DARRIN
HANCOCK In 1990, an Alabama kid made a big splash in Garden City. But before that, the nation’s top high school prospect, signed with Jerry Tarkanian and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. That’s when fate intervened. Hancock failed to qualify through the NCAA Clearinghouse, meaning he had to take his talents elsewhere. That led him instead to enroll at Garden City Community College, where he could officially become eligible to transfer to another university after completing his coursework. Hancock wasted no time getting adjusted to the Jayhawk Conference, averaging 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals per game as a freshman, earning his third straight Parade All-American selection, while landing on the JUCO All-American third team. As a sophomore, Hancock was even better, bumping his average to nearly 22 points and 12 rebounds per game. He turned heads with his 37-point, 14-rebound, 10 assist triple double vs. Barton. And by season’s end, Hancock was named the 1991-92 NJCAA Player of the Year. Four-year schools took notice, and following his sophomore campaign, Hancock transferred to the University of Kansas. In 1993, the junior helped the Jayhawks capture the Big Eight regular-season crown, earning the second seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks dominated, making it all the way to the Final Four before falling to North Carolina. After the ‘93 season, Hancock left Kansas, eventually transferring to Indiana State. But he never played there, and instead, spent a season overseas before being taken by the Charlotte Hornets in the second round of the 1994 NBA Draft. Hancock spent four years in the NBA, playing for the Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hakws and San Antonio Spurs.
7
Hancock still holds the Garden City program record for most points scored over two seasons (1,180).

Patrick Nee enters his second season as the Head Coach for Garden City. Before taking over the top spot, he served as an assistant coach under Brady Trenkle in 2017-2018. That year, the Broncbusters made a strong push in the Region VI Tournament, knocking off Cowley in the quarterfinals on Kendale Hampton’s 3-point buzzer beater. Nee comes from a coaching family. His father, Danny, accumulated 461 career wins between stops at Ohio, Nebraska, Robert Morris, Duquense, and the United States Merchant Marines. With the Cornhuskers, the older Nee tallied a 254-190 mark, leading them to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
“We ddddare really excited about this year’s team. We learned a lot from last year, and we changed how we recruited for this year. I think we have a chance to be a really good shooting team. We’ve brought in a lot of capable shooters. We broke the record for 3’s in a season a couple of years ago. I think we have a chance to top that.”

Coach Nee on Terry “He was the first guy that I signed in this class, and that’s because he represents what I want in this program. He has high character, is extremely tough, and can shoot the 3. Those are the core values I was looking for in this class, and that’s what he represents.”

Tandy also has collegiate coaching experience. She spent a season as an assistant coach at the University of Evansville where she was the recruiting coordinator, defensive coordinator and responsible for point-guard development. There, Tandy coached the Missouri Valley defensive player of the year Camary Williams, who now plays professionally overseas, all-time leading scorer Sara Dickey, who also plays professionally overseas, and the program’s all-time leading rebounder, Sasha Robinson. Before landing at Evansville, Tandy was the head girls coach at Hamilton Heights High School in Arcadia, IN, where she helped turn around a struggling program in 2015. Prior to that, she coached AAU basketball in Indianapolis for nine years while also serving as
an assistant under Indiana Hall-of-Famer Stan Benge at Ben Davis High School in 2008, where the Giants finished 30-0 and won the state and national championship led by two future WNBA players: Alex Bentley and Bria Goss. Tandy grew up in Indianapolis and played her high school ball at North Central, winning a sectional championship her junior year in 2001. From there, she received a scholarship to play at Duquense University before transferring to Cleveland State in 2004. She led the Vikings in scoring and is one of the program’s alltime leaders in 3-point shooting and minutes played. She has a Bachelor’s degree in sociology with an emphasis in criminology, and is almost done with her Master’s at Duquense. Tandy moves to Garden City with her husband George Tandy IV, who played at Cleveland State and professionally in Germany. T
odd Perdas enters his first season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Garden City Community College.
Perdas comes to Garden City after spending the last two years as the head girls’ basketball coach and Director of Athletics at Saint Peter’s High School in Mansfield, OH. There, he coached three All-Conference selections and three all-district picks.

Perdas does indeed know the landscape of the Sunflower state. He spent one season as a women’s assistant at Kansas Wesleyan in 2015. That year, the Coyotes were ranked as high as No. 23 in the nation and knocked off three ranked teams during the regular season. But more impressively was the work Perdas put in with his players in the classroom as the team posted a 3.49 GPA and produced five NAIA scholar-athletes.
assistant at Fairland High School in Proctorville, OH. At the college level, Perdas had coaching stops at Alderson Broaddus University, an NCAA Division-II school where he served as Associate Head Coach and recruiting coordinator for the women’s program, Kentucky Christian, Shawnee State University and Ohio University Southern. During his time at Shawnee State, the Bears completed their first and only undefeated regular season in school history in 2009. Perdas began his coaching career as boys’ assistant coach at South Webster High School in South Webster, OH. After two seasons there, he was hired as the lead boys’ assistant at Notre Dame High School.
After Kansas Wesleyan, Perdas spent a few months as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Holy Cross College, which incidentally is right next door to the University of Notre Dame, originally Perdas’s dream job. After a short stint there, he signed on as an

ondaryl Perry enters his first season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Garden City Community College.
Perry comes to Garden City from Oklahoma City, where he coached the Millwood girls, one of the most powerful programs in the Sooner state. Under his watch, the Falcons were 132-50 in three seasons, including a pair of regional championships. In 2017, Perry guided Millwood to an 18-11 finish and a trip to the state tournament.

COACHING HISTORY 2019-Present: Garden City Assistant coach 2015-2018: Millwood High School Head Coach 2014-2015: Putnam City North Assistant Coach 2011-2014: Northeast Academy Head Coach
Before landing at Millwood, Perry coached one season at Putnam City North in 2015. The year prior to that, he was at Northeast High School, where in 2013, the Vikings finished 30-0 and won the 2A state championship. He was named Little All City Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons while guiding the program to their most successful stretch in school history.
school record-44-point performance his senior year earned him a spot in the Faith 7 All-Star Game. He was a two-time All-State selection and was named to the High School Hoops Magazine “Player to Watch” list as a senior. After high school, Perry spent two years at Seminole State before walking on at Central Oklahoma, leading the region in 3-point shooting in 1996. That same year, his team was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation, averaging a mind-boggling 107 points per contest. Perry’s impact reaches far beyond the basketball floor. He did one tour of duty in Iraq and was also sent back as a civilian contractor. As a teenager, he helped raise his younger brothers, overcoming plenty of obstacles along the way. In 2013, Perry was inducted into the Seminole State College Hall of Fame.
Long before Perry was drawing up x’s and o’s, he was a star player at Putnam City West, leading his team in scoring, shot blocking, steals and assists. In 1993, he led the state in steals (104) while averaging 21 points per game. His
