HIGHLIGHTS: COLLEGE SUCCESSES

• Guilford College was named one of five institutions in the Greensboro area to participate in Partnerships for Listening and Action by Communities and Educators. The initiative is a Bringing Theory to Practice project that’s being supported by a two-year, $800,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to the Association of American Colleges and Universities.

• The Guilfordian, Guilford College’s student newspaper, received seven “Small Campus” awards from the N.C. College Media Association at the 2019 Statewide College Media Awards.

• Hege Library and Learning Technologies was awarded a Library Services and Technology grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services for $48,158 to advance the Mobile Edge, an initiative reimagining and expanding digital media services for enhanced mobility.

• The College’s Marketing Department won five accolades for exceptional 2019 work from the Collegiate Advertising Awards.

• Guilford was recognized this year in six categories by the 35th annual Educational Advertising Awards, presented by Higher Education Marketing Report, the nation’s leading marketing publication for higher education professionals.

• Guilford received four 2020 District III CASE Awards.

• The Edward M. Armfield Sr. Foundation of Greensboro awarded the College an $800,000 grant in support of improvements to the Hege-Cox Art Building and for the implementation of the Guilford Edge.

• The Education Studies Department celebrated a 100 percent pass rate for students taking the edTPA, a required, performance-based, subject-specific assessment used to measure and support the skills and knowledge that all teachers need in the classroom.

• Guilford College joined more than 110 colleges and universities from across the country in signing an amicus brief supporting the continued existence of Optional Practical Training and the STEM OPT expansion.

• The Office of Global and Off-Campus Initiatives was awarded the 2020 N.C. Association of International Educators Institutional Excellence in International Education Award, and University Magazine recently named Guilford College second in the nation as one of the Best Colleges for Study Abroad.

• Guilford College ranked fourth in the Food Organics category and 16th in the Per Capita Classic in the 2020 RecycleMania competition.

• The Bonner Center for Community Service and Learning Mobile Oasis program received $50,000 in funding from the Veggie Van project through the University of Buffalo.
