Top 5: Valentine’s Day chocolates. We all love Valentine’s Day (unintentional pun), but what’s better to do than buy them chocolates? This list will help you choose the perfect chocolates for this special day. So without further ado, let’s get this show on the road. (By the way if you don’t think this list meets your standards I am totally fine with that) 5. Lilly O’Brien’s: We all know Lilly O’Brien’s, the iconic handmade Irish brand that just tastes good in general. Lily O’Brien’s is a good choice of chocolate for Valentine’s Day. They have personalised gifts for that special someone you have in your life. And if you haven’t found that person yet you can always choose your own face for the top of the chocolate box. 4. Butlers: Ahh...Butler’s chocolate. You simply have had to try it to be called a true chocolate lover. I have been to a factory tour of the place (it is located in Dublin by the way) and the chocolate was amazing, even the dark chocolate which I am not a big fan of. They have chocolates that come in all sizes; small, medium and large. They also have great hot chocolate that other competitors simply can’t beat the taste of. 3. Roses: We all have had roses haven’t we? If not then you are missing out! Roses have all sorts of little Cadbury chocolates under one roof made of tin. Roses are often bought on special occasions such as: Christmas, Easter, birthdays, and yes you guessed it valentine’s day. If you haven’t had roses go to your nearest shop and get a tin right now. If you happen to be allergic to nuts, there are still plenty of nut free chocolates in the tin.

2. Galaxy: Galaxy, the smooth silky chocolate bar that everyone can recognise. It tastes good and sounds good on the ads as well. Oh I’m getting tempted just thinking about it. There are different types such as caramel and cookie so you can be sure to find a bar that suits you. OK here it is number one. The one you have been waiting that or you either just skipped to number one, but anyway, here it is. 1. Celebrations. This box is basically filled with a great family of bars, from Mars to Snickers (not great for people with nut allergies) in a little box with a plastic window so you can see the ones you like and ones you don’t (e.g. bounty). So this is basically galaxy and its wrapper and contents, 10 times improved. So all in all I think this is, in my opinion the best box you can buy for that special someone one that special day of the year.
I hope I haven’t made you too hungry by writing this. And don’t forget to have a happy valentine’s day! By Fergus Whyte

Mocks survival guide Are you stressed? So am I, and I can tell you right now, it’s not healthy. So to help you keep your sanity I’m going to try and go through some things you can use to get through the mocks, (or any other exams that may be ahead of you). 1). If you’re studying, keep your locker in order. Your doing yourself no favors if you your locker is a tip, you wont be able to find books for study easily and you run the risk of most of your stuff falling out. 2). You all probably know this one, but just in case, it’s important to study in a quiet room. Noise is the killer in studying, going into the kitchen, or any kind of room with no electrical appliances does the world of good, or the study hall if you can. 3). Be rational with the amount of time you use to study. Three hours is plenty, put your heads down, work for three hours, stop, then go back if you feel you need to, no point wasting your whole day being miserable.
6
4). We need to be able to relax over the mid-term, after studying go and do something to clear your head. Play a game, go out, watch a bit of TV, personal choice being Breaking Bad, because nothing is more relaxing than watching drug dealers blowing each other up right? 5). Keep a level head. Don’t do what I do and become so paranoid over these things that you can’t sleep. They’re mocks, not the real thing, that’s not to say you shouldn’t try and do well in them. But there’s no point in stressing to much over them, save the stress till June. And above all else remember,
Sam Burke

First year Love First year love Is whispers winging through the halls, It’s rings of rumour catching on, It’s ears pressed against the wall, It’s prying eyes and stories and lies, It’s “she said what?” and “yes, he did” The couple become celebrities, Entangled in the gossip grid. Cause every girl wants a Prince Charming And those who deny it want him the most, They dream of kissing by candlelight, And maybe sharing, tea and toast. We all want Edward to sweep us away, We all want Peeta to hold our hand, We all want the son of a billionaire, And we all want a lead from a rocking band, For the next two weeks, we spread the scandal, But secretly it’s a silent plea: “OMG! He’s so hot!” “Why won’t anyone fancy me?” By Rachel Thornton

