“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “a disease for which there is no cure” We as “car people” take a different look at how and what we do with our favorite vehicles.

Since we all love this thing called cars, we need to protect what we do.

We encompass a very broad makeup, of different styles of cars and trucks.

When I say protect, I mean protect us and our vehicles, from people who have no understanding about what we do, or our passion for what we do.

We have hot rodders, street rodders, muscle car lovers, original/ restored lovers, racing (pick it..drag, oval, dirt, land speed or you name it) lovers and more. Even if you do not have a “specialty” car of some kind, as a person who enjoys them and participates in events, makes you one of these types of automotive enthusiast.

On page 7 of this issue, is information from SEMA on the latest on the RPM Act of 2017. This act was put together by elected officials in conjunction with SEMA to help support us. It’s in play and now it’s our turn to act. Call it the Gearhead Act. The Gearhead Act is when we all as lovers of cool cars and trucks, all of them in each form, pick up the phone and call our elected rep’s in Washington or send them an email telling them to SUPPORT THE RPM ACT of 2017!

While some would call what we do with our vehicles a hobby, for what I believe is most of us, this is far more than a hobby. Hobby would be the basic form of participation.

Not hard to do. The folks on the other end of the phone are polite and friendly. They want to hear what you have to say and what concerns you.

I believe that for 98% of us, this is a passion, love, some would say sickness and I call it a “disease for which there is no cure”! You can call it whatever you want for you, but my bet is it fits into one of the above quite nicely.

We all need to do this...TODAY!

Jimmy B.

Road Rumblings‌.

The company behind the Yenko 2017 Corvette Grand Sport has once again worked with Chevrolet on a new car. Specialty Vehicle Engineering or SVE has put its engine under the hood of the 2017 Camaro. The Yenko 2017 Camaro. Another collaboration between SVE of Toms River, New Jersey, and Chevrolet has resulted in the Yenko 2017 Camaro. The vehicle sports SVE's supercharged V8 engine matching the 800 horsepower and 750 pound-foot of torque of its Yenko cousin. The custom-built engine from SVE sports a forged steel crankshaft and H-beam rods, CNC ported and polished LT-1 cylinder heads, and LT-4 fuel system and injectors. The engine also gets aluminum pistons.

The Yenko 2017 Camaro is based on the Camaro SS and buyers of the vehicle can choose between the coupe and the convertible models. Buyers can also choose between a six-speed manual transmission and a speed automatic transmission. Apart from the supercharged V8 engine under the 2017 Camaro's hood, SVE also endows the vehicle with differential cooling systems, Brembo brakes, and a Magnetic Ride Control suspension system. Visually, buyers will notice a custom badge and decals along with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires wrapped around the 2017 Camaro's 20-by-10-inch heritage-style wheels.

Hood stripe colors come in Fiat Black, White, Silver, Red, Yellow, and Hugger Orange. They also come in Gloss Black. However, there are more colors one can choose from actually. It is worthy to note that the Yenko 2017 Camaro and Corvette are in no way related to the vehicles of Yenko Chevrolet of Pennsylvania. SVE just has the license to use the name from General Marketing Capital Incorporated.

Interested buyers should be quick to decide in purchasing the Yenko 2017 Camaro. It has been reported that SVE will only be building 50 vehicles of the 2017 model year. The whole vehicle package starts at a price of US$40,000. 6

Gearheads WE ALL need to contact our elected Senators & Congressional Rep’s on this to save our hobby!

Senate Joins House in Support of RPM Act of

2017 The U.S. Senate has joined the House of Representatives in reintroducing the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2017 (RPM Act). The bipartisan bill (S.203), introduced by Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), protects Americans’ right to modify street cars and motorcycles into dedicated race vehicles and industry’s right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete, according to a press release from the Specialty Equipment Market Association, which is supporting the bill.

The RPM Act is cosponsored by 14 members of the U.S. Senate. The bill ensures that transforming motor vehicles into racecars used exclusively in competition does not violate the Clean Air Act. “SEMA extends its thanks to Sen. Burr and the other cosponsors, and looks forward to working with Congress and the Trump administration to enact the RPM Act into law this year,” said SEMA President & CEO Chris Kersting. “We call on the entire enthusiast community to again reach out to their federal lawmakers to request support for the bill. The RPM Act is the only solution that will ensure that this time-honored tradition and livelihood for millions of Americans will be preserved for generations to come.” To write a letter to members of Congress, visit www.sema.org/rpm. 7

Wor

Story & Photo’s by Jimmy B

Every year for the past 53 years, custom car lovers have enjoyed the Chicago World of Wheels show. The 54th edition was another great show by all measures!

For the 54th edition in 2016, the ISCA Championship Finals were moved to The Chicago show date. This “show within a show” added even more fun into an already great show. (See our coverage in last weeks issue)

Over the years this show has been held in different locations/venues like McCormick Place along Chicago’s lakefront. For many many years it was held in January and we all know what Chicago is like weather-wise in January. You were a diehard to show your car and to just attend the show some years. A few years ago, show promoters Harry & Cheryl Willet made a decision to move the show to a new venue located just north of the Chicago City limits in Rosemont IL, at the Donald P Stephens Convention Center. Along with a location change (GREAT CHOICE in our opinion!) the date of the show was changed to the beginning of March. Both of these changes have made this show one of the MUST DO’s for both contestants and spectators too.

14

rld of Wheels Along with the hundreds of cool cars, trucks and motorcycles on display all weekend long, the Motorama was held in it’s own part of the building too. Vintage hot rods, cool customs, rat rods, bobbers and live rock-a–billy bands just add to all the fun.

While the ISCA hands out all the class awards and specialty awards at trophy time, the Legend Cup award is highly anticipated by contestants showing in Chicago for the first time. Friday Night sees the Chicago World Of Wheels team selecting and awarding the TOP 20 in the show.

15

On Saturday the team awards the SELECT 6 Awards for those entries in contention for the LEGEND Cup. Finally at the awards ceremony on Sunday, the team awards the LEGEND CUP to the best vehicle showing in Chicago for the very first time. The 2016 LEGEND CUP WINNER is Billy and Debbie Thomas' 1939 Oldsmobile Model 60 convertible, "Olds Cool." Though it still packs Olds power, a 455 V8 has displaced the stock inline-six -- and absolutely nothing else on this drop-top is stock, either. Built by Customs and Hot Rods of Andice Texas, everything from the wheels to the sheet metal is one-of-a-kind. Make your plans now to attend the 55th edition of the Chicago World of Wheels Show March 3-5, 2017. We will be there and you should be too! 16
