“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “ The problem is real but can be fixed.” Fast Forward to 2017 and the cruise-in is in full swing. Problem is getting worse. The Cruise asks everyone to please help and throttle back and use alternative exits when leaving to end the problem. Problem still exists.

I touched on this subject a few issues back, and I feel the need to do it again. Please don’t think of it as preaching or crying wolf...this is really happening! After you read this, (I hope you do!), turn the page and read this weeks ROAD RUMBLINGS section...COMPLETELY.

The Franklin Police are giving SERIOUS consideration to shutting the whole thing down. Why? Because leaving the cruise under full acceleration is creating near misses and some cars have hit the curbs and medians due to drivers losing control. Thankfully no one has been injured or worse.

In my area of the USA, in Middle TN we have a great cruise-in on Saturday Mornings. It’s held in Franklin TN, located just south of Nashville TN. This cruise, as many do, started out small and over the past couple of years has grown more and more popular. On the 1st Saturday of the month, also known as EXOTIC SATURDAY, during nice weather periods 900-1200 plus cars come out from 8am-10:30am.

Don’t get me wrong. I am no prude on horsepower or seeing it used or squeezing the go pedal myself. There is a time and place for it and leaving a cruise in on a busy road IS NOT THE PLACE!!

No its not unique, as other areas of the USA experience this also. With growth such as this, comes some pains.

This problem is not unique to Middle TN. Over in Knoxville TN, a knucklehead in a VIPER beat up his car and almost injured people bouncing off both sides of the road. Oh yea...it was shared on FACEBOOK so all could see.

This cruise was an official unofficial cruise. No one person or group ran it or “owned” it. It just happened. Yes behind the scenes there were-are some individuals who quietly guided it thru social media info.

This does not help our hobby or the fun the majority of us like to have. 98% of you are not the problem. The 2% are going to cost us our fun.

Last year towards the end of the year, some issues with “RECKLESS DRIVING” started to happen when cruisers left the cruise and turned out on the main road. Stupidity in some cases prevailed.

If you see it happening...SAY SOMETHING to the KNUCKLEHEADS. If you’re doing it...STOP. Go the racetrack and let it all hang out in a safe manner.

KUDOS to the Franklin Police Dept. for keeping their cool and dealing with said knuckleheads.

The problem is real but can be fixed. Help out if you can or on saving this cruise-in. Yours may need it one day too.

Part of the problem grew out of the crowd who lined the street, way to close and in the median too!

Road Rumblings‌. Nashville Cars and Coffee starts a GoFundMe page to keep the event going... https://www.gofundme.com/nashvillecarsandcoffee Due to the growth of Nashville Cars and Coffee, we are having to take steps so that we may continue to offer the event and preserve public safety and goodwill within our community. In order to achieve these goals, it is necessary to incur some costs. The primary cost of which is providing additional Police resources to the event to maintain the safety of the citizens. There are also various admin, legal, insurance, costs, etc. that are involved in the organization but they only represent a small fraction of overall cost. The purpose of this GoFundMe page is to provide some immediate financial support to provide additional Police resources at the event. It is my desire for this to be a temporary solution until a more long term plan can be implemented. All funds generated via this page will go towards the Capital/Operating Costs of Nashville Cars and Coffee. Thank you so much for the support of this event!

Ladies n' Gents. I wanted to take a minute to pass along some information about the current state of Nashville Cars and Coffee. There has been quite a bit of discussion behind the scenes about whether or not this event has a future. The city of Franklin is looking to shut down Cars and Coffee as a public nuisance. If no action is taken, that is exactly what is going to happen. In order to preserve the event, there are certain steps that must be taken (permits, insurance, security, etc.) and as with any endeavor, challenges to face. Deciding who, if any, is going to lead that offensive has been a big part of the discussion. I literally lost sleep this past weekend due to the anxiety of wondering what to do. Do we just kill the page and be done with it? I honestly almost deleted this page about 2am on Saturday. Do I take this on myself? Can I afford to? When this page was started, we could not have imagined the event would become what it is today. There wasn't any formal organization or hierarchy. It was just a photographer and an enthusiast who wanted to have a Facebook page so we can connect other automotive enthusiasts and post pictures of cool cars. At this point, we have had to evaluate our roles in this thing and make decisions about our roles in the future. As of today, I am the only remaining Admin of this page. TMashPhotos has stepped down as an Administrator however, he will continue to post pictures of the events from the page when he attends. TMashPhotos has been a major reason this event is what it is today so I want to express my gratitude for all his contributions over the last few years. I have decided to do my best to work through the process to keep Nashville Cars and Coffee going. This is a process that is going to take some time. I have already began taking the necessary steps to get that ball rolling and I will post updates as they come. I would appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as I work through it. There will be some changes coming so please stay tuned. Now....with all that said...in order to accomplish all of this, I am excited to announce that we are open to partnering with the community regarding sponsorships, volunteers, etc. Please send us a message if this is something that is of interest to you or your business and we will get the conversation going. In closing, I want to thank the City of Franklin, Franklin Police Department, Carmike Cinemas, and all of you for your support of this page and the event. If all goes well, we can keep this thing going! Thank you all so much for your time! -Boddington Biddlesworth7
