Vivian Felecia Holmes Moses, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on December 19, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy. Born on July 19, 1959, in Ft. Worth, TX, she was the cherished daughter of the late Vivian W. Holmes and Felix Holmes. Vivian’s journey of faith began at Antioch Baptist Church in Hampton, VA, where she was baptized. Later, she became a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, VA, where she served faithfully. Educated at Pembroke High School, Fayetteville State University, and Old Dominion University, Vivian excelled academically, earning a Masters in Education. She dedicated her professional life to shaping young minds as a special education teacher, serving in both Hillsborough Community College, the Hampton City Schools and Newport News City Schools, where she retired. After retirement, Vivian ventured into entrepreneurship, founding “Head 2 Toe Ladies Hats and Shoes” , “Trylogy Educational Services” and “Genesis Computer Repair.” Her entrepreneurial spirit showcased her resilience and determination to embrace new challenges. Vivian was an active member of her community, participating in the Sisters Who Read (SWR) Book Club and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Her passion for literature, community engagement, and sisterhood reflected her commitment to making a positive impact. Known for her infectious laughter, love of dance, and the ability to master the electric slide to any tune, Vivian embraced life with zest. She found joy in outdoor concerts, cherished jazz music, and basked in the warmth of the sun. A dedicated woman of faith, she was passionate about leading others to Christ and believed that “Life is for the living.” Her enduring patience, selflessness, and non-judgmental listening ear made her a pillar of strength for those around her. Vivian’s love knew no bounds, particularly for her family, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and former husband and friend, Anthony C. Moses. She is survived by her loving daughter Avian Moses Deans (Donte); grandchildren, Avery Moses, Aubrey Moses, Donte Deans, Jr., and Jaliyah Deans; siblings, Anthony Holmes, Michael Holmes (Anna), Steven Holmes (Mary), Rochelle Yarborough (Otha); nieces and nephews, Micheal, Shayla, Danielle, Adrian, Deloris, Aaron, Christian, Ty and Stevie; and a host of relatives and friends.