Grá – Cad a Chiallaíonn sé i nDáirire? Nuair a dhéanann daoine machnamh ar ghrá, thosaíonn siad ag smaoineamh ar ridire geal ar chapall bán, nó grá ag an gcéad adharc. Is fíor go bhfuil grá le feiceáil sna brionglóidí seo, ach i mo thuairim féin, níl aon ghá le comharthaí móra. Creidim go bhfuil an grá timpeall orainn gach lá, sna rudaí simplí. Is iomaí sort grá atá le feiceáil inniu, mar shampla, grá pósta. Is daoine gnóthacha iad mo thuismitheoirí féin, ach déanann siad iarracht rudaí deasa a dhéanamh dá chéile. Tar éis lá fhada san oifig, tagann mo Dhaid abhaile le bláthanna deasa, gan údar. An Nollaig seo caite, cheannaigh mo Mham dhá thicéad do cheolchoirm an bhanna is fearr le mo Dhaid. Chuaigh sí go dtí an cheolchoirm leis, cé gur fuath leí an banna. Tá grá platónach le feiceáil sa domhan freisin. Is iad ár gcairde an chlann a roghnaímid dúinn féin. Is feidir linn caint leo, nó suí ós comhair na teilifíse le cupán tae agus popábhar. Nuair a bheadh duine sásta an fón a phiocadh suas ag a trí a chlog ar maidin chun glao a chur ort, tá grá i gceist gan aon agó. Is rud tábhachtach é go bhfuil grá neamhchoinníollach ann. Sna laethanta seo, is feidir le beirt, beag beann a gcine nó a n-inscne, a saol a chaitheamh le chéile. Is é nadúr gach duine titim i ngrá. Níl teorainn nó claontacht leis. Beag beann cé atá i gceist, tá an grá chéanna le feiceál i ngach caidreamh, timpeall an domhain.
Eleanor Younge & Sadhbh Springate Grá – Cad a Chiallaíonn sé i nDáirire? Leis an ráta cholscartha ag méadú, cad a chiallaíonn an grá i ndáiríre? Cloisimid scéalta uafásacha faoi fhoréigean baile in Éirinn agus an gcúlú eacnamaíochta ag cur leis. Ach má fheicimid ar an bpósadh idir Williaim agus Kate, is léir go bfhuil éileamh fós 10
ag an bpobail ar an ngrá sa saol atá inniu ann. Tá éileamh mhór freisin ar bhláthanna, agus ar chártaí Lá Fhéile Vailintín. Agus freisin, i gcodarsnacht leis an méadú sa ráta cholscartha, tá an ráta phósadh ag méadú freisin. Is féidir a rá go bhfuil daoine ag dul sa seans nuair a phósann siad nuair atá siad óg. Ach tá an grá ró -chumhachtach chun stop a chur leis. An mbeidh an colscaradh níos coitianta sa todhchaí? Deirtear go bhfuil an colscaradh ró-dhian ar pháistí. Ach, dá mbeadh an colscaradh mídhleathach, bheadh ar leannúin fanacht le chéile, ag troid is ag maslú a chéile os comhair na bpáistí bochta. Sílim go mbeadh sé níos fearr sna cásanna seo comhaontú colscaradh a fháil, ar mhaithe leis na páistí.
Rory Flynn Grá – Cad a Chiallaíonn sé i nDáirire? Caithfidh mé a rá gur chuir teideal na haiste seo ag smaoineamh mé agus ní minic a tharlaíonn sé sin. Ba mhaith liom chuid mo smaointe a roinnt libh más fiú tada iad. Is é nádur an duine titim i ngrá, fad is atá an scéal amhlaidh, bí cinnte de go mbeidh rómánsaíocht sa saol. Deirtear go bhfuil an grá rómánsúil imithe as saol an lae inniu ach ní réitím leis an bpointe sin. Ach caithfimid an cheist a chur, cad a chiallaíonn an grá in ndáirire? Tá béim mhór ar Lá Fhéile Vailintín gach bhliain agus níl teorainn leis na bláthanna, cartaí agus seacláid a cheannaíonn daoine. Ní féidir linn súil a dhúnadh ar chéadshearc dhaoine óga, an goile maolaithe, an croí ag preabarnach nuair a fheictear an leannán. Is léir go bhfuil béim ar thábhacht na scéimhe sa lá atá inniu ann agus bíonn daoine den tuairim más duine gránna tú, nach féidir leat titim i ngrá. Ach, i mo thuairim, níl cuma an duine tábhachtach ina gcaidreamh, agus is geal leis an bhfiach dubh a ghearrcach féin, mar a déarfá. Tá a fhios againn go bhfuil ráta an cholscartha ag méadú lá ina ndiadh lae ach ní hé sin ach gné amháin den scéal. Feicimid grá i ngach àit, rugadh muid as an ngrá agus beidh sé i gcónaí ina ábhar cainte agus ina ábhar amhráin. Sa lá atá inniu ann, bíonn aithne mhaith ag an leannúin ar a chéile sula gcinneann siad ar phósadh. Caitheann siad am i gcomhluadar a chéile agus de ghnáth cónaíonn siad le chéile freisin. Is léir go bhfuil an ráta pósa ag laghdú i gcásanna éigin, ach tá taithí againn go léir air. Gan aon agó, bímid cinnte go mbeidh rómánsaíocht againn sa saol go deo.

