Safety First

T

he OABA circle of excellence is an award that is given to the shows noted for safety, cleanliness, appearance, and quality of operations. Powers Great American Midways received one of the highest ratings from all the shows in North America. As technology introduces more excitement and thrills into rides, safety becomes all the more important. Before anyone enters the midway, all rides have been through stringent safety checks and must meet all safety regulations. The State of North Carolina requires all rides to be inspected every time they are moved, construction and stability are a must. Any modifications to the rides have to comply with the manufacturers safety requirements and are strictly enforced by the inspectors. These inspections take place the moment the rides are unloaded onto the midway and on a daily basis to ensure safety throughout our ten day event. Brakes, speed accelerators, padding, safety bars and control devices are inspected and a daily record must be filed. When rides pass all the safety requirements they get the “all clear to operate. So to ensure your safety, smiles and enjoyment, all rides are kept under the watchful eye of the inspectors. Bring the Family and Enjoy the Fun of the Fair!!
