Ruth Mae Davis Faulk heard the call of Jesus to receive her heavenly reward on Friday, June 3, 2022. She was born on July 9, 1943 in Clio, South Carolina to the late James Allen “Pete” and Lula Mae Davis. She was the second to the youngest of 4 children. She was educated in the Clio South Carolina and graduated in 1962 from Lincoln High School. In 1963, she relocated to Newport News, VA to work and advance her life as young woman. She furthered her education at Anthony’s Barber College and began a career as a cosmetologist. In the 1970’s, Ruth moved to Brooklyn, New York. While in New York, she owned and operated numerous hair salons and a restaurant. She later came back to her Virginia home where she opened another hair salon. She was a true servant. She met a unique need in the community and became a traveling personal hair stylist for so many. Ruth enjoyed life. She was kind hearted and enjoyed laughing and placing smiles on the faces of those she came in contact with. She loved music to include R&B and Gospel. Her favorite musical artist was Sam Cooke. She was an all around woman, who enjoyed sewing, walking, fishing, and wearing hats. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized at St. Peter’s A.M.E. Zion Church in Clio, South Carolina. She connected with Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, VA where she
was actively involved in ministry. She served with the Samaritan (Nurses) ministry, Ushering Ministry (H.U.G. Ministry), Music Ministry and any ministry that needed a helping hand. She was devoted to learning God’s word and attended bible study, Sunday school and worship weekly. She recently participated with the prayer ministry where she would always encourage the prayer teams to keep praying because prayer works. Ruth lived her life to please God. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Everyday she would encourage others through greeting cards, small acts of kindness and text messages. Her life is a testament to the grace and mercy of God’s love. Ruth was greeted in heaven by her parents and siblings, James Allen Davis, Fannie Mae Graham. Left to cherish fond memories is her husband, Robert Faulk,of the home, two sons, Ronelle (Lesley) Robinson Watts, Jr. and Patrick (Celeste) Lopez Watts all of Hampton,VA; a brother, Rubin (Theadra) Gibson Davis of Detroit, MI; one grandchild, an aunt, Margaret McCrimmon-McCloud of Bennetsville, SC; two brother in laws, Edward Faulk of Hampton, VA and William Billy Graham of Columbia, SC; two sister in laws, Ann Elizabeth Faulk of Washington, DC, Charlene Davis of Floral Park, NY; long Time friends, Betty Jacobs and Johnny Dorsey of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
