“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
“Y’all have been with us for a long time ..” list on our website. Same goes for the cruise-in flyers and info. If you haven't checked out the CAR SHOW and CRUISE-IN pages on our website (www.gearheadgazzette.com) head over after you read this issue. All that gearhead fun will help you plan your car show summer fun.
Some random rumblings this week... I want to start out by wishing all of you gearheads a very Happy Easter or Passover holiday. This is a very special time of year, a time of renewal if you will and a time for family. Get your finest Easter dud’s on and go have some fun!
Talking about show and cruise info and flyer, some advice from us. We use the flyers you send in and the event info also. A lot of times, more than you would think, we get event info with no town or state on it. Sometimes no contact info either. We cant tell you how many times we get connected by folks wanting to go to an event and not knowing where its at. Make your event a bigger success by having the WHO/WHAT/WHY/ WHERE/WHEN and CONTACT INFO on the flyer and sent to us.
It has been a little while and it never gets old, THANK YOU to all of you who have signed up for delivery of the Gearhead Gazzette direct to your email box. We appreciate you jumping in and having fun with us around here. Tell us what you like and don’t like so we can do more of what you like and try to fix what you don’t like. We also want to thank all our long time readers and subscribers too! Y’all have been with us for a long time and we appreciate you so very much. Keep the flyers for al those cool gearhead events coming. We keep adding them to our master
So much for this week/issue..time to go burn some dead dinosaur’s In the ‘32 Coupe.

Road Rumblings…. Mulholland Speedster Captures Del Mar Street Rod d’Elegance Written by John Drummond
Ladd and Black have teamed on a number of successful builds together but this is their crowning achievement.
Six years in the making, the Mulholland Speedster came to the 17th Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals fresh off winning America’s Most Beautiful Roadster as well taking the Legends Cup at the Chicago World of Wheels earlier this spring. No matter where it shows up, it captivates audiences. Owner Bruce Wanta is just as nice as the car, standing
During his life as a car aficionado, Wanta had always been infatuated with the regal nature of a ’36 Packard, especially the front end. So when it came time to build his dream ride, he knew he wanted it to have that famous, ornate grille.
guard to discuss his custom creation with fans. Wanta’s Speedster was a team effort between himself, designer E. Black, and renowned coach builder, Troy Ladd of Hollywood Hot Rods, where the car was meticulously constructed.
After brainstorming with Black and Ladd, they basically designed the entire car around the grille shell. As you can see, they clearly hit the mark!

Ladd estimates roughly eighty percent of the car’s exterior panels were hand-

The flathead Lincoln Zephyr V12 engine sports a set of Winfield Double D carburetors (the lost ark of hot rod carbs) as well as a vintage Latham supercharger.
The Mulholland Speedster is a once in a lifetime car. It successfully recaptures the bygone era of European-style coach building while simultaneously paying homage to American hot rodding. What a ride! With its Del Mar Street Rod d’Elegance win, the Mulholland Speedster joins the Goodguys Top 12 Cars of the Year lineup. It will be displayed at the seasonending Goodguys Southwest Nationals, November 17-19 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Underneath all of those hand formed contours, the chassis was designed as a figure 8 structure then welded up from raw materials at Hollywood Hot Rods.

The rear suspension is set up with a Winter’s quickchange on custom I-beam arms with quarter elliptical springs. The spun aluminum gold-coated wheel covers are anchored with Packard centers. Story/Photos by Jimmy B
When you have invited 2000 of your closest hot rod friends to town, as a good host you want to have some meet and greet time for those early arrivals. When the invite is from GOODGUY and the location is Nashville Tennessee, you know you’re going to have a fun weekend.
Starting on Wednesday afternoon and evening, Jess & Jeff Greening opened the doors of their awesome shop so gearheads in town could stop by, check out the latest projects being built, and enjoy some refreshments on a warm spring evening in Music City.
To set the mood for the weekend, you enlist two different hot rod shops to throw their doors open and invite all the gearheads to come visit and get the long weekend started right. This is exactly what took place at the GOODGUYS 11th Nashville Nationals.
Some very cool project vehicles greeted visitors. Jess and Jeff and their crew were on hand to answer questions and just welcome everyone.
16
Thursday saw event registration taking place at LP field for the weekend’s hot rod fun. After hot rodders registered, they were invited to head over to ADVANCED PLATING which is a stones throw from the event site. Steve Tracy and his team at ADAVNCED PLATING helped get the Nashville Nations kicked off in style at the Thursday Kick Off Party.
Plenty of great Tennessee BBQ and all the fixin’s were being served to hungry hot rodders. Sitting down to enjoy the delicious meal led to some great bench racing and making new friends for all who came out for the party.
Food was not the only deal for this party. The whole plating shop was open for gearheads to check out and learn what it takes to make all those parts shiny with that killer chrome finish. After touring the facility, it is easy to see why ADVANCED PLATING is a leader in the world of chrome service to gearhead around the world. How they keep all those pieces together is mind boggling.
Plenty of parking was filled up with all kinds of cool cars, hot rods, trucks, customs and more.
17
There were some of the Detroit Autorama Great 8 cars on display inside the shop for everyone to check out. Later in the evening the Big Oak Garage debuted a brand new 1932 Ford Sedan that had everyone oohing and ahhing when the cover came off and even more so when everyone got to check it out up close.
18
Add in LIVE music , a hot rod Ice Cream truck serving cold treats and all those great looking cars outside and we call this party a huge success. Make your plans now to attend the Thursday night Kick Off Party at the 12th Nashville Nationals in May 2017. You’ll be glad you did!
