20º aniversario del atentado.
Vandalismo en el centro LGBT+ en Barcelona. El 26 de
enero de 2019 la policía llegó a la calle Compte Borrell, 22. Descubrieron que la fachada del edificio estaba cubierta de graffitis que incluían amenazas de muerte y símbolos fascistas, y que sus ventanas principales estaban rotas. El ataque de odio provocó que decenas de personas de la localidad se manifestaran en acción proactiva, con mensajes de apoyo para la comunidad LGBTI+. La plataforma LGBT+.cat convocó una protesta fuera del edificio dos días después.
La lucha permanece. Permanece en la realidad de la desigualdad de los derechos civiles en muchos países, y se ve en el odio expresado en las paredes del centro cívico LGBTI+ Barcelona. The Compton's Cafeteria Riot.
Back in August 1966, apparently the management at Gene Compton's cafeteria didn't want it to be known as a late-night hangout for drag queens (remember cross-dressing was illegal at the time), trans-women and hustlers. Although the Tenderloin area of San Francisco is known for sex clubs, gambling, and drugs, this type of clientele was unappreciated and unwanted. Every so often the café was raided, and its frequent diners harassed by men dressed in blue—the police. But this ra id ended in a riot. A memorable riot, big enough that again, the next night, more transgender people, hustlers, and other members of the LGBTI+ community joined in a protest of the cafeteria, which would not allow transgender people back in. This was a prelude (with the Stonewall riot) to the first San Francisco Pride parade subsequently taking place in 1972.
The Stonewall Riots. According to
History.com, “In the early hours of June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club located in Greenwich Village in New York City. The raid sparked a riot among bar patrons and neighborhood residents as police roughly hauled employees and patrons out of the bar, leading to six days of protests and violent clashes with law enforcement outside the bar on Christopher Street, in neighboring streets and in nearby Christopher Park. The Stonewall Riots served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world.” The UpStairs Lounge Arson Attack. A fire set June 24, 1973 killed 32 people at a popular New Orleans, French Quarter gay bar called the UpStairs Lounge. The arsonist, who was never arrested by local authorities, was the largest mass murder of LGBT+ citizens in United States history until the Pulse nightclub massacre in 2016.
The Xalapa Attack. Three weeks before the massacre in Orlando, a similar scene unfolded at a gay club in Xalapa, the capital city of the Mexican state of Veracruz. Multiple armed men entered La Madame nightclub on May 22, 2016, killing 7 people and injuring at least 12 others after firing into a packed club of about 180… It could be argued that the signing of a reform which cleared a path

for the legalization of same-sex marriage in the country, just a few days before the shooting, by Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, sparked this attack. The same reform also allowed transgender citizens to officially change their gender on birth certificates. This event however, did not have the same impact in the media as the one in Orlando, Florida.
The Orlando Massacre. The Pulse
nightclub was the site of the deadliest attack on US soil since September 9, 2011 terrorist attacks, and the worst hate crime against America’s LGBTI+ community ever recorded. On June 12, 2016, Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old American, killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in a mass shooting.
The Admiral Duncan Pub Bombing. On April 30, 1999 in the
LGBT+ epicenter in SoHo London, 3 people were killed and 81 injured by a nail-bomb targeting the Admiral Duncan Pub on Old Compton Street. This year 2019, also marks the 20th anniversary of the bombing.
The Vandalism of the LGBTI+ Centre in Barcelona. On
January 26, 2019 the police arrived at 22 Borrell street. They found that the building's facade was covered in graffiti including death threats and fascist symbols, with its main windows broken. The hateful attack sparked dozens of local people into positive action— with messages of support for the LGBTI+ community. The LGTBI.+Cat platform called for a protest outside the building two days later.
The struggle remains. It remains in the reality of civil rights inequality in many countries, and it’s seen in the hate expressed on the walls of the LGBTI+ Barcelona civic centre. If we look closer we experience it within our own LGBTI+ community and sometimes we struggle within ourselves.

