began at Zion Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. Later he became a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, VA. Gerald enjoyed spending quality time with his family, (with him always but the jokester), watching Westerns and sports on television, walking the beach, and attending church. Everywhere he went he left a lasting impression. Gerald is preceded in death by both parents John and Inez Small, and siblings, John, Gerald Andrew Small was born December Frank, Gary, Peter, Malcolm, and Sonja 31, 1948, in Hampton, Virginia to John and Rae. Inez Small. He gained his wings on September 16, 2021, at Sentara Norfolk General He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, at the tender years, Denise Small; sons, Kevin Rogers, and age of 72. Some called him “Beast” due to his Gerald Small; daughter, Shana McKithean athletic abilities in football, as well as, track (Mario); and honorary son, Antonio Rogers. and field. He attended Phenix High School in He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Hampton, Virginia, graduated class of 1968. Gernisha, Donte, Donye, Kevin, Jr., Dshante, After graduation he attended Norfolk State Devonte, Malik, Kareem, Shakeyna, and University for two years, before deciding Victoria; four great grandchildren, Marley, to take another path by joining the United Nahyla, Nahzier, and Karter; siblings, States Marine Corps. He was employed at the Cynthia Pollard, William Small, and Sandra Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Hampton Mills; sister in laws, Evelyn Small, Barbara City Schools, and Gourmet Services at Small, Janet Small, and Jacqueline Futrell; Hampton University. His faith journey and a host of nieces, and nephews.

We the family would like to thank those who have comforted us during this time with your many expressions of love, generosity, and prayer. May Gods blessings be upon each and every one of you. We would also like to sincerely thank all the staff at DaVita Butler Farm Dialysis for their compassionate care, and expertise for 24 years. You all provided his lifeline. The family would also like to thank Reliance Transportation for their services for the last 3 ½ years to and from dialysis. We appreciate the part all of you played in his journey.