The Alternative Guide to Dating This is for all the singles out there with nothing better to do on Valentine’s Day then cry into a ready meal for one and read the College Press. We all know and understand how you have no “time” to find that special other to put up with your weird/gross habits forever and ever so I have decided to give you the scoop on how to bag the perfect VL date via the lazy guys/girls dating app Tinder. True love is just one click away....
The Selfie Sell: For the profile pic, girls can always go with the tried and tested duck face or possibly a sultry pout á la Posh Spice. Remember, this image is what represents you so maybe save any experimental poses for Instagram where the delete button is just one tap away. I`m not too sure about boys, maybe just make gun fingers in the corner and hope for the best. Warning: this could result in looking like a Mr Bean impersonator. This is not a good thing.
Upfront: Be pretty straight up in your caption even if that means you are the ultimate undateable right from the word go. The thing about you unfortunate individuals is there are more than one of you out there so one day you will hopefully find each other and continue on to live a very happy life (this is unlikely).
The Shock Factor: People who take compliments well are psychopaths. If you do receive a compliment say “yeah” or “I know” just to see how the other person responds. This could be very amusing.

Dress to (Un)impress: When it finally gets to the stage where you meet your potential partner, dress as disappointing as possible, without being completely rough. This means you can only ever exceed the first impression you make which is never a bad thing. Basically be the medium version of yourself.
Forever Lover?: Seal that second date by handcuffing them to you. Failing that, you`ve got that exhausting game where you wonder how long you should leave a gap before texting. If you`re twitching for each other, it`s fine to text straight away. If you got that probable murderer vibe or things just went plain badly, cut the cord off and never speak to tham again. Problem solved. That concludes my alternative guide to dating.

Miscellany Abraham Lincoln’s letter to his son’s Head Master Respected Teacher, My son will have to learn I know that all men are not just, all men are not true. But teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero; that for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader. Teach him that for every enemy there is a friend. It will take time, I know; but teach him, if you can, that a dollar earned is far more valuable than five found. Teach him to learn to lose and also to enjoy winning. Steer him away from envy, if you can. Teach him the secret of quiet laughter. Let him learn early that the bullies are the easiest to tick. Teach him, if you can the wonder of books…but also give him quiet time to ponder over the eternal mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun, and flowers on a green hillside. In school teach him it is far more honourable to fail than to cheat. Teach him to have faith in his own ideas, even if everyone tells him they are wrong. Teach him to be gentle with gentle people and tough with the tough. Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone is getting on the bandwagon. Teach him to listen to all men but teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes through. Teach him, if you can how to laugh when he is sad. Teach him there is no shame in tears. Teach him to scoff at cynics and to beware of too much sweetness. Teach him to sell his brawn and brain to the highest bidders; but never to put a price tag on his heart and soul. Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob… and to stand and fight if he thinks he’s right. Treat him gently; but do not cuddle him because only the test of fire makes fine steel. Let him have the courage to be impatient, let him have the patience to be brave. Teach him always to have sublime faith in himself because then he will always have sublime faith in mankind. This is a big order; but see what you can do. He is such a fine little fellow, my son. Abraham Lincoln

Things we learn in school -- Kenn Nesbitt How to juggle. How to hop. How to make my knuckles pop. How to whinny. How to cluck. How to talk like Donald Duck. How to wiggle both my ears. How to fake convincing tears. How to yo-yo. Capture flies. Roll my tongue and cross my eyes. How to make a piggy snout. How to make my eyes bug out. These are things I learned in school. Education-Ain't it cool?
