Anthony Dwayne Lee departed this life rejoicing peacefully and went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family and love ones on Monday, May 24, 2021 at approximately 7:15 a.m. He was born in Newport News, VA on April 7, 1960 to Leroy C. Lee, Jr (deceased) and Mattie A. Lee. He was a resident of Hampton, VA. Anthony was baptized and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Newport News, VA. Anthony graduated in 1978 from Hampton High School located in Hampton, VA. He enlisted in the US Army and served our great county as a Medical Specialist from 1978 to 1985. He received an Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies/Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology degree from Thomas Nelson Community College on May 12, 2016. As an entrepreneur, Anthony was self-employed in construction and the roofing industry. To know Anthony was to love him. He was a gentle giant, the sunshine on a cloudy day, a hero for our dreamers and simply put the heartbeat of an achievable dream. He leaves a void in the Hampton community. He loved family gatherings, fine dining, youth/children, music, travel, sports and entertainment. Anthony was an avid Washington Football Team (formally known as the Redskins) fan. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing as well as harvesting clams and oysters on the North Carolina coastline. Oh, by the way Anthony is well known for dancing by himself in his own hilarious way. Anthony is preceded in death by his father, Leroy C. Lee, Jr. and a brother, Ronald C. Lee. He is survived by his brothers, sisters and their spouses, Cathy G. Lee-Sellers (Orlando), Cary L. Lee, Rosaire J. Holland (Reginald) and Leroy C. Lee, III (Sheilla). Left to cherish his memory are his nieces Jessica S. Lee-Washington (Byrena), Brittany Lee, Sarah Lee, Tamara Lee, Brandalynn Holland, Tiffany Lee, his nephews, Collier Gumby and Reginald Holland, III, a great-niece Palmer Washington as well as a host of aunts, uncles and beloved cousins. He will be forever remembered by his former wife, Daphne Lee and her daughter, Shikira.

Family and Friends

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers that we saw sitting there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts we thank you so much for whatever part. The family wishes to thank everyone for your calls, prayers, kind words and condolences as we celebrate the life and legacy of our son and brother during this time of loss. We deeply appreciate your expression of sympathy, your thoughtfulness, all the love and prayers sent our way. Special appreciation is exteded to Pastor Dwight Riddick and Gethsemane Baptist Church and Staff; C.C. Carter Funeral Home; and Hampton Memorial Gardens.
