Located on the left bank of the of ghats, it houses the Kashi Vi ad-hoc, low-rise development, e provides a befitting setting to t its significance in the complex Mandir Chowk, a large open sp lined by important civic and cul

e River Ganga, Varanasi is one of India’s most sacred pilgrimage sites. Along its water frontage and miles ishwanath Mandir, built in 1780. Overtime, this part of the city has been continuously built over by dense, encroaching public spaces and severely constraining the access to the Mandir. The redeveloped precinct the Kashi Vishwanath Mandir, with a picturesque path connecting the Mandir with the Ghats. Retaining x, the temple is enclosed by an ornate colonnade, creating the spacious and sacred Mandir Parisar. The pace in front of the Mandir Parisar, will descend on to the main path leading to the Ghats. This path will be ltural institutions such as the City Museum, the Varanasi Gallery and the Multipurpose Hall.

TEMPLE OF DEMOCRACY Vidhan Sabha is also called “Temple of Democracy” in India, so the concept of design form is inspired from “Indian Temple Architecture”. Program is layed out on Indian temple architecture layout and various spaces of programs symbolize characters of Indian temple architecture. ● Shikhara or Vimana: Assembly house where all debates and law making process takes place, symbolises the Shikhara and its form is also derived from typical India Temple Vimana architecture. ● Prikrama Path : Cirulation corridores symbolize praikrama path. ● Manddappam : Places of gatherings symbolize Mandappam and Ardh Manddappam. ● Ashrama : Ashrana or Monestries are symolises by member’s chambers.
