In 2015, we celebrated ten years in our current facility, and like the previous years, it was busier than ever. We provided access to 47.8 million meals to those in need in our community. That is 32 million more meals than we provided in 2005, our first year in our new community food distribution center on South Waterloo Road. Since our move to the new building, we’ve gained more than space—we’ve increased our capacity and have been able to think creatively about how to do more for those less fortunate. Through your support and generosity, we established our Children’s Nutrition Initiative, opened our Help Center to assist clients over the phone, and doubled our capacity to store perishable food with our new Cargill Cold Storage Center. The reality, however, is that we are serving more people now than we were before the recession. One in four children—and one in six people—in Greater Cleveland still lives in a food-insecure household. That means that they do not consistently know where their next meal is coming from. It is difficult to fathom that there are those among us who do not have reliable access to healthy food. Many of these households have at least one member who is working— sometimes more than one job. They are making incredibly difficult choices on a regular basis—whether to buy food or pay for the rent or keep their utilities on. They are the working poor who struggle each day to provide life’s necessities for their families. For the more than 330,000 Northeast Ohioans who struggle with hunger, the support of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and our partner agencies is an important lifeline. We provide meals for more than 247,000 people a year throughout our six-county service area, in partnership with more than 800 pantries, hot meal sites, and partners. As we enter a new year, your partnership has never been more important. This year, we will begin implementing our new strategic plan that will take us through 2018. Our goal is to connect even more of our struggling neighbors with access to nutritious meals, but we can’t do it without you! Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of those in need.

“Thank you for helping me with food. Keep up the good work!” Geraldine is diabetic and has been coming to the Madison Food Center for several years. She lives by herself. Her eyesight is failing, which makes it difficult for her to cook. She’s really excited to see bananas at the pantry today. "I try to eat as much fruit as I can – it’s the good sugar," she explains. Geraldine has had diabetes for more than 20 years. She’s been under a lot of stress lately, which makes the condition worse. Her mother passed away in December. "I’ve been skipping meals," she admits. Geraldine’s SNAP benefits were recently cut. She has

numerous health problems in addition to her diabetes. A year ago, Geraldine had a knee replacement that didn’t heal. She’s in a vocational program to help her get back to work parttime. Geraldine is one of many Northeast Ohioans struggling to afford food, medical care, and other necessary expenses. For our hungry neighbors, your generosity alleviates the need to make that difficult choice. To the donors of the Food Bank, Geraldine would like to say, "Thank you for helping me with food. Keep up the good work!"

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank moves into its current facility on 15500 South Waterloo Road.

The Food Bank is named "Food Bank of the Year" by Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network.

The Food Bank creates the 9 0 Mobile Food Pantries program to serve residents in underserved communities who are in need of food.

The Food Bank sponsors its first Summer Feeding sites. 128,843 meals were served at 32 locations to school-age children in lowincome areas.

of produce were distributed.

1,260 mobile pantries brought healthy, perishable food directly to people who need it most.

14,034 SNAP applications were submitted by our Benefits Outreach team this past fiscal year, providing clients access to 13 million meals.

15,297 children were served through our Children’s Nutrition Initiative.

We provided food and support to 840 local partner agencies and programs.

13,190 volunteers donated more than 63,000 hours of their time to the Food Bank.
