From the Director
We are excited to kick off another great season of programs and events. We’re happy to be able to offer more in-person activities and it is inspiring to see more people participating in and enjoying safe recreation experiences.
We have all faced many challenges over the past year and I would like to recognize the amazing Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture staff for continuing to serve our community during this time. Our staff experienced many new roles. They learned virtual programming and events, provided essential worker summer camps, supported virtual learning through the school year with Study Bubble programs, provided much needed meals to our most vulnerable residents, and much, much more.
National data shows that park usage increased by over 50% since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Public Works Parks Maintenance staff worked throughout the pandemic, arriving early, staying late and making sure our recreational spaces were clean, safe and ready for all to enjoy.
I hope you will join me in recognizing the hard work and dedication of these and all City of Gaithersburg staff as they continue to focus on serving our community. Our highest priority is to continue offering events, programs and access to facilities in the safest manner possible given the current health and safety guidelines.
Please enjoy this fall Go! Gaithersburg Guide, which is filled with wonderful opportunities for all ages to move, play and grow!
