Nathan Ruben Davis born on February 15, 1948, in Newport News, Virgina departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2023. Nathan was surrounded by family during this time. Nathan was a man of God and made sure to tell you about the Lord when he spoke with you.
Nathan worked at the V. A. Hospital in which he gave 30 years and retired in 2007. Nathan worked to provide for his family, and always reminded us to work hard. While there he met his gorgeous soon to be wife. After dating, Nathan and Geraldine married in 1984, in which produced one son Jonathan Davis. Mr. Davis loved his two grandchildren, Alexis and Avionna Davis. He often talked about memories he had with his babies.
Nathan loved to travel with his sweetheart, and he also enjoyed sponsoring trips for their friends and family. They traveled near and far to such places as Cape Cod, Key West, Missouri, South Carolina, Chicago and the Bahamas just to name a few. Nathan loved a good movie, and spent time taking his bride on movie trips, dinner dates and to the beach. He enjoyed watching football, he always cheered for his team the Minnesota Vikings. Mr. Davis enjoyed eating good home cooked meals, especially fried fish sandwiches. Any time you told Mr. Davis about a meal that consisted of seafood, he always said “That we were eating High on the Hog”. Though tall in stature, his soft quiet persona was a strong presence in his family, amongst his friends and church family.
Mr. Davis always reminded us of how good God was to him, even in sickness. He was a longtime member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was ordained as a Deacon and faithfully served the congregation . He was active in Sunday School, the Guardian Angels Security Ministry, Bible Study and the Men’s Ministry. Nathan served as a 32nd degree Mason at Jeremiah Lodge 151 for over 40 years. He sponsored such events as dances, football trips, raffles and community giveaways.
Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Laura Davis; and brother, Daniel Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and dedicated wife of 39 years, Deaconess Emeritus Geraldine Davis; Loving Son, Jonathan (Christina); Two beautiful granddaughters, Alexis and Avionna Davis; One brother, two brothers in law and three sisters in law.
