Ada Connie Lee, was born to the late Theodore & Ada Jenkins on December 8, 1939. On January 23, 2021, Connie peacefully transitioned in her sleep after living with Alzheimer’s Disease for many years. Growing up, Connie enjoyed learning, honorably graduating from George Washington Carver High School. She later graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business from Peninsula Business College, Newport News, class of 1968. Shortly after graduating she was employed at Langley Air Force Base, retiring in 1995. Connie met and fell in love with Oakley T. Bailey Jr after being introduced to him by her brother Douglas. They married and successfully raised 4 children, Beverly, Sharon, Tommy and Dana. Connie and Bubba were completely devoted to each other throughout their marriage until his death in June, 2016. Connie had a real passion for gardening. She spent many tireless hours year after year beautifying her own yard and helping others to do the same. She was also a fantastic cook, tantalizing friends and family with homemade rolls and her specialty sausage roll among other things. She was a classy dresser, accentuating her outfits with beautiful scarves and pins. Accepting Christ at a young age, Connie and Bubba were longtime members of Trinity Baptist Church in Newport News. There she served as a Deaconess and as choir member. After leaving Trinity Baptist Church, Connie and Bubba joined the Macedona Baptist Church in Newport News where Reverend John Wilson is the Senior Pastor. Connie was also a Deaconess there and her husband, Rev. Bailey (Bubba) served as an associate minister there. Connie’s devoted husband, Bubba, preceded her in death after over 50 years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory, their four children Beverly Bailey, Dr. Sharon B. Hopkins (Henry), Oakley T. Bailey III (Tommy) and Dana Jones; Four loving, caring and devoted grandchildren, Alyssia Jones, Kimberly Rosa (Revello), Courtney Bailey and Hailey Hopkins; Three siblings, Pearl Smith, Henrietta Thompson and William George a.k.a “W.G.” ; a special best friend Ellen Stewart, three sisters-in-love, Aleathia Brown, Jean Richardson and Gladys Jones (Randolph) and a host of adoring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Clarence, Jack, Sam, Douglas and Roland Jenkins and sister, Madeline Williams.
