CELEBRATING 22 YEARS OF OUT ON THE SLOPES... Born out of activism in 1992 Whistler remembers its roots and continues to evolve and balance celebration with safe welcoming spaces for the LGBT community to come together from around the world.

HISTORY Whistler’s Gay Ski week was created in 1992 under protest when Colorado passed legislation (Amendment 2) which empowered the people to discriminate based on a person’s sexual orientation. The resort of Whistler welcomed guests from all over the world with open arms treating everyone with the same amount of respect and dignity regardless of sexual orientation or ski/snowboard preference. Whistler embraces diversity and celebrates inclusivity. Over the past 20 years the annual gay & lesbian ski week continues to evolve keeping the festival fresh, exciting and

relevant attracting on average 3,000+ guests annually from 26 nations. Over the past seven years WinterPRIDE has included culinary, health & wellness, education and sports as part of the four festival pillars setting it apart from other similar events. The annual Pride event is also an important source of funding to our key charities including: Rainbow Refugee; Qmunity - BC’s Queer resource Centre and the various non profit LGBT sports clubs. WinterPRIDE has become one of the largest and most popular Gay Ski events in the world. It was also the producer of the first Olympic Pride House during the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Games in Vancouver/Whistler.

Festival Experience WinterPRIDE is known around the world as the friendly Gay & Lesbian Ski/Snowboard

week. Every day during the festival will lead complimentary ski/snowboard guiding over the 8,171 acres of pure skiing bliss by grouping like skier/riders with trained guides to ensure everyone has a great time. This allows festival guests to meet new people with similar passions and skill abilities in a safe and welcoming environment. Average skier visits for the entire resort is approximately 14,000 skiers/day. The festival offers designated group lunch daily both on the mountain for the skiers as well as in the resort for the non-skiers. One of the most popular activities is the infamous “Après Ski” where everyone comes together and recounts the day’s adventures! Each night there are two designated restaurants for the Dine-Out where the WinterPRIDE guests can continue to socialize and plan the week ahead. After dinner there is are early evening dance club events with each night having a different theme all culminating to the grand finale dance party - Snowball on Saturday night. Other activities include: Culinary experiences, wellness retreats, dog sledding, inner tubing, luge, Nordic skiing, snowmobiling and more!