n el número de la revista GSLVisión del año pasado, el columnista Juan Carlos Uríszar nos rememoró una manifestación que el FAGC (Front d’Alliberament Gay de Catalunya) organizó en 1977. Era la primera manifestación contra la “Ley de peligrosidad y rehabilitación social”. Fue la semilla que floreció en posteriores protestas llevando un fuerte mensaje de igualdad al tiempo que los manifestantes demandaban sus derechos civiles. El 26 de junio de aquel año unas cuatro mil personas se manifestaron en La Rambla de Barcelona. Esta manifestación por la libertad sexual y de género movilizó a gais, lesbianas, trans y a muchas otras personas jóvenes y solidarias, que se sumaron a este primer gran acto de visibilidad LGBTI+ en todo el Estado español. Esta manifestación pública era ilegal en aquel momento ya que estaba vigente la Ley de Peligrosidad Social, que perseguía y encarcelaba a personas LGBTI+.

n last year’s issue of the GSL-Vision magazine, columnist, Juan Carlos Uríszar reminded us of a march back in 1977, organized by the FAGC (Front d’Alliberament Gay de Catalunya). It was the first march against the "Law for Social Jeopardy and Social Rehabilitation”. This was the seed, which bloomed into later protests, having a strong message of equality while protesters demanded their civil rights. On the 26th of June that year, around four thousand people demonstrated on La Rambla in Barcelona. The demonstration in favour of sexual and gender freedom mobilised gays, lesbians, transgender and many other young people showing solidarity, coming together for this first great LGBTI+ event in Spain. The public display was illegal at that time, under the Social Danger Act, which was pursued and led to the imprisonment of many LGBTI+ people. n abril de este año, Brunei introdujo estrictas leyes islámicas de la Sharia, lo que significa que el sexo gay y el adulterio son punibles con la muerte. El pequeño país asiático, rico en petróleo, tiene una población de 420,000 personas, dos tercios de los cuales son musulmanes. La ley de la Sharia es un código de conducta que regula todos los aspectos de la vida de un musulmán. Se deriva del Corán (texto central del Islam) y de los dictámenes de los eruditos del Islam, conocidos como fatwas; y es la base del sistema legal islámico. Los expertos en estudios islámicos han advertido a los líderes totalitarios sobre los peligros de aplicar literalmente la Ley de la Sharia fuera del contexto en el que fue escrita. Aunque la homosexualidad era ilegal en el país y podía acabar en una pena de hasta 10 años de prisión, hasta abril no se habían llevado a cabo ejecuciones en Brunei desde 1957. n April of this year, Brunei introduced strict Islamic, Sharia laws, which will mean gay sex and adultery are punishable by death. The small, oil-rich Asian country has a population of 420,000 people, two-thirds of whom are Muslim. Sharia law is a code of conduct for all aspects of a Muslim's life. It is derived from the Koran (Islam's central text) and the rulings of Islamic scholars, known as fatwas; and is the basis of Islam's legal system. Experts in Islamic studies warn totalitarian leaders of the dangers in literally applying Sharia Law outside of the context in which it was written. Up until April, although homosexuality was illegal in the country and could result in a punishment of up to 10 years in prison, no executions had been carried out in Brunei since 1957. To date, following an international uproar—the boycotting of the sultan's luxury hotels around the world, and the refusal of travel companies to promote Brunei as a tourist destination—the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah says Brunei will not enforce the death penalty and has yet to revoke the law.

