Our beloved, Ruth “Ruthie” Hampton Womack was called home January 16, 2021. Ruthie was born on June 21st, 1959 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Alvin & Pollether Hampton, Sr. Ruth attended Warwick High School and graduated with the class of 1977. After graduation she attended Thomas Nelson Community College. She worked for the Department of Defense as a Army Support Tech and a trainer. Ruthie, as she was affectionatley called, was such a caring person. She truly loved God and her family. She was the glue that kept everyone together. As the peacekeeper of the family, Ruthie often made sure disputes were quickly resolved. She was a queen, the boss, and knew what she wanted, how she wanted it and demanded it to be done her way. She definitely had a way with words. She loved people and would converse with anyone. She had a special place in her heart for young girls and often served a mentor. She volunteered her time as a Girl Scout Troop leader and enjoyed teaching life lessons and how to cook. He smile was bright and will be missed by all who knew her. Her homecoming was preceded by her mother and father; her husband of 27 years, Ronnie Womack, Sr.; oldest brother, William T. Banks, Jr.; both sisters, Joyce “Babysis” Eaton and Cheryl Hampton. Fondest memories of her life will be missed by her sons, Ronnie Womack Jr( Brandi) and Rashad Womack(Victoria), her remaining brothers, William Hughes(Betty) and Alvin Hampton, Jr.(Avis), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and her Honorary daughter, Jakita and Goodson(Alonso).

Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair; Perhaps you sent a floral spray, if so, we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words as any friend could say; Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, We thank you so much, whatever your part.
