“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
FEEDBACK... FEEDBACK….Giving it and getting it.
our readers. The end result should be a better publication, that gives you what you want to read each week, and keeps you coming back each week for the next issue.
Whether we all like it or not, getting feedback is important. Giving it is equally important too.
We need your feedback. We do not get mad with any of it, and we welcome it.
For us here at the Gearhead Gazzette Magazine, knowing where we need to be headed is important. Part of heading in a particular direction is based on what our readers think about what we do. Our course is also determined by what you our readers want to see in our publication. You have wants and wishes, and those are important to you.
Reality is the majority of you enjoy the magazine and the other things we do, and say nothing. Some of you do send us an email, hit us up on FACEBOOK book or grab us at car show and events and talk to us. We are thankful for that.
Now reality says giving each individual reader, every thing they want, is pretty close to impossible. But by listening to all the feedback, and seeing where the commonality is at with most our readers, well that becomes more doable.
This is how we get better at this publication. WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK. We are asking you to give us feedback so we get better and better with each issue.
We have a course that we set, to be able to provide you the readers with the best product we can produce, within our resources and means. We take that course and adjust it with feedback we get from you
Guess what, we just gave you some feedback and it didn’t hurt a bit...did it? We look forward to hearing from you soon...

SEMA is now accepting applications for the 2018 SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund for students preparing for careers in the auto or auto parts industries at sema.org/ scholarships. New this year, high school and part-time students can apply for a scholarship. The change is part of an effort by SEMA’s Scholarship committee to start students down the automotive path and support their efforts at an earlier stage.
"SEMA is dedicated to activating the next-generation automotive workforce by providing financial support and career resources to students enrolled in various high schools, universities, colleges, and/or vocational schools in the United States," said SEMA Chairman-Elect Tim Martin. The SEMA Memorial Scholarship program offers financial assistance of up to $5,000 to help foster the next generation of automotive aftermarket industry leaders and innovators. Students can apply for the scholarship at sema.org/scholarships . Deadline for the program is March 1. Scholarships are available in a variety of categories, such as accounting, sales and marketing, and engineering. Dozens of awards ranging from $2,000 to $3,000 will be given out, with a $5,000 award going to the top student. The program also includes a loan forgiveness aspect that offers financial awards to employees of SEMA member-companies who have completed and are paying off a loan for a program of study at an accredited university, college, or vocational/ technical program within the U.S. For more information, contact SEMA Manager of Student Programs Juliet Marshall at 909-978-6655 or julietm@sema.org.

A new TV episode SEMA: Battle of the Builders will premiere on the Velocity Channel on Jan. 2. Since 2015, the one-hour program has aired on the network to give viewers a behindthe-scenes look at the SEMA Show, up-close footage of the vehicles and exclusive interviews with builders as they share their personal stories. In addition to all the customized cars and trucks entered into SEMA Battle of the Builders, the program features an array of vehicle customizers as they reveal the excitement, struggles and journey leading up to the competition. New this year is the expansion of the Young Guns recognition, which shines the light on young, up-and-coming builders in the automotive industry. Automotive YouTubers Michael Nguyen (Smurfinwrx) and David Patterson (Thatdudeinblue) serve as Young Guns judges, joining returning judges RJ DeVera of Meguiar’s, David Freiburger from The Enthusiast Network and Fred Williams from Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off Road. Together, they narrow the nearly 300 applications down until the final winner is announced. Check your local Cable or Satellite provider for the exact time and date

Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Cool Trucks, Drag racing and more were just some of the highlights of the 2017 GOODGUYS NOSTALGIA NATIONALS. Held at the historic Beech Bend Raceway Park, one of the coolest places in the USA to hold an event like this , participants and spectators enjoyed nothing but big time gearhead fun.
The GOODGUYS formula of mixing cool cars and trucks, with nostalgia drag racing, add in a swap meet, specialty parking/participant area’s, and some autocross fun, and you have a recipe for success! While all the cool cars at the event are great, this event really tends to center around the drag racing taking place. When the call goes out for “TOP FUEL and FUNNY CARS to the Staging Lanes”, the whole Beech Bend site really 18
comes alive! The stands fill up. There is heavy doses of Nitromethane in the air and you can never mistake that sound that reverberates off the valley the track is in. Old school front engine dragsters and Fantastic Plastic Funny cars, that LOOK LIKE a car make the fans fill the stands and brings the excitement to a fever pitch.
Got too much “STUFF laying around? List it in our FOR SALE OR SWAP section. No cost for private individuals and the ad runs for 2 months—FOR FREE! It will be seen weekly in the magazine and also on our FOR SALE OR SWAP page on our website. Send info and pics to gearheadgazzette@gmail.com
Send it to us today!
Now let’s not forget about all the other drag racers there too. Fuel altered racing, Alcohol fueled cars, the Gassers with wheels up leaving the line and more. This is why the stands filled up and stayed filled up for the majority of the day. Little did anyone attending the GOODGUYS Nostalgia Nationals at 19
Beech Bend Raceway Park, in October of this year, realize that they were attending the last one. Also those gearheads that couldn’t make it this year, but were looking forward to the 2018 event, they won’t get to. Goodguys is moving this event to the Lexington KY area in 2018. They will be following their regular event format at the 1st Annual Kentucky Nationals. Personally we are sad to see the NOSTALGIA NATIONALS end, but as happened in the past with other events, things change and this is one of them. It was fun while it lasted!