lgo asombroso ha sucedido. Durante más de treinta años, los hombres homosexuales han vivido con el temor de contraer el VIH, el virus que puede llevar al SIDA a una persona infectada. Muchos hombres gays han optado por excluir activamente a los hombres gays VIH positivos de sus vidas sexuales. No es raro ver en los perfiles de la aplicación de citas gay "buscando VIH-ve", esto ha ayudado a contribuir al estigma que sienten a diario la mayoría de las personas que viven con VIH. Este mismo estigma detiene a las personas que buscan ayuda e información y les impide hacer pruebas médicas del VIH. Desde 1996, se sabe que los medicamentos antirretrovirales para el VIH detienen la replicación del virus y permiten que la mayoría de las personas con VIH tengan vidas largas y saludables. omething amazing has happened. For over thirty years gay men have lived in fear of contracting HIV, the virus than can go on to give an infected person AIDS. Many gay men have chosen to actively exclude HIV Positive gay men from their sex lives. It is not uncommon to see on gay dating app profiles “seeking HIV-ve” this has helped contribute to the stigma that most people living with HIV feel on a daily basis. This same stigma stops people seeking help and information and stops them testing for HIV. Since 1996, it has been known that HIV antiretroviral medication stops the replication of the virus and allows most people with HIV to live long and healthy lives. But now, research has shown us that this treatment is so effective that a person who takes their medication regularly and achieves an undetectable viral load (the measurement of virus in the blood) is not capable of transmitting the virus. That’s right—completely unable to pass it on during sex, either actively or passively without using a condom! How can we be so sure? In 2008 the first signs of this breakthrough appeared in the scientific press with the “Swiss Statement”. HIV specialists had looked back at transmission rates and modes of transmission and found that there had been no HIV transmissions between heterosexual partners where the positive partner had been on medication. They felt confident in saying that heterosexual couples who had an undetectable viral load and no other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) could not pass on the virus. Many doctors where skeptical of this and did not want to endorse it. Importantly for gay men, it did not mention them, and in addition, gay men have higher rates of STIs. However, there was something here worth investigating so the PARTNER study was set up to look at condomless sex in serodiscordant couples (where one person is HIV positive and the other partner is HIV negative). The study recruited participants to see how many serodiscordant couples became seroconcordant (that

So is everything now rosy in the HIV garden? No, as more and more people stop using condoms, STIs have dramatically increased. And HIV “negative” people still discriminate against HIV positive people. I have seen no decrease in people actively searching out HIV negative guys and rejecting honest guys who tell people they are HIV positive, on medication and so of absolutely no risk. The time has definitely come to change the way we think about HIV and how we protect ourselves from it. As well as U=U, or Treatment as Prevention, there is also PEP and PrEP. Personally, I no longer call myself HIV positive. I am now HIV undetectable or HIVU So please if your profile states you are looking for an HIV negative person, do yourself a favour, delete it and start looking for HIVU people.

M
antener un diálogo honesto y abierto requiere de cada uno de nosotros la voluntad de de escuchar, de intentar entender y de tener consideración hacia los individuos, las percepciones e interpretaciones que pueden desafiar e incluso poner en conflicto alguna de nuestras creencias personales. Mostrar respeto hacia los otros, sean individuos o grupos, incluso si estamos profundamente en desacuerdo con las ideas y opiniones que manifiestan y creen, de forma que las diferencias expresadas no den lugar a división. También necesitamos reconocer que algunas conductas y costumbres personales pueden implicar reaprender ciertas creencias personales y percepciones de otros. Como individuos, cada uno de nosotros debería estar dispuesto a ir más allá de las palabras e implicarse en la acción.

ualquier proyecto o evento la asociación tiene que cubrir sus propios gastos y, si es posible, generar fondos que ayuden al presupuesto anual. Es por esto que durante los últimos doce meses hemos sido muy conscientes de controlar nuestros gastos y, simultáneamente, buscar vías de autofinanciación. GSL se mantiene y mantiene su independencia gracias a las donaciones de sus miembros, de particulares y de empresas. This is why during the last twelve months we’ve been very conscious about both controlling our expenses and seeking ways to finance ourselves. GSL is maintained and maintains its independence thanks to donations from its members, from individuals and companies.
